David Robinson is a versatile
singer and actor frequently
invited to perform in opera,
operetta, zarzuela, musicals,
oratorio

Latin-American
concerts, having performed in

He most recently was invited to
participate in a film project, The
Bohemians.
Recognizing the importance of
the arts, he also collaborates with numerous arts, educational and
cultural organizations in Mexico, United States and Austria as an
advisor for artistic and cultural exchange events.

Biography
David Robinson
Baritone
Born in Mexico City, Davíd Robinson began his career as a finalist for
two consecutive years in the National Voice Competition "Carlo
Morelli." Subsequently the National Opera Company of Mexico
engaged him as a soloist for opera, operetta, and zarzuela.
Upcoming engagements included the role of Gabriel von Eisenstein
in DIE FLEDERMAUS, which he successfully performed in Tel-Aviv, as
well as a series of upcoming concerts in Mexico, Austria and South
America, including repertoire from RIGOLETTO, LA TRAVIATA, BALLO
IN MASCHERA, DON CARLO, IL TROVATORE, DIE TOTE STADT, I
PAGLIACCI, TANNHÄUSER, FAUST & others.
Previous performances included the comedic role of Anibal in LUISA
FERNANDA at Theater an der in Wien with Plácido Domingo; several
roles
in
Leonard
Bernstein's CANDIDE with
the Munich
Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra with Kristjan
Järvi; recitals in Spain with renowned Spanish pianist David Gómez;
MADAME BUTTERFLY in Hong Kong and a series of concerts in the
Philippines.
Other engagements included a gala concert with the New National
Opera
of
Tokyo
in DIE
LUSTIGE
WITWE
and
LA
TRAVIATA; CANDIDE with
Musikfest
Bremen and
Wiener
Konzerthaus, as well as the role of Thug in the world-premiere of IL
POSTINO at Theater an der Wien. After these performances in
Vienna, he was invited by Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris and the
Palace of Fine Artes and the Cervantino International Music
Festival in Mexico to perform the role of Cura in this world-premiere.
He sang other roles in DON GIOVANNI, FALSTAFF, LA TRAVIATA,
RIGOLETTO, DIE FLEDERMAUS and with Los Angeles Opera
in PARSIFAL and LUISA FERNANDA.
Being a versatile performer, Mr. Robinson made his debut with Lyric
Opera of San Diego as The Padre in MAN OF LA MANCHA. ("The most

He recently finished filming the role of Al P. Benoit in the film "The
Bohemians", directed by José Luis Cortés, which will be premiered
during 2013.
David Robinson also an active concert performer, giving recital and
oratorio performances in the United States, Mexico, Europe & Asia;
performed as a soloist in Mozart's REQUIEM with the Sacramento
Choral & Orchestra Society. ("Of the four soloists, the shining star
fell to David Robinson. It's easy to see why Robinson is one of

He has performed title roles in Zarzuelas in the United States and
Latin-America such as LUISA FERNANDA, LA TABERNERA DEL
PUERTO, EL BARBERILLO DE LAVAPIES, LA VERBENA DE LA PALOMA,
and LA DEL MANOJO DE ROSAS. Some of which were recorded and
broadcast for PBS in the United States.
Other
highlights
include
concert
versions
in EVGENI
ONEGIN and LIBUSHE with renowned Czech soprano Eva Urbanová.
As well as a recording with Albany Records in Boris Blacher's ROMEO
UND JULIA.
In Washington D.C. he performed a recital at the Mexican Cultural
Institute as part of the Embassy Series. He sang in THE DREAM OF
GERONTIUS with the North of England Festival Coir.
On
tour
he
performed
operettas
such
as
THE
MERRY
WIDOW and THE DESERT SONG("The show only provides one solo..,

Recipient of a Fulbright scholarship he attended the Academy of
Vocal Arts in Philadelphia for a year. He also attended SIVAM (Mexico
City) and the Israel Vocal Arts Institute (Tel Aviv.) He has had the
opportunity to study with artists of the caliber of Franco Corelli,
Renata Scotto, Francisco Araiza, Nello Santi, Mark Oswald, Dianna
Ruggiero, George Shirley and Otoniel Gonzaga.
He has sung in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and
the United Nations, as well as with acclaimed companies throughout
the United States, Europe and Asia, including the Metropolitan Opera
Guild, Opera Orchestra of New York, Los Angeles Opera, Connecticut
Grand Opera, Sarasota Opera, Palm Beach Opera and the Washington
National Opera, Theater an der Wien, Wiener Konzerthaus, London
Symphony, Théâtre du Châtelet, Bremen Musikfest, Munich
Philarmonic Hong-Kong Opera and New National National Theater
Tokio among others.
Some future projects this year include concerts and a recording of a
jazz-classic program with arrangements of new and old LatinAmerican and world music songs, including new compositions by
various composers, some of which will be presented at Wiener
Konzerthaus and the role of the Singer in a production by Wiener
Festwochen of “The Ballad of El Muerto”, music by Diego Collatti and
text by Juan Tafur.
