NOR Couplings
NOR fittings are designed for pairing of pipes, hoses, spray tips etc.. for use in fire fighting and flushing with
water. Used by Norwegian fire departments, municipalities, water and sewage facilities etc. couplings, which are
of claw principle, be connected each other with two equal parts, ie not male or female, but “unisex”.
The new NOR Coupling is able to withstand pressure up to 60 Bar.
NOR Couplings come in 3 different lock sizes - lock 1, lock 2 and Lock 3 - from the largest to the smallest. On
the opposite side of the “claw” is the interface to the hose or tubes, tube socket in various dimensions (from 1 - 3
“) or pipe threads, interior / exterior (BSP) (from 1-3 “). Lock 2 is used mostly in the marine / offshore sector.

DUAL AGENT
Dual Agent Units are manually operated hose reel stations, discharging dry chemical powder and water/foam, intending to
be used by trained fire fighting personnel. The Dual Agent hose reel is supplied with two individual hoses, where one hose is
intended for dry chemical and the other for water/foam. The hose reel is equipped with a dual agent nozzle that has individual
open/shut valves, and with a twist-action selection of jet or fog on the water/foam side, giving full control of the two agents.
Dual Agent Units are rapidly activated, and they are simple to use. The dry chemical powder gives a rapid knockdown of
large scale fires, while water/foam gives cooling of hot surfaces and sealing of liquid pool fires. The Dual Agent Units must be
installed in the vicinity of the area they are to protect.
These hose reels are extremely efficient units for protection of areas containing hydrocarbons or alcohols, such as helicopter
decks and process areas.

NOHAs standard Dual Agent Hose Reels are supplied as a skid mounted system,

Rapid fire protection for sites where flammable and hazardous liquids are stored and processed. To get the best results from these
branchpipes it is recommended to use with either Tankmaster Fluoroprotein foam or Alcoseal AR-FFFP multi-purpose foam concentrate.

HI-COMBAT Medium Expansion Foam Branchpipes
Angus MEX Branchpipes produce medium expansion foam which is effective in a wide range of fires involving both flammable liquids
and solids. Fabricated in stainless steel the units are tough, lightweight and compact, fitting easily into fire appliance lockers. They
produce long throws of a coherent foam stream at low pressures and the high volume of foam produced gives rapid coverage over
a large area but with minimum water usage. This makes them ideal for rapid foam cover in outdoor situations or for enclosed fires

FOAM CONCENTRATES
Multipurpose Foam
Niagara, Alcoseal and Tridol ATF are versatile alcohol-resistant foam suitable for use on hydrocarbons and flammable liquids.
Niagara is a universal, or alcohol-resistant foam, that may be used in a large number of risk cases where hydrocarbons and solvents
are present. What distinguishes it from other universal foams is that it contains no polymer additives. This means there is less sticky,
or in other words, more liquid, and thus flows freely through pumps and pipes and achieve good accuracy in all types of dispensing
equipment.
Film Forming Fluorprotein (FFFP)
Petroseal FFFP is the world’s leading foam for airport fire services. It combines the speed of AFFF with
the post-fire security of FluoroProtein. Petroseal is a Film Forming Fluoroprotein (FFFP) foam – the only

Fluorprotein (FP)
Tankmaster™ is a superior quality FluoroProtein (FP) fire fighting foam concentrate for extinguishing and securing flammable hydrocarbon liquid fires. In particular it is a powerful and cost-effective agent for the protection of a wide range of hydrocarbons including
crude oil, regular leaded gasoline, unleaded gasoline containing up to 20% Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE), and pure MTBE.
Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF)
Tridol S premium grade AFFF produces a thin aqueous film that shoots ahead of the foam blanket to provide
exceptionally fast flame knockdown and extinguishment. It is available in 1, 3 and 6% grades and also a
number of low temperature versions. Tridol C standard grade AFFF combines performance with
affordability, while Tridol M AFFF is US Mil Spec grade.
High Expansion (Hi Ex)
Expandol produces large-volumes of high expansion foam for use in total flooding applications, marine fire fighting and Liquefied
Natural Gas (LNG) applications. It is used in combination with the Turbex Mk2 portable high expansion foam generator or Fixed
Turbex foam equipment.
Expandol used at medium and high expansion combats fires in three ways:
• Initial contact with fire generates a large volume of steam reducing the available oxygen to
create an inert atmosphere.
• The high water content of medium expansion foam produces a valuable cooling effect.
• The large volume of foam generated engulfs the area and totally seals off and extinguishes
any remaining fires.
Class A
Forexpan S is used at 0.1 to 1.0% depending on the application method. It meets the requirements of the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service and NFPA 1150 Standard on Fire Fighting Foam Chemicals fo Class A Fuels in Rural, Suburban and Vegetated
Areas (1999).
Forexpan S is a synthetic fire fighting foam concentrate specially formulated for Class A applications such as forestry and wildland fire
control, structural fires, and tyre and paper fires. The balanced chemical system in Forexpan reduces the surface tension of water to
increase the penetrating power into burning Class A materials.
Fluorine-Free Foam (F3)
Syndura ia an award-winning operational F3 Foam for securing flammable hydrocarbon liquid fires.
F3 training foams mimic the foam properties of front-line operational foams, enabling firefighters to train and test equipment and

