By now you will have received an invitation packet for our Annual Golf Outing on
Wednesday, May 13th at Bloomingdale
Golf Club. This material is also included in
this issue of our newsletter. The golf package includes lunch, dinner and amenities that make for a day filled with
friends, laughs, food, drink, and of course, golf. While “Mother Nature”
has been toying with us this season and all eyes will be focused on the
“Doppler Guy” on May 13th, no worries, we are prepared! All golfers
will receive a top-of-the-line zip-up fleece vest. Not a golfer? Consider
joining us for our famous pig roast dinner! We’re also seeking sponsors,
donors and volunteers.
Please review the enclosed forms to consider your participation. Be
sure to take advantage of our “Early Bird” discounts to foursomes who
respond by April 10th.
The outing is one of our signature events and our most productive fundraiser. Your support allows us to continue as a viable force in the community, and in turn, we can continue to give back through a variety of
ways including our Scholarship Program. If you know of a graduating
high school student who is eligible for one of our $1,750.00 scholarships, please remember the application deadline is April 17th.
At this month’s Membership Dinner we will recognize retiring officials
from the Village of Roselle and welcome the newly-elected officials at
Jameson’s Charhouse on April 21st. Later in the month, we will meet
at 50/50 Furniture Consignment for Business After Hours on April
29th.
I look forward to seeing you at the Golf Outing and our upcoming
events.

Promote Your Business Through
Residential Greeter Service
New residents in the community can be a source of new
business for you. They tend to purchase more and have
a need to develop new business relationships—whether
it’s finding the best restaurants in town, sprucing up their
yards or homes, or fulfilling medical, financial or legal
needs.
By participating in the Chamber’s Residential Greeter Service, you have the opportunity to promote your business
to new residents and develop lasting business relationships.
The Residential Greeter Service allows you to place advertising items in our New Resident Packages, which are
delivered to an average of 50 residents per month. The
items could be brochures, flyers, menus, coupons, magnets, key chains, etc. The cost is $175 for a 6-month period ($335 for non-Chamber members). That’s only $29/
month!

Since the summer flood of 2008, the Village Board has
committed to increasing communications with its residents. The Board recently voted to approve an agreement to provide emergency notification services to the
community. CodeRed, the company selected to provide
the service, offers a web-based interface to deliver prerecorded phone messages to at least 60,000 households
an hour. CodeRed, which does not require the purchase
of additional hardware, software, or phone lines, will cost
the Village approximately $10,000 annually, an expenditure included in the Village’s 2009 budget. The initial
telephone database will be created through utility billing
information. Eventually residents and business owners
will be able to manage contact information in the database, such as adding a cell phone number, via a link
that will appear on the Village’s web site. The CodeRed
system is designed for emergency notification purposes
only.
As a reminder, we have “Coffee with the Board” the first
Saturday of every month from 9 – 10:30am on the Second Floor of the Village Hall, in the conference room.
Everyone is welcome and this venue offers everyone an
informal place to discuss anything that may be on your
mind concerning the Village.
