layout is portrait format, use the label to balance the
vertical space. If the layout is landscape, use the label

Exclusion Zone
It’s important not to crowd the Engineered Label.
Leave as much space between the label and other
visual elements as possible so it can be seen clearly
wherever it appears. The minimum exclusion zone
is equal to the height of the Engineered Parts &
Accessories text panel. No text or other visual
elements should appear within this space. There is
no exclusion zone on one side of the label as it must
bleed off the edge of any layout. Use good judgement
when selecting label lock-up for layout composition
and harmony.

The minimum size of the stacked Engineered Label
is 25mm width. The minimum size of horizontal
Engineered Label is 50mm width.

To be used for headlines, callouts and numbers. The
condensed font allows for an increased character
count where the space is limited. It should used be

STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY AND LINE DRAWINGS. BOTH SHOULD
SHOWCASE THE PRECISION AND ENGINEERING OF THE
PRODUCTS. PHOTOGRAPHY SHOT IN A STAGED AND HIGH
QUALITY PRESENTATION IS PREFERRED.
LINE DRAWINGS CAN BE USED TO COVER A PRODUCT TYPE
WITH THE ADDITION OF A STICKER TO PROVIDE PRODUCT
SPECIFIC DETAILS. THIS LINE DRAWING SOLUTION IS
EVERGREEN AND WON’T REQUIRE A UNIQUE PACKAGE FOR
EACH INDIVIDUAL PRODUCT.

The studio photography should trigger a feeling
of precision and engineering. Products should be
shot with the intention of cutting them out from the
background. This approach will work on both light
and dark packaging types.

LINE DRAWING

Line drawing can be used to represent product
categories. The line art should be generic enough
to cover the broadest product line, without
misrepresenting the product characteristics. With the
line drawing a sticker is used to specify details such
as model, size and color. Examples are shown later in
this guideline.
When creating these Line drawings use an Outer
stroke 2PX. and an inner stroke of 1PX.

Design
All Polaris PG&A packaging must be approved by the PG&A Marketing Department and must include the
appropriate legal disclaimers and copyright information. Contact your PG&A Marketing Department project
manager to obtain the appropriate disclaimers. The following pages outline the requirements for usage PG&A
packaging materials.
When preparing to design a package solution using the Engineered Label make sure to have:
- Determined if the Package is Evergreen or Specific
- Prepared all Product Photography or Line Art
- Determined if the product is Premium or Standard
- Approved Copy (English/French)

Language
French Canadian translations and compliance with Canadian packaging laws are required for all packaging. Must
comply with Section 51, stated below:
Products (Section 51)
Under the Charter, subject to certain exceptions, “inscriptions” (i.e., text or statements) on a product, its
container, on its wrapping, or on a document or object supplied with it (including the directions for use and the
warranty certificates); must be in French. The French inscriptions may be accompanied with a translation or
translations but no inscription in another language may be given greater prominence than in French.
This means that bilingual inscriptions are permitted but the French must, in all cases, be no less prominent than
the other language(s) used. It is a matter of visual impression and, as such, there is no specific rule to follow. That
being said, as a rule of thumb, we recommend having the fonts and sizes identical for the inscriptions in English
and French and to have the same number of logos in each language.
What is covered by “document or object supplied with it”? According to the Office (this is their interpretation, not
the law itself, which means that a court could disagree with the Office’s interpretation), the “document or object”
is any piece of paper or object given to consumers at the time of purchase that is an accessory to the product.
In practice, the Office considers that a “document supplied with it” is often an instruction manual with a warranty
certificate. A coupon printed on a wrapping is also considered a “document supplied with it.” With the exception
of product names, all copy, including features and benefits copy, must be printed in both English and French.

Positioning heirarchy is crucial to allow the customer
to easily understand the relationship between
product, vehicle, and brand. Using the correct layout
enables the customer to easily identify the compatible
product to match their needs.
The positioning of the Engineered Label is determined
by one of the three layouts below.

Polaris Primary - The Engineered Label is used as
the only identifier located at the top of the package.
No co-brand or vehicle brand logos are used in
tangent.
Polaris Co-brand - Co-brand logos are given equal
weight and importance in terms of visual hierarchy by
aligning them with the Engineered Label. This lockup
helps build brand equity within Polaris Engineered
by showcasing a strategic alignment with other
manufacturers.
Polaris Secondary - The vehicle brand logo is
placed at the top of the package with the Engineered
Label in a secondary position.

Adaptation of Graphic Elements
Depending on the layout, the Engineered Label
can align either horizontally to the top or bottom or

UPC Label Placement
Placement of the UPC should take into consideration
the form factor and display orientation of the product.
On large packages it is intended to be on the back
panel, to provide ease of identification and scanning.
The UPC is a component of the sticker for products
that use the box sticker combination.