Argonite inert gas system
Argonite is a blend of argon and nitrogen gases that occur naturally
in the atmosphere. It is popular with organisations that prefer to use a
non-chemical suppression agent. With zero ODP, zero GWP and zero
atmospheric lifetime, Argonite has excellent environmental credentials.
It works by displacing oxygen and reducing from the normal 21% to a
level that will not support combustion. A typical design concentration
of 40% will reduce the oxygen level to 12.5% within 60 seconds. In
occupied areas personnel can continue to breathe safely at this level
for short periods of time.
Argonite is used for the purpose of fighting fires in almost all combustible materials. It can extinguishing fires in
flammable liquids. Argonite is not electrically conductive and therefore very suitable for extinguishing fires in electronic equipment
Self-acting suppression
The effectiveness of this system comes from the red detection tubing that ruptures when exposed to a
flame. The specialized tubing combines leak resistance, flexibility, durability and precise temperature
sensitivity, allowing it to react quickly when the heat from a fire is present. The flexible, narrow tubing
is particularly applicable in small spaces and connects to one of the custom engineered valves and a
cylinder that contains the best fire suppression agent for the particular hazard: powder, foam, water, or
CO2.
Designed for simple installation, often very near the source of a potential fire, the system is a self-activating suppression system that reliably suppresses fires in seconds. No electricity required.

DELUGE SYSTEMS
Deluge Systems are named from the ’deluge’ of water they provide when activated. A Deluge System is normally the main fire fighting
system on any offshore installation, used to protect process or drilling areas and other high risk sites. The Deluge system is normally an
automatic system, which is triggered by a fire detector in the protected area, and which is using water as the extinguishing agent. The
most basic Deluge System consists of only 3 parts: Deluge Control Valve, distribution pipework and Deluge Nozzles.
Deluge system application
A Deluge system may be used to protect almost any area as it provides:
• Flame extinguishment
• Cooling
• Fire control
Deluge systems, using water or water/foam, will extinguish fires in any, or in a combination, of the following ways:
• Surface cooling
• Smothering, by produced steam
• Emulsification
• Dilution
• Other factors
Except in very rare cases, where the application of water may cause certain chemicals to burn or explode, Deluge systems will have
a beneficial effect on all types of fires. Even in cases, such as fire in leaking, pressurized Gas equipment, where flame extinguishment
cannot be achieved, the overall cooling effect, with the resulting protection of adjacent equipment, will prevent the fire from spreading
and will greatly reduce the damage to both equipment and structure.

Multivalve deluge Skid
Multivalve deluge skids are suitable for use in compact installations such as offshore platforms, where the distance between protected
areas is limited. All our deluge skids are based on the C300 deluge control valve. Valve and piping materials may be titanium, duplex
stainless steel etc. Skid enclosures are made from stainless steel, insulated and heated if required. Skids are available with foam proportioning facilities, and can be equipped with full size test lines for realistic functional testing.
Single deluge skid
Single valve deluge skids are available for installations where it is necessary to install the valve skid adjacent to the protected area.
The valve skid uses the C300 deluge control valve. The standard design for all deluge skids is with rigid lightweight corrugated
stainless steel enclosure. Deluge skids can also be supplied as open skid units. The valve skids will normally include a manual by-pass
valve. The systems are available with instrument air control, or direct firewater control for system release.

Deluge valve skids are available with different types of foam supply arrangements. Foam can be supplied pressurized from a central
foam unit, or with the foam tank integrated into the skid design as part of the corrugated stainless steel enclosure at the back of the
unit. Mixing of foam into the firewater can be achieved by use of balanced pressure foam proportions, foam inductors, constant flow
foam valves, or water driven foam proportioning pumps.
Foaming agents, such as AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam), is very effective against Hydrocarbon pool fires. Cooling is used to
protect structural members and equipment from heat radiation, due to an on-going fire, so that major damages and fire propagation is
avoided.

