Technology. The full works.
The range of powertrain options for the Marco Polo is as diverse as your destinations. The basis is provided by three
suspension variants with comfortable, sporty or adaptive set-ups in the AGILITY CONTROL suspension system, which
combines agility and comfort in outstanding fashion. The standard-specification 6-speed manual transmission places the
appropriate gear at your disposal for every driving situation. The automatic transmission 7G-TRONIC PLUS features as
standard for the 140 kW variant and as an option for the other engine variants, relieving you of the task of gear selection
and changing gear smoothly. You are free to choose the vehicle’s suspension characteristic via the AGILITY SELECT
switch – sporty, comfortable or particularly efficient. And if you are happy to tackle difficult road conditions in search
of attractive scenery, the optional 4MATIC all-wheel drive1 will serve you well.

Marco Polo | Integral safety concept
24
Integral safety concept for the Marco Polo.
We are the first car manufacturer worldwide to have developed an integral safety concept. The concept is aimed at
avoiding accidents, ensuring ideal responses to dangers and mitigating the consequences of accidents. For the occupants
of a Mercedes and equally for all other road users.
Safe driving
In the event of danger
After an accident
Standard-fit ATTENTION ASSIST refers to numerous para
meters to identify typical signs of tiredness and warn the
driver accordingly. Another standard feature on board is
Crosswind Assist, which helps to prevent lateral drift in
strong crosswinds. The optional Lane Tracking package
comprises Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist. The
combination of both assistance systems provides a significantly higher level of driving safety and stress-relieving
comfort. The package helps the driver stay in lane and
change lanes on multi-lane highways. The optionally avail
able radar-based DISTRONIC PLUS1 adaptive cruise control
automatically maintains a safe distance from vehicles
ahead.
The optionally available preventive PRE-SAFE® system is
able to identify critical driving situations at an early juncture and initiate precautionary protection measures. The
measures include reversible tensioning of driver and front
passenger seat belts, the closing of any windows that may
be open, plus – in conjunction with electric seat adjustment – moving the front passenger seat into a more favourable position in the event of an accident.
The immediate initiation of suitable rescue measures
after an accident is crucial. The Marco Polo uses various
mechanisms, e.g. automatic engine switch-off and doorlock release, according to the type and severity of the accident, to mitigate the consequences of an accident and
facilitate prompt rescue.
In an accident
The extensive equipment with airbags and further restraint
systems can offer exemplary protection in an accident
in the Marco Polo. The standard scope includes airbags,
thorax/pelvis sidebags and windowbags for the driver
and front passenger.

is even able to connect you automatically to our customer service team
and to relay relevant vehicle and position data.
Marco Polo | Assistance systems
Safety all round.
Intelligent driving assistance systems are available which offer particularly valuable support on long journeys. Optional
radar-based DISTRONIC PLUS1 adaptive cruise control maintains the distance to the vehicle in front and takes the
strain off you, for example when driving on the motorway or in stop-and-go traffic. The optional Driving Assistance
package combines COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and the PRE-SAFE®
system. These assistance systems help you to maintain a minimum distance, to be alert to vehicles in the blind spot and
to avoid drifting unintentionally out of lane. In difficult situations they can help to avoid accidents and/or reduce their
severity.
OTHER ATTENTIVE HELPERS
Crosswind Assist (standard) helps prevent you from drifting out
of your lane in strong crosswinds.
ATTENTION ASSIST (standard) can use a variety of parameters
to detect typical signs of tiredness and alert the driver.
The airbags, thorax/pelvis sidebags and windowbags for the driver
and front passenger (standard) enhance passive safety.

Safety. Your trusty minders.
It’s good to have attentive helpers along on every trip. In the Marco Polo ACTIVITY, support is available
from a wide range of exemplary safety and assistance systems. The COLLISION PREVENTION
ASSIST1 proximity warning function helps to maintain a minimum distance from the vehicle ahead and
outputs a visual warning when the distance drops below this minimum limit. If there is the risk of a
collision, an audible warning is also emitted. Valuable support, especially on long journeys. A standard
feature on board is Crosswind Assist, which helps to prevent lateral drift in strong crosswinds. In
addition, comprehensive airbag protection is also fitted as standard: with airbags for driver and front
passenger, thorax/pelvis sidebags and windowbags in the front.
SAFETY ABOUNDS
ATTENTION ASSIST is able to detect the typical signs of fatigue based on
numerous parameters and warns the driver accordingly.
Seat belt reminder for driver and front passenger.
The PRE-SAFE® system provides preventive protection in critical driving
situations.
Lane Keeping Assist2 can help to avoid accidents caused by an unintentional
departure from your lane.
Blind Spot Assist3 can help to avoid accidents when changing lane.
Windowbags can protect against head injuries in the event of a side impact.

Comfort boosters.
The assistance systems for the Marco Polo ACTIVITY
make driving to and arriving at your destination equally
relaxing. The optionally available LED Intelligent Light
System adjusts road illumination automatically to the
driving conditions, enabling you to find your way even
on unfamiliar roads. Once at your destination, the optional
Parking package with Active Parking Assist helps you
to find a parking space and also to manoeuvre into and
out of it. The reversing camera which forms part of the
package shows you the area immediately behind the vehicle
on the audio system display. This makes manoeuvring
a significantly more relaxed affair.
Always ready to help
Adaptive Highbeam Assist1 controls the range of the headlamps
according to the traffic conditions and takes the strain off the driver
when driving in the dark.
Hill-Start Assist enhances comfort and safety when moving off
on uphill gradients.
Headlamp Assist automatically switches dipped beam on or off,
depending on the ambient light.

Enjoy the digital experience of Mercedes-Benz –
wherever you happen to be. Thanks to a range of offers
optimised for smartphones and tablet computers,
you can immerse yourself in the world of Mercedes-Benz
even while on the move.
The fascination of Mercedes-Benz. A car whose name
brings a gleam to the eyes of people all over the world,
one that has featured in many a movie and been sung about
in international hits, is surely far more than just a car.
How did it come to this?
Insights into the full product range, a varied programme
of entertainment and direct contact to a wide variety of
services await you. Take an interactive tour with the
Interactive Owner’s Manual, for example, to get to know
your dream car better. Experience the various functions
in detail, take a close-up look at what’s going on inside or

national Mercedes-Benz website.
Discover just what has been moving the world for more
than 125 years and take a fascinating journey through
time as well as through the history of the automobile, in the
Mercedes-Benz Museum. More than 1500 exhibits
over a display area of 16,500 square metres demonstrate
the unique heritage and innovative power of the inventor
of the automobile, among them one-off models such as the
oldest Mercedes still in existence, built in 1902, or the
legendary “Gullwing” cars. Welcome to a place of innovation:
www.mercedes-benz-classic.com/museum
With the “Mercedes-Benz Guides” app you can also
explore the highlights of the various vehicles off-line.
The app is available free of charge from the Apple® iTunes®
Store (iOS) or the Google Play Store (Android).

What would the history of Mercedes-Benz be like without
motorsport? What would motorsport be without
Mercedes-Benz? The first vehicle ever to win an auto
mobile race was powered by a Daimler engine. The
first Mercedes was a racing car. The Silver Arrows – a
true legend. Out of this glorious past has grown an
exciting present: the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula 1
team and the DTM Mercedes AMG C-Coupés fight it
out weekend after weekend for points and victory.
