Camp of the Cross Ministries is our camp,
our ministry . . .
THANK YOU for joining us today!
We are so pleased to welcome you to the Prairie Lake Festival for 2013!
We are especially grateful for the dedication and hard work invested by so
many whose quilts and other gifts make this day possible. Each item for
purchase today has a story - shaped by hands and hearts devoted to
Camp of the Cross and its ministry to children, youth and adults. Every
dollar we raise today makes it possible to send children to camp who
would otherwise be passed over.
That’s the motive for our joy today!
What is a quilt worth? What is each handcrafted or painted item worth?
It is impossible to “count the cost” of labor and creativity. Even the most
basic quilt requires materials costing at least $40. Please consider that
your donation is not getting something but giving a gift to our ministry!!!
Quilts and other items not receiving the minimum bid set by the Prairie
Lake Festival Committee for the live auction will be moved to either the
silent auction or returned to the ministry at Camp of the Cross. Thanks
again for your generosity. Not only are you purchasing “heirloom quality”
items, you are touching hundreds of lives who are strengthened by the
ministry of Camp of the Cross.

I think God is a quilter
Who takes His needle and thread,
To piece our world from nothingness
And give it form, instead.
And everything I see,
Are pieces from His careful hand
From tree to bumblebee.
I think we see God’s stitches
His texture everywhere;
The velvet moss, the grainy sand,
The silky strand of hair.
Stitching tight and tiny rows,
Adding to my scraps and pieces,
Seaming everything He knows.
I think He cuts the patterns
From what I throw away.
He shows me how to use each scrap
In His redeeming way.
I think God quilts a pattern
From everything I live;
But He can only stitch the quilt
From what I choose to give.
Stitching strength where I am weak.
Showing me that life He touches
Embraces everything I seek.
From the patience in each thread;
Proving length of time no barrier;
Treating time a gift, instead.
So, in the life I’m living
With pieces everywhere,
I’ll give them to the Quilter
To stitch with loving care.
I’ll give them to the Quilter
Unwanted though they be,
And with His work of quilting
He’ll make a quilt of me.

on cool setting. The log cabin design dates back to pioneer days and is one of
the most popular quilting patterns. The quilt block is symbolic of life itself. The
center square, traditionally red, represents the heart or hearth of the home. The
strips around the center square represent the logs of the cabin. The light side
of the block stands for the sun in front of the cabin. Compare the “light side” to
babies, weddings, family, and friends. The dark side of the block represents the
shadow behind the cabin, such as death, divorce, or disaster. The “dark”
moments in life help us to realize how wonderful the “light“ moments really are!