The C300 high performance fluid control valve is an extremely versatile wafer type unit with a varied
number of options and applications. The valve was developed in conjunction with major oil companies
to perform in harsh offshore petrochemical environments and in use today throughout the world.

ANGUS FYRHED - High velocity water spray nozzle
The Angus Fyrhed high velocity water spray nozzle is intended for use in engineered fire protection systems to give exposure protection
to capital equipment. The water velocity and droplet size are engineered to provide good exposure protection of capital equipment
where a significant throw is required or when the nozzle is positioned outside where high wind speeds may be encountered.
The Fyrhed nozzle is also suitable for controlling fuel fires involving high viscosity, high flashpoint (above 66ºC) fuels, or for use with
foam-water mixes to achieve additional fire protection especially on flammable liquids.
Each nozzle incorporates a unique swirl in the water passage designed to give an even distribution of water throughout the cone. The
minimum passage clearance in the swirl is 4.5mm, which when combined with the 3mm mesh inlet filter minimises the possibility of
blockage.

ANGUS THERMOSPRAY - Medium velocity water spray nozzle
The Angus Thermospray medium velocity spray nozzle is designed to produce a solid cone of evenly distributed water droplets, the
majority of which are less than 0.4mm Ø. The water velocity at the nozzle exit lies between 15 and 25 m/sec when used within the
recommended operating pressure range of 1.4 to 3.5 bar. Above 3.5 bar the droplet size decreases reducing the fire plume penetration and increasing the risk of spray pattern distortion by wind.
The Angus Thermospray is designed primarily for use in engineered fire protection systems to provide exposure protection or to
combat fuel fires with a flashpoint below 66ºC. Where fast flame knock down and security against burn back are important Angus
Foam-Water nozzles should be considered.
For protection of risks involving fuels with a flashpoint above 66ºC, for exposed protection, long throws or where high wind speeds
are expected Angus Fyrhed high velocity nozzles should be used.

GAS CARTRIDGE POWDER EXTINGUISHERS
NOHA gas cartridge stainless steel powder extinguishers are especially suitable for use where the safety

Course and traning
NOHA’s courses give participants theoretical and practical knowledge that forms the basis for an understanding of fire
prevention and workplace safety.
NOHA holds open courses where it is possible for anyone to sign up. In addition to the standard courses, we offer
tailor-made courses to meet individual business needs. Most courses can be held at both the enterprise and at NOHA’s
premises. For courses held at your company site, it is assumed that there is adequate space for teaching and any practical exercises. The course certificate is issued to both the individual participant and the company.
Exercises
Practical experience with fire fighting equipment and exercises on realistic situations is crucial for the best possible
outcome the day it is serious.

SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
ServICE OFFSHORE
NOHA’s service engineers perform routine maintenance tasks as well as ad-hoc service and repairs within the offshore
and petrochemical industries.
Service in practice
Daily inspection should be performed by separate operations personnel. Periodic inspection and system check is
performed by NOHA, resulting in:
• Status of certificates
• Review with operations personnel
• Training / repetition in the use of equipment
• Suggestions for changes and improvements
Test station
NOHA have a test station for testing the flow and pressure conditions in pipes and valves. The test station is a closed
system. With a water reservoir of 30 m3 and a diesel driven pump, the station can carry out flow and pressure tests up
to 10 000 l / min. @ 13 bar g.
ServICE ON FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS
Knowing that an extinguishing system is working 24 hours a day all year round is reassuring, but assumes that it
carried out regular inspection and maintenance by competent person. As a service
customer of NOHA, we can take care of this for you.
Regular service secure that everything is working properly and that no changes have been
made ​​to your system documentation or construction conditions.
Maintenance in accordance with applicable law
Service intervals are defined mostly by the supplier in the aquisition document and the
service is performed in accordance with applicable regulations and manufacturers’
requirements. The task will be completed by issuance of a complete report and
documentation of certain maintenance routines.
SERVICE ON MANUAL FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT
In order to maintain fire safety there must be performed routine control, inspection and maintenance of the manual fire
fighting equipment, and this must be documented. NOHA performs annual maintenance of fire fighting equipment
according to NS 3910 for portable fire extinguishers and EN 671-3 for fire hose reels. After completion of
service we issue a written maintenance report.
