Micah 6:1-5 Remember What God Has Done
Micah 6:1-5
Remember What God Has Done
God sends Moses to rescue his people
7
The LORD said, “I have indeed seen the
misery of my people in Egypt. I have
heard them crying out because of their
slave drivers, and I am concerned about
their suffering. 8 So I have come down to
rescue them . . .
(Exodus 3:7-8a)
God prevents the prophet Balaam
from placing a curse on Israel
…So Balak son of Zippor, who was king of Moab at
that time, 5 sent messengers to summon Balaam son
of Beor, who was at Pethor, near the Euphrates River,
in his native land. Balak said: “A people has come out
of Egypt; they cover the face of the land and have
settled next to me. 6 Now come and put a curse on
these people, because they are too powerful for me.
Perhaps then I will be able to defeat them and drive
them out of the land. For I know that whoever you
bless is blessed, and whoever you curse is cursed.”
(Numbers 22)
God leads his people into Canaan
1
Early in the morning Joshua and all the
Israelites set out from Shittim and went to
the Jordan, where they camped before
crossing over.
(Joshua 3:1)
19 The people came up out of the Jordan on
the tenth day of the first month, and they
camped in Gilgal on the east border of
Jericho.
(Joshua 4:19)
12 stones to commemorate God’s
righteous acts
20
Those twelve stones, which they had taken out of the
Jordan, Joshua set up in Gilgal, 21 saying to the Israelites,
"When your children ask their parents in time to come,
'What do these stones mean?' 22 then you shall let your
children know, 'Israel crossed over the Jordan here on dry
ground.' 23 For the LORD your God dried up the waters of
the Jordan for you until you crossed over, as the LORD your
God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up for us until we
crossed over, 24 so that all the peoples of the earth may
know that the hand of the LORD is mighty, and so that you
may fear the LORD your God forever."
Remember the “righteous acts” of God
in Jesus’ death and resurrection
13
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and
brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in
whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
(Colossians 1:13)
21
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in
your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he
has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death
to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free
from accusation. (Colossians 1:21-22)
Reflect on being:
rescued from the bondage of Sin and Death,
forgiven of your debt of sins,
made a new creation,
brought into God’s family,
empowered by God’s Spirit, and
filled with the hope of salvation.
