Rejoice in the Lord Always
Should our memory ever fail relative to
why we ought to give thanks, remember
that God loves a celebration. If we can
do this repeatedly, it is clear that God
would be pleased.
As believers thanksgiving should not be
reserved for one day of the year, but we
should live a lifestyle of thanksgiving.
We are admonished in the Word of God
according to Philippians 4:4, “Rejoice in
the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” This is obviously not a suggestion for one day a year, but we are to live
a life full of joy!
The comments Paul make are sometimes
misconstrued in the same way many have
not quite grasped the words of James. It

Clean up the yard
Pick up fallen fruit. Remove dead annuals. Cut back spent

Fertilize
A fall fertilizing of the lawn can help strengthen the turf

Philippians 2:1-2 If there be therefore any consolation in
Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the
Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye
be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord,
of one mind.
God has given each of us the ability to do certain things
well; a special unique gift to use for the kingdom of God.
These gifts are not just for our own benefit; but to benefit
of the entire body of Christ. These special abilities are
called Spiritual gifts.
Spiritual gifts (or charismata) are defined as endowments
given by the Holy Spirit to every member of the body of
Christ. It can also be defined as a "God-given assignment,
capacity, and desire to perform a function within the body
of Christ with joy, energy, and effectiveness." A spiritual
gift is not a natural talent but supernatural graces which
we need to fulfill the mission of the church. Spiritual gifts
are freely given by God and cannot be earned.
Why did God give use these gifts? Well, Ephesians 4:1213 tells us … The gifts of the Spirit were given “for the
perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry,
for the edifying of the body of Christ”.
For the Work of Ministry
First Lady Murphy often says there should not be any
lady not working in ministry. And this is true. Ministry
means service and can be translated as servanthood or
service given in love. Serving others is the very essence
of ministry. “For even the Son of Man came not to be
ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a
ransom for many” Mark 10:44-45.
We were given spiritual gifts to serve. Each of us
should use whatever gift we have received to serve
others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace. God has
given many gifts to the body of Christ. Whatever gift
He has given you, whether it be the gift of helps,
leadership, administration, teaching, serving, or
exhortation (just to name a few) – you should use these
gifts for service in ministry. When we serve others, we
are showing the love of God and should serve with
gladness. Colossians 3:23-24 says And whatsoever you
do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not unto men;
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of
the inheritance; for ye serve the Lord Christ.
Page 3
For the edifying of the body of Christ
God has gifted each of us with a special gift to support
His mission for the church. All gifts should work in sync
with one another. We may not have the same gifts, but we
should all be using our gifts for the same purpose, which
is to glorify God.
You may know my daughter plays basketball and I often
tell her to develop whatever skills she has on the
basketball court by practicing and working on her unique
ability. Everybody can’t be the point guard making all the
shots, somebody has to pass the ball, defend the goal and
execute the plays. I tell her to use what she has to help the
team win.
Like this, each of us should use whatever gift God has
given us to help the ministry move forward. You might
not be able to do it like this one or speak like that one but
whatever gift you have, it is needed for the whole team to
win. Just as God has arranged the parts in the body (1 Cor.
12:18); so has he arranged spiritual gifts for the body of
Christ. The bible says we are workers together in unity.
No gift is too small or insignificant. God has a purpose for
each of us.
For the perfecting of the saints
Perfecting is a term that can be used to refer to "setting
a broken bone." It means "putting into the condition in
which it should be." The ministry guides and directs us
into a spiritual condition acceptable to God. We are not
just called to be saved; we are called to perfection developing the mature, spiritual character.
1 Peter 4:10 says “As every man hath received the gift,
even so minister the same one to another …” If you
have perfected your gift, help develop someone else.
On my job we have what you call SMEs or Subject
Matter Expects. These are people who have mastered a
particular assignment or subject. They are relied upon
to share their knowledge of a particular subject and
train the less experienced. We should use this same
principle when helping others in the body of Christ
develop their gifts or fulfill an assignment God has
given them. This too helps move the church forward.
Exercising your gift may not always be easy. It may
cause you to be uncomfortable, require your time and
commitment and you may have to work with difficult
people. This is why you need love.

