Not too long ago, we celebrated another major
Malaysian festival, Eid Ul-Fitr or Hari Raya Aidilfitri, as
known by Muslims, to mark the end of the fasting
month. Just like every other festival in Malaysia, the
celebration marks endless feasting and rejoicing
among our multi-cultural friends. And just like the other
festivals like Chinese New Year, Deepavali and
Christmas, the celebration is made more joyful when
families gather for reunions. Open houses are a
common feature of the celebration where families and
friends are encouraged to visit each other as a form of
solidarity.
Here at Tree Top, as part of our cultural empathy, we
encourage our children to participate in all these joyous
celebrations. Understanding and celebrating these
unique
and
diverse
cultures
in
an
inclusive
environment form an important part of our approach of
beyond education.

Cheok Maan is a lawyer by profession and was
educated at the Cambridge Selwyn College in
UK. He turned to education by choice as he
believes that early intervention, inclusion and
strong parental support is critical for children with
learning differences. He is also the author of the
education series ‘Nurturing the Leaders of
Tomorrow’ which was published by Malay Mail.
His passionate commitment towards promoting
an individualised educational system has been
well received within parental support groups and
those who want to see a more inclusive
educational system implemented in Malaysia.

World Play Day @ TTH
~ A Trip to Jump Street Trampoline Park & a
Picnic in the Playground
In conjunction with the World Play Day, which fell on 25 May 2015, the
children at TTH were treated to a day out of the classroom for some
outdoor fun and games. Children aged 3 to 6 years old were taken to
Jump Street Trampoline Park, Asia’s largest trampoline park, while the
younger ones in the Toddler class had a picnic in the playground in
TTH.
Jump Street Trampoline Park, located in a warehouse in Petaling
Jaya, is a trampoline park for ages 3 and up. The park is divided into
several sections, among them being the main court of interconnected
trampolines, dodge ball and basketball courts, a foam pit and a kid’s
court. Upon arrival, the children were given grip socks to be used
when jumping, a short briefing and a warm up aerobics session with
the instructors known as Jump Refs. The children were then divided
into groups and headed off to the different sections to jump to their
hearts’ content.
Meanwhile, back in TTH, the toddlers were having a fun outdoorsy day
in the playground, with their friends and teachers. The children were
treated to finger food and fun games with soap bubbles, ride on toys
and the playground equipment. All in all, the children had a wonderful
day, out and about.

TTH Sports Carnival 2015
On 3 July 2015, TTH held our annual Celebration Day, to celebrate what the children have learnt in the first six
months of the year. The event was held at the Titiwangsa Stadium, from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
This year, we decided to host a Sports Carnival instead of a concert to showcase the children’s physical abilities
and foster the spirit of good sportsmanship among them, in line with the term’s culture topic of ‘The Human
Body’. Each class had their own game or obstacle course tailored according to the children’s age and
capabilities. As the carnival was also held to foster the spirit of friendly competition, every child received a medal
at the end of their activity. The children gave their full participation and tried their very best to complete the
games, filling the stadium with their cheers and gleeful laughter. All in all, it was a fun and exciting day for our
little ones and the parents, which was apparent in the all-around smiles and laughter.

TTH Hari Raya Open House 2015
In conjunction with the Eid celebration, TTH continued to celebrate the
many festivals of Malaysia by hosting a Hari Raya Open house for our
children and parents to experience authentic Malay dishes and
participate in traditional games.
The open house, held on 5 August 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m., featured
authentic Malay foods such as lontong, sate, lemang, ketupat daun and
ketupat palas, serunding, dodol and a variety of Raya cookies. There
were also traditional games for the children to play, namely congkak,
batu seremban, tarik upih and boling kelapa. A photo booth was set up
for parents and children to take pictures in traditional Malay costumes,
with a traditional Malay house in the background. The crowd started to
trickle in by 6 p.m., and by 7 p.m., the event was in full swing. Our food
booths were busy with parents and children sampling a taste of the
delicacies, as were the games stations, with children excitedly trying the
games. The photo booth was also a hit, with a long queue forming as
the evening progressed.
The event was a rousing success, and we hope to have more
celebrations in future.

TTH Summer Holiday Programme – The Amazing Land of Stories
To start off the Term 2 break, TTH organised a Summer Holiday Programme for the children with the theme ‘The
Amazing Land of Stories’. The programme, opened to all our children aged 18 months and above, and also to
their siblings and friends, was tailored according to popular children’s stories. Among the stories showcased were
The Gruffalo, The Rainbow Fish, Pinocchio and The Musicians of Breman.
All of the activities for the children were based on the theme, from arts and crafts, to cooking to the treasure hunt.
The activities included pancake making, bag printing and book making, among others. The children aged 3 years
and above were also taken out for a field trip to the Butterfly Park, where they were shown the vast types of
butterflies and had the chance to take a walk among them. The park also had a fish pond, where the children
were given the opportunity to feed the fish, which they did so quite happily.
Our next Holiday Programme will be held in December, and we hope to see you there!
