IDEAL developed the SureTest® Installation Tester to provide
electricians with all the features they need for testing domestic,
commercial and industrial fixed wiring installations. A few seconds
is all it takes to make accurate loop impedance measurements that
won’t trip RCD’s. At the same time it calculates and displays both Prospective Short
Circuit Current (PSCC) and Prospective Earth Fault Current (PEFC); providing
quick and error free reporting. The uncluttered front panel and simple menu structure provide a really intuitive way
to navigate around the tester and features like Auto-RCD help save time on the
job. A separate Ramp Test allows users to quickly identify RCDs that are prone to
nuisance tripping.
When testing continuity, a clever null feature “zeros out” test lead resistance helping
to reduce measurement errors, whilst a wide range of applications are supported
with insulation test voltages of 250, 500 and 1000V. A remote test probe is also on
hand to make life easier when working in awkward locations.

No installation tester would be complete without three phase indication. A mode now
required for 17th edition compliance and also useful to check correct motor rotation. All these features are packed into a tester that is built to withstand the rigours of field
use. Yet SureTest® manages to weigh 50% less than most other testers on the market
(<675g) - a real bonus when you’re testing all day. Very low power consumption
means it’s frugal on batteries too which helps reduce lifetime support costs further.
Innovation with a Purpose
SureTest® Installation Tester
Everything you need is in the kit...
SureTest® is supplied with a complete set of high quality,
detachable test leads that are easily replaced should they get
damaged or lost. The kit also includes a switched remote test
probe, crocodile clips, and a padded carrying case that’s big
enough to store the tester and all accessories safely.
A traceable calibration certificate is also included as standard.

Auto-RCD mode saves trips back and forth
to the distribution board. Once the Test
button is pressed, resetting of the RCD is
all that’s required. When complete all test
data is available to scroll through on screen
Irrespective of whether the high current or
non-tripping loop range is selected, fast
and accurate results are guaranteed. At the
same time the PEFC/PSCC value is calculated and displayed.
A ramp test helps identify RCDs that are
prone to nuisance tripping. The tester
ramps up the applied current until the
RCD trips and then displays the reading
on screen.
The accurate continuity measurement is
what you need when you are making R1 +
R2 measurements. The test lead “NULL”
feature allows you to reliably zero out test lead
resistance and you can also turn the continuity
beeper on and off during this mode.
