San Marcos, TX, April 2, 2009 – The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce announced the
hiring of Robert Watts as the Chamber’s new Executive Vice President. Robert, formerly the Executive
Director of the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitor Bureau, started his first day
with the San Marcos Chamber yesterday.
“We are thrilled to have Robert join our team,” said Phyllis Snodgrass, Chamber President.
“Robert’s Chamber experience will be a huge asset to our Organization.”
Originally from Temple, TX, Robert earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in
Public Administration from Baylor University. Robert has held positions with the City of Waco, Texas at
the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum and the City of Temple, Texas in its Parks & Leisure
Services Department. Robert has completed the Fundamentals of Chamber Management Course which
is conducted by the University of Oklahoma Center for Business and Economic Development. He enjoys
fishing and clay shooting and is a member of the Texas Association of Sports Officials where he officiates
University Interscholastic League and Texas Association of Private and Parochial School varsity and subvarsity football. His wife Jessica is a Retirement Plan Consultant with Benefit Partners in Dallas, Texas.
“I am very excited to be with the Chamber and what looks like endless possibilities that San
Marcos has in terms of development” said Robert. “I look forward to working with Chamber members,
and potential members as well as the leaders who are devoting themselves and their resources for the
betterment of San Marcos so we can continue to advocate on behalf of area businesses.”
The Chamber will have an official welcome celebration in conjunction with their next Business
After-Hours Mixer on Thursday, April 16 at Horizon Bay Retirement Living, formerly Merrill Gardens, at
1720 Ranch Road 12, San Marcos, TX. The Mixer will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will open with a Ribbon
