“It’s great,” Motion told ANZ Bloodstock News. “It’s our first
trip down here and we are out here at the sales for the first time this
morning.
“We came to see the Animal Kingdom babies. It’s a very
impressive set-up here and it’s very exciting to see the first of the
Animal Kingdoms as it’s something we have been waiting for.
“Obviously the ones that have come here are some of the select
ones but I’m very impressed with them.
“Certainly the colt, who is Lot 382, very much reminds me of him.
He’s very scopey, very athletic and well put together. He and some of
the others are very nice individuals.
“Obviously I am biased but to me he had everything you would
look for in a stallion. A tremendous disposition, very laid back.
“It takes a special horse to win the Derby with 150,000 people in a
condensed area, it always to me seems to be the horses that handle
the atmosphere and that was very much him.
“Unlike some of the Kentucky Derby winners, he had an amazing
turn of foot and I think that is what will be exciting for me to see

“It’s a great sale and I think the breeders support it. The fact that
there are 740 in the main sale means there is a wide selection, which
is great for buyers.
“You don’t want a polarised sale where most of the buyers are on
a few of the horses but here there is a spread and it’s a good sale year

FIRST FOAL FOR ASIA
Lot 32 Dream Ahead - Asia filly
First Magic Millions yearling sale
draft now ready for inspection!
MAGIC MILLIONS
Perhaps one of the most intriguing and anticipated yearlings set
to be offered this week is the first foal out of the 2001 South Australian
Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m) winner Asia (Danehill), who is scheduled to go
through the ring this morning, catalogued as Lot 32.
A brown filly by Emirates Park Stud shuttler Dream Ahead (Diktat),
she is being offered by Berkeley Park Stud whose Neale Bruce
purchased Asia inexpensively, with the mare having failed to produce
a living foal after ten years at stud.
“I bought her for $500 and I was lucky enough to get this first foal
out of her as everyone had given up on her,” said Bruce.
A daughter of Danehill (Danzig) out of the fellow Group Onewinning mare English Wonder (Twig Moss), Asia was initially retired
to stud in 2003 when she was covered by former Coolmore shuttler
Giant’s Causeway (Storm Cat). She then failed to produce a live foal
until she was covered by Dream Ahead in October 2013.
“I did nothing different, it was just luck,” Bruce said. “She does
have a cervix that doesn’t close up, so we managed to get Joan
Carrick, who specialises in foetus development and using her she
would tell us what drugs to keep her on throughout the pregnancy;

“We then have an All Too Hard colt on the ground. He was born
three weeks ago and she was booked to Dissident but it was just too
late. I didn’t want to give her a year off but we got two from her so
that’s a bonus.
“She’s a lovely old mare. Funnily enough I prepped English
Wonder as a yearling, so it was good for her to come back around
and see something out of it.”
Selling on the first day of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling
Sale gets underway at 10am tomorrow morning, with the catalogue

Attracting the world to Australia.
For Magic Millions, Vancouver and Winx are among a list of
graduates who win some 6000 races around the world each season.
Last season the company sold 13 of Australia’s 37 individual

Galaxy and Lucky Hussler and Boban who have won Group 1 races
last season and this.
In all, Magic Millions graduates have won 49 Group 1 races and
have scored more than 500 stakes wins. Of the past 12 Golden
Slipper winners to be sold at auction, nine have gone through the
Magic Millions Gold Coast sale.

“It’s just great to see so many people make money and have fun

How have you gone about selecting the

“Obviously, the sale has a well-earned reputation as the place

“However, most of our recent stakes winners like Secret Agenda,

Who are the standouts in your 2016 draft
and what qualities do they have?
“We have a very strong draft again this year with many standouts.
Animal Kingdom has several nice horses in the draft but the one that

its continued growth?
“We want to keep out-performing the sale’s overall ratio of stakes
