My Mission: As an adviser
to 401(k) plans, my mission is helping people
achieve financial success
in retirement by saving
enough and investing wisely during their
working years, so that by
the time they reach retirement, their investment
accounts will be sufficient
to support their lifestyle
and last their lifetime.
My Business: We manage
investment assets for
individuals, families,
retirement plans, trusts
and endowments. We
are fiduciary advisers, meaning we act
solely in our clients’ best
interests, are conflict-free
and transparent. The
members of our team are
client-focused, highly
educated and have a

expertise in business,
finance and law.
Tools of the Trade: A sharp
mind that is capable
of both analytical and
creative thinking, effective communication and
counseling skills and
teammates who are extremely competent, of the

a good sense of humor.
Best Business Advice I Ever
Received: “Spend your

you up.” – My dad
and a blueprint to get
there, matching talent
and skills with needs
and opportunity, setting
realistic goals, monitoring
progress and rewarding
results, maintaining
respectful communication
and negotiation and having plenty of laughs and
good times along the way.

they truly are the

ever have and my

I Lead By: I value and
appreciate my career,
and I truly love what I do.
I want those around me
to feel the same way. We
all work hard, but we all
remember to also have
fun and smile.
Words of Wisdom to Other
Women in Business: If
you believe in yourself,
get an education, work
hard, and have respect
for one another, you
will succeed in whatever
you do. Also, “Nothing in
life is so difficult that you
can’t make it easier by
the way you deal with it.”
– Ellen Glasgow
My Strengths: I have
a strong work ethic,
integrity, and
I’m upfront with
no surprises.
My Mission: To treat each
of our patients with
personalized care. As a
cosmetic and restorative
dental practice, we
change smiles and
lives. We combine our
aesthetic and technical
skills to create a smile
that expresses the best
our patients can be while
promoting healthy, greatlooking teeth and gums.
My Business: The spa-like
environment of our officestudio – in Brunswick
off I-95 at the Golden
Isles Parkway – was
designed to promote
the ultimate in health,
relaxation, comfort
and confidence. Our
dental services include
non-surgical facelifts,
smile makeovers, facelift
dentures, TMJ therapy
and sedation dentistry.
Tools of the Trade: Our
awesome team,
which is committed to
educating patients on
the relationship between
maintaining exceptional
oral hygiene and overall
physical health; artistic
skill and aesthetic
sensibilities to create
beautiful smiles; and the
latest technology, such
as laser and cosmetic
dentistry.
On a Typical Day: When a
patient’s “trial smile” is
complete, I hand them
a mirror. Seeing my
patients smile, hearing
them exclaim, “WOW!”
and sometimes seeing
their tears of joy is the
most rewarding part of
my career. I love knowing
that I can help make a
positive, life-changing
difference .
I Lead By: Empathy,
compassion, understanding and empowerment.
I am honored to be one
of 346 dentists globally
to be accredited by the
American Academy of
Cosmetic Dentistry, the
world’s largest dental
organization devoted to
cosmetic dentistry, and a

these critical financial

hard for every dollar,
and their expectations
for the products and

is maximized. We
aim to exceed those

One Thing I’ve Learned
the Hard Way: You really
can’t sweat the small
stuff. At times, I have
micromanaged my
company only to find
productivity and efficiency decline. All our
employees are dedicated
to their positions, and I
have had to learn to let
go and allow them the
freedom to do their jobs
with integrity, creativity
and pride.
My Strengths: They have
changed from year to
year. During the last
several years, my
dedication and resilience
have risen to the forefront. This economy has
been extremely difficult
for everyone, but particularly small-business
owners. So, surviving
– and now flourishing
in this economy is an
accomplishment for the
entire team of CAV.
Words of Wisdom to Other
Women in Business:
Don’t give up and never
give in! Although we
would like to think things
have changed, it’s still
a man’s world, and
acceptance of a woman
is not easily obtained. We
just have to push through
and move forward with
self confidence and
determination.
Mission Statement: At
the heart of Celia Dunn
Sotheby’s International
Realty is the solid foundation for outstanding
service to our clients.
We strive to put the client
first always and give the
highest degree of service.
The relationship with
our client is a long-term
commitment – not
just for the current
purchase or sale.
Best Advice: Integrity is
of utmost importance.
Always take the honorable path and do what
you say you are going to
do. Integrity and gaining
the trust of your client is
imperative. This is what
separates Celia Dunn
Sotheby’s International
Realty.
Words of Wisdom: One
thing we have all
discovered early in the
real estate profession is
never assume anything.
Be flexible and be
prepared to adapt to all
unexpected situations. It
is important to remain in
control of the situation,
giving confidence to
your client.
Tools of the Trade: If
someone were to ask a
Realtor what three things
they couldn’t live without,
the answer would be a
Smartphone, a laptop
computer with a good
battery and a clean car
with an air conditioner
and a GPS!
Power Suit: With not
enough hours in a day,
women are being pulled
in so many directions
at once and wear so
many different hats.
Given that, what woman
wouldn’t feel in control
being able to conduct
business at home, in her
comfy clothes, in front
of her computer without
makeup!

