Dean and Nic’s Residency Status
Congratulations to Dean and Nic for gaining
permanent residency in New Zealand, a
very exciting year for them both with their

Peewees Friendship Tournament – Newcastle, AUS
19 March saw a group of 17 of our midgets / peewees
head to Newcastle for the 2015 Friendship Games for 11
days. A total of 10 teams from the US, Japan, Canada,
Australia and NZ took part.
The team played well together led by Captain Emma
Klantzer-Kloss, and with a few injuries, kept their spirts
and passion up until the last game. The Haka was
performed with great pride led by Paddy Smith, and was
a talking point of the games. Many photos were taken
and friendships formed.
player, but is up to the host team to decide whether a player
can attend.
At this stage the details are basic, it will be held around 20
March through to the end of March 2017. children will be
billeted with families in the area.
A huge thank you to Annette Bone, Justin Lawson,
Lawrence and Jill Boul, and the parents who were able
to be the support crew.
The next games will be held in St Paul's, Minnesota in
2017.
If your child is interested in attending in 2017, now is the
time to start saving, Children born 2002 - 2004 are in
the eligible age group and they will be given the first
option, however it is possible that we will take children
born outside this range if we apply for dispensation,
dispensation is based around ability and level of the
2016 Youth Olympics Games—National Selection Trials
Earlier this year a group of talented players were selected to trial
for the Youth Olympic games being held in Lillehammer in 2016
run by the NZIHF.
The group—Mason Rees, Matheson Graham, Josh
Tenebaum, Millicent Smith, Phoebe Thompson, Emma
Kloss and Abbey Heale competed against others from
Auckland and Southern in a range of drills. The drills
consisted of fastest lap, shooting accuracy, skating
agility, fastest shot, passing precision and puck control.
Oliver Curtis (Auckland) and Maegen Blom (Southern)
overcame tough competition to win the right to represent
New Zealand at the IIHF Global Skill Challenge Summit to
be held in July 2015. The top 10 contestants from the
Global Skills challenge will compete in the Skills
Challenge at the Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer,
Norway, in 2016.
U16 NZMIHL
The Canterbury U16 Rep team starts it's 2015 season with a
home game against Southern at 4.30pm Saturday 27 June and
then a second game on Sunday 28 June at 11.30am. It would be
really great if we could get a bunch of Canterbury players and
families along to support the team. The team has been training
hard all year and is looking forward to finally getting to the
competition.
The team will travel to Dunedin for two games against Southern
on their ice the weekend of 4/5 July then up to Auckland the
following weekend.
Our second round of home games is to be held Saturday
25 July and Sunday 26 July (at the same times as above)
against Auckland.
Entry to the home games is a donation of a gold coin so
please come and cheer on the team.
Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Rink Etiquette









No one is to be on the ‘bench side’ whilst pucks are on the ice. This includes people passing around behind the
benches while a game is on.
Male players must use the upstairs changing rooms & female players must use the downstairs changing room
next to the rink pro shop.
All players must show respect for other peoples gear & ability to get changed so you must keep your bags
under the changing room benches or bring your gear bags down with you to place behind the player benches.
Touching or moving other peoples equipment will not be tolerated.
Only Goalies are allowed to get changed in the area at the bottom of the stairs.
Only Atoms/ LTP players are allowed to get changed on the bleachers as they will quite often require parent
help.
No players are to get changed or congregate in the area at the bottom of the stairs. This is a fire hazard and will
be policed by both the CMIH and the rink staff.
Also, no players are to get changed or congregate in the area by the lockers & in front of the fire exit doors. This
is once again a fire hazard and will be policed by both the CMIH and the rink staff.
Any form of spitting will not be tolerated by the CMIH or Alpine Ice.
Expectations with Protective Gear


It would be very helpful if all players in the Atoms & Peewees grade could have a name sticker on the players
helmet.
All players must wear a mouth guard for trainings & games.
All players up to the age of 18 must wear a neck guard.
All players up to the age of 18 must wear a full cage visor.
All gear must be done up properly especially helmet straps.
No one is allowed on the ice without a suitably fitting helmet. This includes all players, helpers & coaches.
If you have any questions or need clarity around some of the rink/ gear rules then please don’t hesitate to ask you
