PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our protection
against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him,
we humbly pray: and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the
power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl
about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

PASTOR’S MESSAGE
In the passage from Luke in today’s gospel,
we are following Jesus as He makes His way
to Jerusalem. Right now, it appears that the
journey has faded from our consciousness.
We are taken up with more of His words and comments.
We forget about the ultimate goal for Jesus – going to Jerusalem. The gospel tells us that it is Jesus’ intention to
visit the places He is sending His emissaries. We don’t
know if He did or not. We don’t know the names of those
places He is sending the disciples in pairs. But Jesus encourages them that their work would be successful. The
image of the “abundant harvest” gives us that awareness.
But Jesus also makes it clear as to how they are to proceed on their visits. He restricts what they are to bring and
He reminds them that the greeting of peace is to be first in
entering someone’s house. He also reminds them not be
gadabouts. In other words, they are not to be a person
who moves about restlessly or aimlessly, especially from
one social activity to another. Again, He reminds them not
to be picky. Whatever hospitality they offer, accept it. He
warns them that there will be some people who will not
welcome them. Don’t push it. Move on. Shake the dust
from your feet. And as the 72 return, they are ecstatic
about what has been accomplished. They come across as
excited about the power that they have exercised. But
Jesus warns them that the important element is not that
but it is their names are written in heaven. How do you
experience power in your life? Is it exercised to help another or is it for your own personal gain and recognition?
Do you rejoice that your names is to be written in heaven?
And are you accepting of the restrictions that sometimes
Jesus places on us?

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
ORACION POR LAS VOCACIONES
God of Love, You show your favor for us and grace us through
baptism. Bless us with the courage to carry out the mission of
Jesus. Grant us open and generous hearts to see the needs of
others and to respond with compassion. May the Church be blest
with women and men who are dedicated to You through
marriage, the single life, the diaconate, priesthood, and the
consecrated life. It is in Christ and through Christ that we offer
ourselves to You now and forever.

Mensaje semanal De La DIVINA MISERICORDIA
enfrentar cualquier batalla. En cualquier condición en que
se encuentre un alma, debe orar. Tiene que rezar el alma
pura y bella, porque de lo contrario perdería su belleza;

Raphael's Way is a gentle, effective program for men and
women who need peace and healing after abortion. Whether
the abortion was of a relative or friend, whether it was medical
or surgical or accompanied IVF, it was a significant
event. Abortion often causes deep wounds and relationship
issues that we try to keep out of mind. Deepest of all is the
profound truth of the relationships with God and with the children. Recovery from abortion requires specific and very special steps. Raphael's Way contains all the steps, and teaches
you how to continue them. Raphael's Way is offered as a 1day retreat in San Antonio and in New Braunfels on a monthly
basis in each location.
For information and retreat dates, call Project Rachel at

Reflection ~ Tranquility
"I hope she rots in Hell!" I screamed at God at the top of my
lungs as I drove to work. I had just gotten done listening to my
former spouse's rationale on how our divorce would actually be
"good for the kids." I was so angry and hurt over the pain and
distress I knew the divorce would shove into our innocent kids'
lives. They didn't deserve it, and I felt so helpless to stop it. Too
worked up to actually work, I decided to make a detour to my
parish church. It was the only place I could go for peace and quiet. Plus, I knew I would not have to talk to anyone there; I could
just be by myself for a while. When I arrived, Mass had just
started. I slipped into the back and sat there numbly participating.
As I walked up to receive communion, I hoped that no one would
notice the tears welling up in my eyes. I couldn't help it. The
divorce was shattering not only my life, but my kids' lives as
well. It was not fair! After receiving the Eucharist, I made it back
to my pew and knelt to pray. I didn't have any words. I just knelt
and cried. Slowly, a strange feeling of peace filled me. It felt
odd. It was such a contradiction to how I was feeling when I
walked in. I got a real sense that, despite the storm raging around
me, I was safe. It was comforting. I made this trip to Mass part of
my morning routine. I looked forward to it each day. It was my
port from the storm of divorce. Receiving the Eucharist gave me
a tranquility that I desperately needed. Christ became the source
of my strength at a time when I had none. Out of my desperation,
I was reminded of the greatest gift available to Catholics: Jesus
Christ fully present in the Eucharist. He is real. He is there. Receive him as often as possible.
Do not fear: I am with you; do not be anxious: I am your God. I
will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my
victorious right hand. - Isaiah 41:10

First Communion Requirements:
QUESTION OF THE WEEK
Each week we offer a question for
further reflection by our parishioners.
The encouragement is for everyone to
ponder that question or to dialogue in
your family prayer time, over the particular question. Begin with prayer and then have someone pose the question. Listen with respect to those who
respond and close with another short prayer, perhaps
the Lord’s Prayer.
This week’s question is:
What instructions that you received early in your
faith life that are still valid and useful today?
In order to celebrate First Communion at Holy Trinity

class during 2015-2016
⇒ They must be enrolled in a Faith Formation class

⇒ They must be registered for the First Eucharist

will be able to celebrate
First Communion in April 2017.