Best Business Advice I
Ever Received: “Starting
a company is like
jumping off a cliff and
assembling the parts of
an airplane on the way
down.” I laughed when
I read it—but unless
you’ve started your
own company, you are
absolutely unaware. Days
don’t have enough hours.
It’s all a leap of faith.

On a Typical Day: I wrap up
my day job, run home,
walk Patsy Cline (my dog)
and run, bike or swim
in triathlon practice. I
work in the evenings on
Eat It and Like It. On
weekends, I’m up early
for Team in Training,
preparing for a number
of triathlons and raising
money for the Leukemia

You’d Never Guess: I’m
a classically trained
concert pianist and
spent 10 years as a
Top 40 station radio
personality. Although I
am a partner in Eat It
and Like It, I don’t cook
at all—and don’t want
to. Why cook when you
can sample food from
great restaurants or have
others cook for you?
Why Launch a New
Business in a Tough
Economy? A good idea
is a good idea, even in
tough times. Just as I
know retail establishments will thrive again,
I know people eat and
celebrate despite the
economy. Through Eat
It and Like It, I can act
on those opportunities.

Our Mission: To be the number one Mortgage Lender
with the best customer
service in Savannah.
Fidelity Bank has grown to
become one of the largest,
full service banks in Georgia. As a Mortgage team
in Savannah, we provide a
unique in-house operation
and an experience like
none other when it comes
to buying a home.
Our Business: We select the
best mortgage for each
of our client’s individual
situation. We are what
we say we are – a group
of women who value
teamwork, honesty, and
communication. Above
all, we want to do what
is in our customer’s best
interest. We do this by
educating our customers
about loan programs so
that our borrowers understand their mortgage.
Best Business Advice We
Ever Received: Mortgage
lending is an ever changing business. Learn
your trade well so that
if the market changes,
you can focus all of your
energy on a new way to
deliver to your customer.
When foreclosures had
116 sPECIAL ADVERTISING SECTION
over-ridden the real estate
market, Fidelity Bank
brought on three Renovation and Rehabilitation
loan programs. These
loans help to rehabilitate
subdivisions and neighborhoods and are now
available to the homebuyers of Savannah. Being
one of the only banks in
Georgia to offer the HomeStyle, HomePath and 203k
Streamline, Fidelity Bank
Mortgage is leading the
way to successful home
renovations. These loans
truly offer an opportunity
to turn a house into a
dream home.
One Thing We’ve Learned
the Hard Way: We have
personally and professionally found that it
is crucial to anticipate
the unexpected. It is of
the utmost importance
to get our client to a
speedy closing, so if we
see a potential red flag
during the underwriting
process, we address it.
As wives, mothers and
athletes, we know that life
does not stop when you
purchase a home. We use
an in-house approach to
underwrite, process and
close so that our clients
can continue with the
important roles in their
lives.
Words of Wisdom to Other
Women in Business: The
Golden Rule is the foundation of Fidelity Bank’s
business. Our clients and
partners recognize the
integrity with which we
provide our service. As a
team, we continually ask
ourselves, “How do we
want people to remember
us?” An impression that
lasts for years because
of a job well done is the
best compliment we can
receive.
Women
in
Business
My Mission: I take a
proactive and preventive
approach to wellness,
providing my patients
with more than just
treatment for basic
health issues. We are
living longer, but we
all want to age better.
Fortunately, with all the
advances in medicine,
we can better face—and
fight—the symptoms of
aging.
My Business: By using
the latest in anti-aging
medicine, our innovative
and integrated medical practice helps our
patients live better
and longer lives. We
specialize in bio-identical
hormone therapy to
combat the symptoms
of pre-menopause,
menopause and male
andropause, nutrition
and weight-loss plans
and minimally invasive
aesthetic procedures so
that our patients can look
as good on the outside as
they feel on the inside.
One Thing I’ve Learned
Along the Way: You will
have the greatest success if you do something
you’re passionate about.
I am passionate in my
belief that we are living
in a new age of health
care, one in which we
have the knowledge to
live better, healthier
lives.
My Power Suit: Usually a
pair of slacks with a nice
blouse or sweater set. I
spend a lot of time talking and getting to know
my patients personally,
and I think that if I am
comfortable, they’ll feel
more comfortable, too.
My Strengths: I believe
being a good listener
makes me a better
physician. I take the time
to thoroughly understand
a patient’s health
problems, which allows
me to treat them with an
individualized wellness
plan that goes far beyond
traditional medicine for
better results.

