WELCOME
A very warm welcome to first timers and
old timers joining us at Westpoint 2015!
I have never felt so excited to be gathering “at such a time as
this” in our nation. I believe in God that you will be blessed and
encouraged as well as empowered by the Holy Spirit over these
next few days. Our overarching theme for this event is “God’s
glorious church” and we will be served by some amazing speakers
including, Dave Smith, Andrew Wilson and Sam Allberry. Do make
them feel at home with us and receive with a well-tended heart
the seed God wants to sow into your life for a future harvest. I
have been praying this time will significantly strengthen every
church and disciple as we unite in God’s global mission.
Guy has apostolic oversight of the Commission family of
churches which comprises over 50 churches in the UK,
along with 35 in India and a number in Spain and Portugal.
He also leads Citygate Church in Bournemouth.

Westpoint is a Commission event
Commission is an international family of churches led by Guy Miller
and his team. We work together to care for and plant churches,
raise leaders, reach the nations and work with the poor.
Westpoint is an opportunity to gather the churches in Commission
to worship God, be equipped, hear news and enjoy each other’s
company.
What is Commission? How do we work together? Visit the
Commission Zone in the Festival tent, and find out where you
can play your part. Meet some of the Commission team at the
Commission Zone on Saturday to find out more about what we do.

Bible Reading
Friday and Saturday will start with 45 minutes of
worship and a Bible reading from Mick Taylor, where
we will be considering the book of Ephesians.
Seminars
Each morning there will be a selection of seminars with
a variety of speakers. Topics range leadership to how
can I trust the Bible; from communion to cross cultural
mission.
Celebrations
Each day there will be a celebration as we gather
together for an extended time of worship, teaching
and ministry.
The Plaza
For those with children or who prefer a more relaxed
environment, the morning and evening meetings will
be streamed live to The Plaza.
Worship Extra
For those who prefer an extended time of sung
worship in the mornings, there will be opportunity for
this in the Plaza where we will worship God through
song and using a variety of art materials. Join us as
we express the worship of our hearts back to Him and
hear His voice prophetically for ourselves and others.
CHILDREN
At Westpoint, there is a great range of activities for the
children so that the whole family can be involved. Our aim

out about His creations through play, stories, arts and crafts, and
more.

We’ll be discovering the signs of the Kingdom of God through the
life of Elisha, building on all that God has done in previous years as
we encounter Him and learn to step out in His supernatural power.

We are so excited to be together again with the 4 year olds at

they learned to hear God’s voice, be healed by God and share
God’s love with others. Spike Hedgehog and Billy Bee will be there
too for craft, singing, story time, great toys, and of course our
famous ride-on track.
10
The Ark
Venue – AK | Times – Mornings
The Ark will be running a group for any children who have
difficulty accessing the mainstream kids or youth work, whether
that is a result of physical, care, emotional or behavioural needs, or
specific conditions. We have an experienced team so you can be
sure your children are in safe hands. If your child attends a special
needs school, or has specific support to access mainstream
school, then The Ark is here for you. If you feel that your child
would benefit from using The Ark facilities, please contact the Info
Point.

Powerful preaching and amazing worship
This year we are thrilled to have Glen and Emma
Scrivener, Chris Kilby, Duncan Lee and Dave Rogers
preaching in Commission Youth. Matt Giles, along with
his team including Joe Liddiard, will be leading us in
worship.
Workshops
“Welcome to Commission Youth at
Westpoint 2015! We’re so excited that you
are here for times of Spirit-filled worship,
life-changing preaching and God breaking
into the lives of many young people. Four
days of faith-filled encounter are in front of
you; come ready to take part in all that God
will do.
Last year was packed with breath-taking stories of God working
amongst us. This year we’re expecting the same. Make no mistake,
we are serious about seeking God, encountering Him and being
transformed so that we can serve him powerfully, wherever we
are. Last year, young people got stuck in by being obedient to
the prompting of the Holy Spirit, using the gifts He gave them to
build each other up – let’s go for it again! We want to return home
more full of the Holy Spirit and God’s truth than ever, so that
we can play our part in the mission we are on, as part of Jesus’
church.”
We will be running three workshop streams in the
mornings for you to dig deeper into God, faith and life.
Out of Hours
There’s plenty to do at Westpoint outside of the
meetings & workshops. We have ‘The Cabin’ & ‘The
Tent’ both stocked up with tuck & cans. You can hang
out in the ‘Games Tent’ where there will also be DJ
workshops, or you can enjoy the afternoons in ‘The
Cinema’ and in ‘The Cabin’, or the evenings with a
variety of activities.
We look forward to seeing you in the ‘Youth Zone’, up
by the woods on the hill.

Big Band
FESTIVAL
The Festival Zone is back this year at the centre of
the Westpoint action.
You won’t be able to miss the Plaza right at the heart of the campsite, housing
Christian exhibitors, Keith Jones bookshop, free face painting, live lounge and
bandstand music, and people from within our churches selling their creative
goods. Be sure to grab a coffee or snack from one of the mobile snack shacks
too. There is also an exciting after-hours programme until 22:30, including
a quiz, top band Fraser and the Cheers, and award winning comedian Andy
Kind.
The Festival Zone will also incorporate the marquees that host the morning
seminar streams, and in the afternoon there will be a mix of teaching seminars
and interactive activities for all ages. Or if you’re in a bouncy mood, there’s
always the inflatable zone…
Festival tents
Each afternoon, a number of activities and seminars will be on
offer, ranging from musical theatre workshops to gingerbread
decorating, Great British Bake Off style. See the programme
section for more details about what is on each day.
New to Westpoint this year, the Exeter University Big Band will be
playing in the bandstand just outside the Plaza. Formed in January
2012, the band is an exciting jazz ensemble playing everything
from Bublé to Beyoncé. So grab your lunch and enjoy a picnic
serenaded by the latest musical addition to Westpoint.
Cinema
Due to its popularity last year we are again having the Westpoint
Cinema. Located in the Main Arena, it will be showing a range of
films in the afternoons and evenings.
Please note: all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Sports
For those with a competitive side, football, volleyball and rounders
competitions will take place in the Sports Arena. If you would like
to take part, simply register your team at the Info Point by 10:00
of the appropriate day (Junior Football registration will close at
12:30) and make sure your whole team is at the sports arena by
13:45 (otherwise you will forfeit).
Football competitions will take place on Friday (11 and under & 12s
– 16s) and Saturday (17+). Teams should number 5 with 2 rolling
subs.
Please note, most of the afternoon activities are limited capacity
and require you to sign up in advance. You can do this from noon
on Friday at the Info Point. First come, first served…
Rounders and Volleyball competitions will take place on
Sunday. Rounders competitions will be teams of 10. Volleyball
competitions will be teams of 6. These competitions will be
running at the same time so please do not field players in both
teams as we cannot rearrange games to accommodate this.
Please also be aware that for all festival activities, children should
be accompanied by an adult and participation is taken at your own
risk.
As in previous years, there will also be basketball hoops by the
Main Arena for anyone to use, however there will be no organised
basketball competitions.
Inflatable Park
Open from 12:30 - 17:00 Friday & Saturday, and from 12:30 15:30 Sunday, the inflatable park contains activities to get you
bouncing, sliding and falling. Come along to join in the fun or park
yourself on a picnic bench to watch the mayhem.
Food & Drink
New for 2015!
This year we will have two short tennis courts outside the Main
Arena which will be available to use during the afternoons. If you
fancy a game you can sign up for an hour slot at the Info Point.
When it’s your turn to play, head to the Info Point to pick up your
rackets and balls and start serving up some aces. Please make sure
you return your rackets and balls when you have finished your
game.
Feeling peckish? You’ll find an assortment of food vendors in the
festival area.

ADULT SEMINARS
Keep Healthy, Keep Growing - Part 1 - Dave Smith
Dave will be looking at Acts to discover key Biblical principles on
the theme of a healthy and growing church. Drawing from Acts
1-2 and from his own experience in leading KingsGate Community
Church for the last 27 years, Dave will encourage individuals,
groups, ministries and local churches to Keep Healthy and Keep
Growing!
Social Enterprise - Kate Welch
Social Enterprise is a way of working that can transform a social
action project into a long term sustainable solution to poverty or
exclusion. This seminar is an opportunity to learn, share and shape
ideas on how to develop sustainable business models to address
social issues in the local community.
Just Looking - Part 1: Jesus – Myth, Monster, Man or God?
- Chris Kilby
Want to explore more about Christianity? The Just Looking track is
an opportunity to hear a short talk on a key aspect of the Christian
faith and then discuss the topic around tables. This first session
will consider who Jesus is or was, and explore some of His claims.
Honouring the Shepherd - Malcolm Kayes
Don’t muzzle your ox! Your Pastors and Elders have feelings
and needs too and it has always mattered to God that leaders
receive proper respect and care as they serve others. There is
an advantage gained by church communities when their leaders
enjoy their work come and explore this biblical truth. And what
does ‘double honour’ for Elders mean anyway?
The Gifts of the Spirit & the Presence of God - John Groves
The gifts of the Spirit are given to enrich, edify and equip the
church. They also play a leading role in our experience of the
presence of God. We will look at how prophetic revelation
strengthens, encourages and comforts the church and causes
unbelievers to say: “God is really among you!” We will consider
questions such as: What can we expect? How does this work?
How do we know it is God? What about the cringe factor? Have
we domesticated the Spirit and settled for ‘safe’ options?
Keep Healthy, Keep Growing - Part 2 - Dave Smith
Continuing on from his morning seminar, Dave will be looking at
Acts to discover key Biblical principles on the theme of a healthy
and growing church. Whatever your role in church life, come and
be encouraged to Keep Healthy and Keep Growing!
Compassion: ‘When God Shouts’ - Tim Robertson
Shouting is often seen as a negative, but in the Bible, God shouts!
When God feels passionate about something He shouts and
encourages us to catch His heart and speak up for those who have
no voice. Using media, God’s Word and personal testimony, you
will not want to miss this challenging and inspiring seminar. Come
and discover how God can use you to bring about change and
transformation in the lives of the poor.
Gospel Breakthrough Part 1 - Vinu Paul, Mike Shore & Chris Kilby
Trusting the Bible - Part 1: Why have confidence in the Bible?
- Adrian Birks
Christians believe that the Bible is much more than just a good
book but is actually ‘breathed-out’ by God. But what does this
mean and is our confidence in the text of the Bible justified or
misplaced? In this introductory session we will consider why the
Bible is so important; what we mean when we say that the Bible
is inspired by God, or that it is our final authority; and whether the
Bible contains errors or mistakes.
The Gospel is for everyone, every day and in every moment. The
gospel is not only the “news” that causes a person to cross the
line of faith, but also the “news” that needs to be steadily applied
to every single aspect of our lives. Whether you’re new to the faith
or have been a Christian for a long time, come and be challenged
and equipped as we consider how the gospel impacts all areas of
life.
Q&A with Kate Welch - Kate Welch
An opportunity to ask Kate about her involvement in Social
Enterprise, or any questions you might have as a budding
entrepreneur.

ADULT SEMINARS
Homosexuality and the Gospel - Do we have good news?
- Sam Allberry
Want to explore more about Christianity? The Just Looking track is
an opportunity to hear a short talk on a key aspect of the Christian
faith and then discuss the topic around tables. In this second
session we will look at the fundamental message of the Christian
faith.
Q&A with Sam Allberry - Sam Allberry
Christians are often heard to have a negative message about
homosexuality, but is there actually good news in what the Bible
has to say? We’ll be looking at Scripture to see how God’s word on
this sensitive issue is both clear and good.
An opportunity to ask Sam the questions which come to mind
following his morning seminar.
The Lord’s Supper & the Presence of God - Tim Blaber
Leading people through times of change is a key skill at every level
of church leadership. In this seminar we will look at ways to lead
through change well, including skills in communicating change
to people, and how to help those who may struggle to adapt to
change. Learn how to change your church without killing it… or
yourself.
“I think the moments we are nearest to heaven are those we spend
at the Lord’s Table”– CH Spurgeon. What is your expectation of
God’s presence when taking communion? Do you take it in faith
for an encounter with God, or is this aspect of Christian worship
clunky and awkward? Indeed, what is the nature of God’s presence
when the bread is broken and the wine poured out? We hope
to cast a vision for this Christ appointed sacrament; that we too
would know what Spurgeon knew.
Trusting the Bible - Part 2: Where does the Bible come from?
- Elspeth Darley
Is our copy of the Bible reliable when we have no ‘original’ texts?
In this session we will explore how your Bible has come to its
present form with practical examples of biblical translation. We
shall ask why some books were included in the Bible while others
were not and whether our current text can stand up to scrutiny
today.
Cross Cultural Church Planting/Business - Andrew Hepburn
How can we give the poor a hand up instead of constant
handouts? How can the poor and disadvantaged have a hope for
the future? These are questions which have churned over in the
minds of Andrew and his local team as they have been privileged
to do just that through fish, mushroom and chicken farming;
helping hundreds of rural poor and disadvantaged families in
South East Asia. Come and be inspired by Andrew’s story and take
back practical tips to your situation.
Where do I fit in? - Simon Walker
God is unfolding His great plan in human history. But where do
you fit in and how do you figure this out? This seminar will help
you connect with what God is doing today and how you find and
play your part in it. There will be some practical elements and a
chance for prayer and ministry.

