For the month of March, Let Your Hair Down e-Newspaper recognizes Gould's Premier Salon
and Spa as the Salon of the Month.
Gould's has over ten salons located in the greater Memphis area, each with comfortable styling
and waiting area chairs, exciting lights, nature-colored walls and a modern vibe.
Their ten salons offer basic hair services ranging from hair sculpting to deep conditioners. They
also offer more complex services such as corrective color, to Keratin treatments and sew-ins. In
addition to hair services Gould's offers products, massages, facials, manicures and pedicures.

favorite for over 80 years
"I'm really picky about my hair, but I went to Gould's and she got my cut completely right," Lizzy
Sanders said after visiting Gould's for the first time. "Usually I always have to fix my bangs upon
returning from the salon, but this is the first time in years that I haven't had to fix them up!"
By Maya Smith
The salons have a combined total of more than 435 stylists dedicated to giving their clients the
style, color and texture they desire. One of those dedicated stylists is Eunice Boddie. She’s been
a stylist at Gould’s for over 60 years. “In my 62 years working here, I can honestly say I have
done everything in my power to make sure every customer was satisfied,” Boddie said. “I’ve had
nothing but wonderful clients.”
Gould’s salon was started in 1932 by Sam Gould with the goal of creating a small, upscale hair
salon with superior customer service and professionalism.” Phillip Gould, president and son of
founder Son of Sam Gould said he aims to meet that original goal every day. “We try to provide a
high-quality spa and salon to our customers,” Gould said. “We do that by creating a first class
environment and only employing highly-trained, well-experienced, exceptionally skilled stylists,
technicians etc.”
Gould’s has been recognized as a superior salon and spa by several publications, including the
Commercial Appeal, the Memphis Flyer, and At Home Tennessee magazine. Aside from
providing the community with quality salon and spa services, Gould’s is also known for giving
back to the community, in addition to encouraging its patrons to be as well.
Gould’s partners with the non-profit, Locks of Love, encouraging customers to donate their hair
to disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss. From the latest trends to
community service Gould’s Salon and Spa has been a local favorite for over 80 years.
For the month of March, Let Your Hair Down e-Newspaper recognizes Cornerstone
Barbershop as the Barbershop of the Month.
Open since 2009, Cornerstone is a small, community oriented barber shop located in
Olive Branch, MS.

The shop offers haircuts, hairline trimming, beard trimming, head designs, eye-brow
waxing and facials. Services range from $5 to $25. Owner, James Faulkner has
been a licensed barber for over 20 years. He opened u his shop 7 years ago with the
hope of providing a quality barber shop for his friends and family.
Today his clientele has expanded and ranges from young men to older male role
models. "We try to guarantee A+ work," said Faulkner. I want people to walk out
satisfied and feeling good. Cornerstone has a tight-knit staff, four barbers and a
stylist. Faulkner said, "Although my barbers are highly-skilled, I likes to come in
everyday to assist with cutting hair."
"I try to be more than just a barber for young men who come into the shop. I strive to
build relationships with my customers. I groom them on the outside, but also on the
inside as men," said Faulkner. To all customers that come in, Faulkner says he and
his staff try to be an inspiration and provide spiritual guidance.
“
The foundation of the barbershop is Christ, hence the name, Cornerstone because
Christ is the ultimate cornerstone, Faulkner said, "If Christ is not it in first, it will not
work."
Customer Franks Owens said he has been coming to Cornerstone for haircuts for
the past four years. He goes to cornerstone because he knows they will do a good
job, and he will leave feeling spiritually uplifted. "It has always been a good
experience whenever I come," Owens said, "They are always on time, I never have
to wait, and I leave feeling blessed and handsome."
Cornerstone is located at 8230 Camp Creek Rd Suite 109, Olive Branch. For more

me.”
“I want to serve and lead with accountability, compassion, ethics and integrity,” Walker said. “My goal is to work closely with the MSCBA board,
and set a good foundation via our by-laws and establishing necessary and relevant committees.”
When asked why Walker for President, Perry said “Pearl has a proven track record in this industry and is a great navigator, servant and
inspirational leader.”
And through all the accolades Walker remains down to earth.

the MSCBA will enrich my life, and the lives of others personally and professionally.”