The bible says with loving kindness have I drawn thee.
You can have the greatest of gifts but if you don’t have
love, it would be of no value and you would only be
making noise as a tinkling cymbal. 1 Cor. 13: 4-6
(New Living Testament) says, “Love is very patient and
kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud,
never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not
demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It
does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when
others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but
rejoices whenever truth wins out.” Colossians 3:14
“And over all these virtues put on love, which binds
them all together in perfect unity”

I hope you are inspired to use the gift or gifts God has
given you for work in ministry. If you are unsure of
your gift, ask God to reveal it to you and He will; but in
the meantime don’t stop working – work while it is day
for there will be a day when no man can work.
Your gift should not lie dormant in you. God has made
a special investment in you and he is expecting a return
on His investment.

Wisdom, according to dictionary.com, is the quality or
state of being wise; knowledge of what is true or right
coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity,
discernment, or insight. Therefore it defines being wise as
having the power of discerning and judging properly as to
what is true or right; possessing discernment, judgment, or
discretion. Easton’s Bible Dictionary states that wisdom
is a moral rather than an intellectual quality. However, the
bible uses the term to refer both to moral reasoning and
human intellect or skill. All definitions of wisdom point
to one source; GOD. Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord
gives wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and
understanding.”
There are many examples throughout the bible where
GOD gave wisdom to men. In Genesis GOD gave wisdom
to Noah to build the ark. Exodus 28 – 35 shows how GOD
skilled various people to make the items needed for the
Tabernacle. Throughout the book of Joshua, we see GOD
giving Joshua the wisdom to conquer the land of Canaan.
And David declared “He (GOD) trains my hands to
war.” (1 Sam. 22:35, Psalm 18:34, 144:1). These are all
examples of GOD giving individuals knowledge or skill.
Now in Exodus, GOD gives Moses the Ten
Commandments, the moral wisdom for His people to live
by. At Solomon’s request, GOD gave him the wisdom to
govern the people of Israel (2 Chronicles 1:10). The book
of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and James all teaches the moral
wisdom by which individuals should live.
And then GOD gave Jesus. Jesus is the personification of
wisdom. In John 14: 6 during His discourse with Thomas,
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Since
wisdom is defined as the knowledge of what is true, we
can conclude that knowing Jesus Christ; the truth, is
absolutely essential in order for one to be wise or have
wisdom. In other words, know Jesus, know wisdom; no
Jesus, no wisdom. Likewise, we often refer the Word of
God as the Word of truth and the book of John starts by
identifying Jesus as the Word.
Page 5
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God. The same was in the
beginning with God. All things were made by him; and
without him was not anything made that was made. In
him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the
Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we
beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the
Father,) full of grace and truth.” (John 1: 1-4, 14)
The study of wisdom has led to this conclusion. Wisdom
is simply applying the Word of God to your life. It
involves seeking God, hearing His voice, and obeying His
word in matters of morality, stewardship, and business.
In conclusion, it is imperative that wisdom is applied to
daily life. In order to walk in wisdom remember to do the
following:
Worship the Lord: “The reverent and worshipful fear of
the Lord is the beginning (the chief and choice part) of
Wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is
insight and understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10 AMP)
Inquire GOD’s wisdom: “ If you need wisdom, ask our
generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not
rebuke you for asking.” (James 1:5, NLT)
Submit to the Word of GOD: “ Let us hear the
conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep
his commandments: for this is the whole duty of
man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
Depend on the Lord: “Lean on, trust in, and be confident
in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not
rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your
ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He
will direct and make straight and plain your
paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP)
Omit worldly wisdom: “ Blessed (happy, fortunate,
prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and
lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their
advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands
[submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners
walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the
scornful [and the mockers] gather. But his delight and
desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the
precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he
habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and
by night.” (Psalms 1: 1-2, AMP)
Make wisdom your priority: “Above all and before all,
do this: Get Wisdom! Write this at the top of your list:
Get Understanding!” (Proverbs 4:7, MSG)

Veterans Day is an official United States holiday that honor s people who have ser ved in the U.S. Ar med For ces,
also known as veterans. It is a federal holiday that is observed on November 11th. It coincides with other holidays
such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also mark the anniversary of the end of World War I (major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the
11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect). The United States also originally observed Armistice Day; it then evolved into the current Veterans Day holiday in 1954.
Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day; Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving.
Please take time to thank the saints who have served/or are currently serving our country!
If you are a veteran or service member not included in the above list,
please forgive us for the omission. Send an email to

to ministry. It encourages the development of the whole
man, encompassing both spiritual and natural. This is
accomplished through not only teaching and sharing insight
from the Word of God, but also firmly encouraging
application of Bible based principles.