THANK YOU NOTES, LETTERS & EMAILS
Everyday Stewardship
1731: Freedom is the power, rooted in reason and will, to act or not to act, to do this or that, and so to perform deliberate actions on one's
own responsibility. By free will one shapes one's own life. Human freedom is a force for growth and maturity in truth and goodness; it attains its perfection when directed toward God, our beatitude.
1738: Freedom is exercised in relationships between human beings. Every human person, created in the image of God, has the natural right
to be recognized as a free and responsible being. All owe to each other this duty of respect. The right to the exercise of freedom, especially
in moral and religious matters, is an inalienable requirement of the dignity of the human person. This right must be recognized and protected by civil authority within the limits of the common good and public order (Catechism of the Catholic Church).
For those of us who are Americans, we must never take for granted the freedom we enjoy to worship and to believe as we desire. God has
given each human being the free will to shape one's life. There are many places in the world that seek to limit or destroy that free will. At
times, even our own country risks curtailing those freedoms because of political agenda or blindness to the truth.
Good stewardship demands we not only give thanks for that freedom, but we use it to grow in faith and maturity. How can we not fully live
out our faith in freedom when there are others in this world that have no way of expressing their beliefs? Once we grow in our faith and
become mature disciples, we need to recognize the need to fight for all of our human brothers and sisters that they may enjoy the same freedom that we do. We must not count the cost in this struggle, for the cost involved with doing nothing may be even greater.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you are one of hundreds of parachuting enthusiasts who bought our Easy Sky Diving book, please make
the following correction: on page 8, line 7, the words "state zip code" should have read "pull rip cord."
It was incorrectly reported last Friday that today is T-shirt Appreciation Day. In fact, it is actually Teacher Appreciation Day.
There was a mistake in an item sent in two weeks ago which stated that Ed Burnham entertained a party at crap shooting. It should have
been trap shooting.
From a California bar association's newsletter: Correction -- the following typo appeared in our last bulletin: "Lunch will be gin at 12:15
p.m." Please correct to read "12 noon."
We apologize to our readers who received, through an unfortunate computer error, the chest measurements of members of the Female
Wrestlers Association instead of the figures on the sales of soybeans to foreign countries.
In Frank Washburn's March column, Rebecca Varney was erroneously identified as a bookmaker. She is a typesetter.
There are two important corrections to the information in the update on our Deep Relaxation professional development program. First, the
program will include meditation, not medication. Second, it is experiential, not experimental.
Our article about Jewish burial customs contained an error: Mourners' clothing is rent -- that is, torn -- not rented.
In the City Beat section of Friday's paper, firefighter Dwight Brady was misidentified. His nickname in the department is "Dewey." Another firefighter is nicknamed "Weirdo." We apologize for our mistake.
Just to keep the record straight, it was the famous Whistler's Mother, not Hitler's, that was exhibited. There is nothing to be gained in trying
to explain how this error occurred.
Our newspaper carried the notice last week that Mr. Oscar Hoffnagle is a defective on the police force. This was a typographical error. Mr.
Hoffnagle is, of course, a detective on the police farce.
Yesterday we mistakenly reported that a talk was given by a bottle-scared hero. We apologize for the error. We obviously meant that the
talk was given by a battle-scarred hero.
In a recent edition, we referred to the chairman of Chrysler Corporation as Lee Iacoocoo. His real name is Lee Iacacca. The Gazette regrets the error.
Apology: I originally wrote, "Woodrow Wilson's wife grazed sheep on front lawn of the White House." I'm sorry that typesetting inadvertently left out the word "sheep."
In one edition of today's Food Section, an inaccurate number of jalapeno peppers was given for Jeanette Crowley's Southwestern chicken
salad recipe. The recipe should call for two, not 21, jalapeno peppers.
The marriage of Miss Freda VanAmburg and Willie Branton, which was announced in this paper a few weeks ago, was a mistake which we
wish to correct.
Received from Thomas Ellsworth.
Thank you for your generous support of our Holy Father's
charitable works through the Peter's Pence Collection. Our
contributions will be combined with those from our brothers
and sisters around the world to help Pope Francis provide essential relief to people in need. Your generosity is an act of
solidarity with the universal Church, answering the call to
become a witness of charity. May God bless you.

Feasibility Study Update –
Attend a town hall meeting or respond online!
Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller is working to address several
opportunities and needs facing our archdiocese. Over the next
several weeks, the archbishop is asking every parishioner to fill
out a feasibility study survey, which will gather YOUR feedback
regarding the proposed Archdiocesan-wide needs. Please go
online to www.archsa.org/campaignstudy to learn more and provide comments. The password is archsurvey. If it is more convenient, please consider attending one of these Town Hall meetings:
