Welcome to the Family of God
Please look for these new “babies in Christ,” meet them,
welcome them to Calvary Gospel Church, and pray for them daily.
Ministry at the United Nations
in New York City
By David K. Bernard
General Superintendent UPCI
God has given the United Pentecostal Church International an open
door at the United Nations headquarters in New York City through
Pastor Art Wilson. Brother Wilson is
pastor of International Pentecostal
Church in metro Detroit, Michigan,
and has served for several years as
secretary of the UPCI's Building the
Bridge Ministries. For over a year,
he has been holding weekly services
at the United Nations. He has ministered on the 27th floor, in the UN
conference hall, and across the
street in the UN chapel. To date, 11
people have been baptized in the
name of Jesus Christ, and 13 have
received the Holy Ghost.
Typically, people from about 40
nationalities are in attendance at
each service. Many participants represent their respective countries
and cultures at the highest level.
Guest speakers at the UN services
have included UPCI ministers such
as Lee Stoneking, Royce
Andrus, Robert Henson, Carlton Coo
n, David Trammell, and
Vani Marshall. The UPCI Multicultural Ministries team recently held
an official board meeting in a reserved conference room there.
Please pray that God will continue
to give us favor in this unique setting for the furtherance of His kingdom around the world.

Voces Unidas Celebrates
Resurrection Day with
African International Ministry
By Ruben Ernesto
Easter 2015 was a
blessed Sunday indeed and the most
wonderful I have
ever experienced.
I’ve known of God since the age
of 8, but it wasn’t until I discovered
God a few years back in that special
Pentecostal way that I began to
realize the importance of Easter,
and my personal walk really began.
On this Sunday, the altar was
decorated in white and purple, and
it was a united service, African International Ministry (AIM) and
Voces Unidas En Cristo (VU) together, with just over 100 united
Christians in attendance. It wasn’t
quite the same crowd as the Badgers, but our music and purpose was
more divine.
The service opened with praise
and worship in Spanish, with some
new songs I had not heard before.
In the middle, we were blessed
with a song in sign language, and
we ended with some English songs
as interpreted by African International Ministry. My wife and I
loved the song “Hallelujah” and
hope we can find the same version
online. Thank you for that wonderful blessing, Lord!
A youth play followed in which
Deyra Martinez basically played
herself in politely educating her
school friend, a wonderful young
actor named Isaiah Gardner, about
God and what Easter is all about. It
included a video, and the two
young actors did a splendid job.
miracle, then what are we doing
with our ministry in the first place?
How do we call ourselves Christians if we’re not alive and in love
with Christ? These are all the same
feelings Pastor Seidl brought for
me in his sermon on Easter. Thank
you, Pastor Seidl.

Ladies’ Tea
C G C NE WS
The annual Ladies Tea at
Calvary Gospel Church, held
on May 9, had a some little
additions—namely, our young
daughters. It was a wonderful
time of fellowship in “Queen
Esther’s Journey from Sorrow into
Joy.”
Allison Brost and Nicole Solberg shared great insight into the
life of Queen Esther as orphan
and as queen. Have some lemons
in your life? We learned the art of
lemon squeezing to produce overflowing joy!
When your lemonade overflows, build a lemonade stand and
sell it to raise money for Mothers’
Memorial, give it away, or share a
cup with a friend or two.
The fun time wrapped up with
a “coronation” ceremony for the
young ladies and prayer for them.

I thank God I
was able to make
this Ladies’ Retreat. I felt stuck
in my prayer life,
praise, and worship. This retreat
helped me to regain my focus –
keeping my eyes on Jesus my redeemer. Change will come.
I was told that
the women’s retreat was a great
experience and
that, if I got the
chance, I should
go. This year was my first, and the
experience is hard to put into
words!
I would especially like to thank
Sis. Mangun and Sis. Sanders from
Hawaii. What a treat to hear these
two women speak against the power
of hell and how it will not prevail
against the power of the Almighty
God! God has given us every
weapon we need for pulling down
strongholds.
The worship and messages were
awesome. I was strengthened, revived, and restored, and the fire in
my heart has been rekindled! Praise
God! I’m walking in victory! My
faith has increased in Jesus’ name!
I walk by faith and not by sight. My
favorite scripture is Ephesians 6:1118:

The women I met were amazing
women to whom I could easily relate. It was such a great opportunity
to speak with other women who
have such strong faith, similar
goals, and the same daily life challenges as I have. When we all came
together to worship and praise, the
overwhelming feeling and the presence of God was amazing.
Each woman speaker provided
inspiration to all women, no matter
where in their lives they were. I
left this conference feeling charged
with faith, love, and strength to go
into each day as a new day and to
be the best person I can be—the
person God intends me to be.
I highly recommend this experience for all women.

Surprise Retirement Party for
Missionaries Alan
and Valerie Demos
On Saturday, May 16, CGC Assistant
Pastor Phil Demos, along with his
brother, Joel, and sister, Laura, pulled
off a surprise retirement party for their
parents, Alan and Valerie Demos.
Rev. Demos and his wife have recently
retired as missionaries to Greece and
Germany, where they have labored for
the Lord for over 41 years. Phil was
born and raised in Greece until he was
about ten years old.
Neither one of the Demoses had a
clue that their children were planning
this event. Sister Valerie was especially
overwhelmed when she saw about 75
familiar faces from all over the country
that had come to celebrate this milestone.
Renee Strand and her helpers prepared several Greek and German delicacies that were enjoyed by all. Joel invited guests to speak, and several
friends and family members shared
some of their special memories about
Bro. and Sis. Demos. Laura narrated a
slide show that she and her husband
had created with pictures spanning
their lifetime.
The following day, we were blessed
to have Bro. Alan Demos preach both
services for CGC. They returned to
their new residence in Florida, but we
expect to see them back visiting Wisconsin in the not too distant future.

CGC hosted a Children’s Crusade for District 3, sponsored by Save Our
Children of the UPCI’s Sunday School Division, on June 3. Many other
churches brought their children, and our outreach teams worked hard to
bring many area children also.
Child Evangelist Phillip Wagoner had the children’s attention with his
wacky costumes and sleight-of-hand tricks while teaching important scriptural principles. Eight children received the Holy Ghost at the altar call.
National Sunday School Director Rev. Steve Cannon and Wisconsin District Sunday School Director Rev. Geof
Albertson were also with us for the crusade.

Evangelism Ministry of the United
Pentecostal Church International

Born in the Democratic Repub-

came to Canada in 1991 as a political refugee. He attended the
National School of Aeronautical
Engineering in Saint Hubert to
complete his education. He met his

salvation in 1999 under the ministry of Pastor Paul Graham. Rev.

minister of the Gospel since 2005
with the UPCI.
Bro. Kahozi came to Madison,
invited by the congregation of Calvary Gospel Church (CGC) and its
daughter work, African International Ministry (AIM). He
preached first to the AIM congregation in an evening service and
then to CGC in both Sunday services. Traveling with Bro. Kahozi
were several students. The worship
featured African praise songs led
by some of those students and
some of AIM’s and CGC’s musicians, and the power of God fell! At
least six people received the Holy
Ghost and/or were baptized during
that weekend.