positive and consistent
return on investment.
What We Value the Most
as Women in Business:
We believe wholeheartedly in the value of
our community. Without
the close ties to the
Savannah community
we enjoy as parents, PTA
members, soccer coaches
and nonprofit board
members, we would not
fully understand what it
means to celebrate our
clients and appreciate
the fact that they are
entrusting us with their
life’s savings. That is
truly an outstanding
honor and one that, as a
firm, we genuinely hold in
the highest regard.

Our Mission: Sharing our
love of Savannah, our
knowledge of the city’s
housing market and the
investment opportunities
we offer to our clients;
in other words: “Selling
Savannah to the World!”
Our Business: MopperStapen, Realtors is a
full-service, independent
boutique brokerage
specializing in all areas
of Savannah and the
coastal community —
from the balmy beaches
of Tybee to the everexpanding west Chatham
area, from historic
downtown to mid-century
midtown. Our expertise
includes single family
homes, condos, investment properties, second
homes and new construction. We are Historic
Savannah Foundation’s
Realtor of choice and
have many other professional affiliations. As a
local company, our emphasis is establishing a
relationship of trust with
our clients and meeting
their individual needs in
an atmosphere that is
friendly, approachable
and knowledgeable. Our
goal is to ensure repeat
business.
On a Typical Day: Most
people think agents just
show property, write
contracts and attend
closings — how easy
it sounds! However, to
get from point A to the
closing table, a multitude
of tasks are involved. We
make arrangements with
attorneys, inspectors,
appraisers and lenders.
We meet developers, prep
houses, take pictures,
research values, write ad
copy and so much more!
We negotiate on behalf of
our clients, and we walk
them through every stage
of the buying and selling
process.
You’d Never Guess: We
are often the first face
of Savannah, the first
friend and the first business person with whom
newcomers interact!
We get to showcase our
beautiful community
to so many people and
often introduce long-time
residents to a whole new
side of the city.
Words of Wisdom to Other
Women in Business:
Being a realtor gives us
the opportunity to meet
many different people
from all over the world.
We get to see how people
live, and we always learn
something new with each
encounter. We have to be
flexible, understanding,
patient AND tenacious.
To be successful realtors,
we have to have clear
goals and maximize every
opportunity presented. We
have to listen to our clients and truly care about
their needs and goals
before ours. Embody
these entrepreneurial
traits, work hard and
have fun — and success
will come!

My Mission: To provide help and comfort to patients and

On a Typical Day: I take care of patients at Hospice House
or visit patients in their own homes. I work with nurses
and staff and run to numerous meetings. On top of
that, I take my girls to school, soccer and ballet. When I
finally get to bed, I just hope I’ll get the chance to do it
all over again tomorrow!
Best Business Advice I Ever Received: My dad told me a

You’d Never Guess: I flew in the cockpit of a 747. I did my high
school practicum at Key Airline when they were headquartered in
Savannah. They had an empty plane going to the Bahamas. They
received FAA clearance, and I was allowed to ride “jump seat” in
the cockpit – probably one of the neatest things I’ve ever done.
