TIMELINE
ROMRADIATOARE traces its roots back to 1926, when a factory producing steel traction cables (and later also
aluminum electric cables) was set up in Brasov by a large industrial group of those times - "Industria Sirmei S.A”.
Production of radiators begins in 1961, when the company takes over the radiator production unit from a local tractor
factory (the first Romanian company to produce radiators, since 1948). After the merger, the factory develops and
supplies radiators for the entire Romanian machine building industry (national producers of cars, trucks, buses,
tractors, Diesel locomotives, drilling machinery, stationary engines). By 1989, the factory had a production capacity
of over 7000 tones of radiators per year.
In 1991, after the fall of the communist regime, the factory changes its name to “ROMRADIATOARE” and starts
assimilating radiators as spare parts for international car brands such as SUBARU, AUDI, SKODA, FORD, VOLVO,
VOLKSWAGEN, IKARUS, LADA and FIAT, among others. Starting with 1994, ROMRADIATOARE diversifies its
product range to incorporate HVAC units and residential heat exchangers. In 1995 ROMRADIATOARE becomes
privately held, all the shares being acquired by its employees.
In 1997, ROMRADIATOARE initiates a partnership with Renault Trucks, producing sheet metal parts for first
endowment.
Faced with the decline of the local machine building industry which occurred in the following years, and having to
compete on a global market, the company adapted its business model to the new realities. Thus, leveraging on its
extensive radiator design and production experience, and highly skilled technical staff, ROMRADIATOARE switched
its focus from mass-production of automotive radiators to designing and manufacturing specialized heat exchangers,
cooling systems and metal components for a broad range of applications.
In 2004 the company sets up a “Metal parts & Welded structures” separate production workshop, producing subassemblies and final products for Pinguelly Haulotte and continuing the Renault Trucks production partnership of
sheet metal parts.
In 2008, SIF Transilvania SA, a local private equity fund, becomes the main shareholder of ROMRADIATOARE,
supporting the development of the company’s capabilities through technology investments.

Brazed aluminum heat exchangers
ROMRADIATOARE produces brazed aluminum heat
exchangers using the NOCOLOK CAB (controlled
atmosphere brazing) technology, which is the preferred
process for manufacturing aluminum heat exchangers in
the industry.
Advantages:
• Accepts a less demanding dimensional fit-up
• Flux is noncorrosive requiring no post brazed cleaning
• Less capital intensive compared with vacuum brazing
• Easier recycling because of 100% Aluminum
construction
• 30%-40% less weight.
