Kia ora e nga matua
Nga mihi ki a koutou i roto i tenei wa, me ki, ko Te Wiki o Te Reo Maori. Ko te kaupapa o te wiki nei, me akina te reo - Give Te Reo Maori a go!
This week is always a special time for us and it’s important to acknowledge the wonderful work done by Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Maori, The Maori
Language Commission, in providing support and resources to celebrate this taonga. Visit their webpage at http://www.tetaurawhiri.govt.nz/. The
school is very fortunate to have Matua taking Te Reo for students in years 1 – 3 and we are looking to extend this next term. Kanui te mihi ki a koe
Matua, me te ataahua o to mahi kia whakamana ai i te Reo.
Student profiles are being posted home at the end of the week. These will give you an honest snapshot of where your child sits against the National
Standards for Reading, Writing, and Mathematics and are intended to inform regular discussions with your child’s teacher. However, it is important
to remember that our curriculum has a wider focus than just Literacy and Maths. Take a few moments to visit the curriculum online at http://
nzcurriculum.tki.org.nz/The-New-Zealand-Curriculum and I am sure you will agree with the sentiments expressed by the then Secretary of
Education, Karen Sewell, that this document is ‘a clear statement of what we deem important in education…[taking as]..its starting point a vision of
our young people as lifelong learners who are confident and creative, connected, and actively involved’, (page 5). If we are staying true this, we are
looking after your tamariki.
At the end of another busy term, our thanks go out to everybody who has been a part of the learning journey of the school. We appreciate it. Take
care and enjoy the holidays.
Kia pai a koutou hararei.
Naku noa

of US
Hi, I’m Yvonne Cullum – Office Manager – you’ve
probably all met me ‘out front’. I handle enrolments,
stationery / hat sales, finances etc for the school, and
administer basic first-aid to students during the
school day, as well as many other tasks. I have been
here for over 20 years now, so seeing children of exstudents I enrolled years ago arriving now. It’s a great
‘family’ environment which is why I have stayed all
these years! If you have a question, pop in and see
me or email me at [email protected]
I am Sharon Tait and I am the
Administration Teacher Aide.
I am the one the children
come to see if they are late to
school. I also take small maths
groups during the afternoon.
My email is
