Property Improvement: PROGRESS!
There are many projects that are part of the 2016 Property Improvement Phase 1 project. Hopefully
you have seen the activity already! Acoustic panels are mounted on the walls in the Fellowship Hall on
freshly painted walls. The platform has been installed for the music area of the chancel and the east
side alcove has a new wall and a fresh coat of paint. By the first of May the Fellowship Hall woodwork
will be cleaned and freshly oiled. And after that the hanging acoustic baffles will be installed.
On Sunday, June 5 join us for a Calvary-focused Faith in Action Day. As on every FIA day we will have
8:15 AM worship as usual. At the 9:30 AM worship we will ceremonially move the worship space from
the sanctuary to the temporary location in the Fellowship Hall. Then we will have a commissioning and
send everyone out to put their faith into action right here at Calvary. The biggest project of the day will
be cleaning out the sanctuary with the biggest task removing and storing all of the pews! Many hands
make light work! We will top off the morning with a Calvary picnic lunch. Watch the e-news, Facebook
page and the June newsletter for more details about this special day.
The sanctuary renovations begin in earnest on Monday, June 6. Wood will be cleaned and oiled and
rock vacuumed; the burlap will become a painted, sheetrock wall; new sound and lights will be installed
high up on the ceiling; flooring will be installed; and pews will be upholstered. There will be tasks that
need volunteers throughout the project period. Call the office and let Polly know if you are interested in
being called to help. Another way you can help is to apply for a Thrivent Action Team grant to support
the project. Contact Polly to help formulate your grant request. Continued on page 2...
