in the heart of the Chiltern countryside.

I
n 2012 The Plough underwent major reconstruction
which added a large dining area and the superbly
appointed bed and breakfast facilities that it has today.
No expense was spared in the creation of each room. With
up-to-the minute styling and modern fixtures and fittings,
the intention was to create a truly sumptuous experience.
In order that guests could have their own area away
from the bar and restaurant, a self-contained breakfast
room was built, offering guests somewhere quiet and
undisturbed, to enjoy the most important meal of the
day and perhaps read the morning paper in peace.
We have a wide variety of guests visiting The Plough,
many stay one or two nights, some stay a week
or more.
They have just one thing in common,
they are all looking for a great value experience.
Other than breakfast, meals are served in the restaurant area,
and we strongly recommend that guests book a table in the
restaurant as soon as possible. The Plough has an enviable
reputation for producing really good quality ‘pub grub’ , so
we are inclined to become very busy, especially at weekends.
The restaurant caters for a wide range of diets , so if you
have any special requirments please mention this at the
time of booking and we will do what we can to help.
We endeavour to use the finest quality ingredients,
much of which is locally sourced, so we are always
very pleased when guests give us a little warning
if they require something out of the ordinary.
T
here are many places of interest that can be
readily discovered within reach of The Plough,
here we have picked out a few suggestions.
The River Thames and Grand Union Canal both pass through
Buckinghamshire and offer very contrasting experiences.
Along the Thames famous towns such as Henley-OnThames and Marlow are well worth a visit. While walkers can
experience the quiet towpaths along the canal, once built to link
our large towns, which hark back to slower less hectic times.
Buckinghamshire is the country home of British Prime
Ministers, with ‘Chequers’ just a short distance away from
The Plough. It is also home to many celebrities from film and
television, so you never really know who might walk into the pub.
Benjamin Disraeli lived near High Wycombe at
Hughenden Manor and the notorious ‘Hell Fire Club’
(The Knights of St Francis of Wycombe), was once conducted
from subterranean caves which lie beneath West Wycombe.
If you are staying in the area for a few days, you might
wish to take the train to London. The journey is only about
45 minutes, from either of our local stations. You can
spend a day shopping at Oxford Sreet, take in a show and
still come back to the countryside for a restful evening.
Whether you are seeking the solitude of the country,
wish to visit one or more of the many National
Trust properties, like Hughenden Manor, or plan to
travel the short distance to London from the local
railway station, there is something here for everyone.
