Project Limelight is a performing arts program offered at no cost to young people living in and
around Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
Project Limelight encourages children to look inside themselves, discover their inner strengths,
explore their hidden talents, and form lasting friendships. Above all, Project Limelight is about providing
opportunities to young people, who are inspired to perform!
A Message from Donalda & Maureen
Welcome! We’re so excited to share with you this very special performance of Mirror, Mirror,
performed by 18 young Project Limelight participants, ages 8 to 13 years old.
This production represents the final leg of a four month journey that began with a short performance
at The Heart of The City Festival and ends here, in front of hundreds of friends, family, and supporters.
On behalf of our Board Members and everyone at Project Limelight Society we would like to
extend our sincere appreciation to the following individuals, organizations and their representatives for
their strong belief in community and for their generous support and enthusiasm for Project Limelight –
Am Johal and Vancity’s Office of Community Engagement, SFU Woodward’s, Central City Foundation,
Vancouver Foundation, Telus Vancouver Community Board, Ron Suzuki and the staff at Strathcona
Community Centre, Vancity, Elena Kirschner, and everyone at East of Main Cafe.
Special thanks to Jodi Jacyk and her team who once again designed and created our beautiful
costumes and Mark Pilon for providing his beautiful artwork for our gorgeous poster and design
for the production. Thanks to all of our volunteers who gave their time and shared their expertise to
help make Mirror, Mirror a huge success! Katie, Blossom, Caitlin and Jessica, all SFU students, were
amazing and dedicated young mentors to our participants. As always, thanks to Tami Nasu for her
ongoing dedication to Project Limelight and her hard work coordinating our program sponsorship and
volunteers for the production. Thanks to Karelyn for designing our beautiful program and to Staples
for donating the printing costs. Special thanks to our wonderful director, Paul Belanger, who returned
to guide our young cast and brought along his enthusiasm and energy, inspiring them to believe that
they were capable of doing anything they set their mind to. From painting sets to performing with the
kids, Paul worked overtime to ensure the show was a success. Joining Paul was an amazing group of
individuals who gave their time, energy and boundless talent to make this show possible. Thank-you
Christache, Barb, Jillian, Chersea, Anna, Sarah and Kirsten. We couldn’t have done this without you,
and we are so very grateful for everything you’ve contributed.
We are so incredibly proud of each of our young Limelight participants, and thrilled you have
gathered with us to celebrate their success. Their journey has been incredibly rewarding, and we
congratulate each and every one of them for working hard and never giving up on their dreams. Join us
in cheering them on, as they enjoy their moment in the limelight!