Just Looking - Part 2: The Gospel - Good News for everyone?
- Chris Kilby
Leading the Sheep - Steve Petch
Tearfund - The Church Under Pressure in the Middle East
Despite immense uncertainty, and in the midst of conflict and
persecution, churches in the Middle East are determined to keep
serving the many thousands of people who have been displaced
by the Syria and Iraq crises. With encouraging and challenging
stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, Tearfund’s
Katie Harrison will outline crucial lessons churches in the Middle
East have learnt about continuing to see God’s glory in the most
desperate of times.
Gospel Breakthrough - Part 2 – Vinu Paul, Mike Shore & Chris Kilby
The Gospel is for everyone, every day and in every moment. The
gospel is not only the “news” that causes a person to cross the
line of faith, but also the “news” that needs to be steadily applied
to every single aspect of our lives. Whether you’re new to faith or
have been a Christian for a long time, come and be challenged
and equipped as we consider how the gospel impacts all areas of
life.
Being prepared not scared: Making church accessible and fun
for kids with additional needs – Rachel Menday and Kate Ellis.
It can be difficult to welcome children with additional needs into
church in a meaningful, engaging way that isn’t tokenistic. Hear
from the team leading The Ark, share stories of what you are doing
in your church, learn from the successes and failures of others, eat
cake, and pray for one another. What better way to learn about
this important area of church life?

Sunday 30th August
ADULT SEMINARS
The Church at War - Vinu Paul
In our journey of growing from a good church to an amazing
church we must learn to fight the good fight. The goal is to
become a warring church that reaps the harvest. The first step in
becoming a warring church is learning to defend ourselves with
shields of faith.
Dealing with Wolves - Malcolm Kayes
Be diligent and decisive as a shepherd. Learn how to stop dancing
with wolves and how to start dealing with them. Today, many
leaders are interested in apostolic teaching and ministry, but not so
motivated in following apostolic guidelines and practices regarding
church discipline. Come and be challenged and equipped to deal
with wolves in your context.
Preaching & the Presence of God - John Hosier
It’s very easy to think of preaching as a communication of biblical
information, but true preaching is much more than that and seeks
to bring people into an encounter with God, through the truth of
the Word of God. What are our expectations for preaching? How
can we best prepare for preaching? What should our expectations
be as both preacher and congregation?
Trusting the Bible - Part 3: How to interpret the Bible
– Adrian Birks & Elspeth Darley
Most Christians believe the Bible is God’s Word and yet interpret
different passages in different ways. This practical session will
explore how to get the most out of the Bible by asking the right
questions; how to interpret different styles of writing; how to find
the meaning in the text; and how to apply it today.
Living in a diverse global village: attempting to make sense of
world events and your Muslim neighbour - Simon Walker
The news seems to be full of turmoil in the Muslim-majority
nations. Within the UK there are growing numbers of our
neighbours who are Muslims. This seminar will help you
understand the way your Muslim neighbours think and live and
give you some tools to try and understand what is happening
internationally. It will also help you to begin to reach out to the
world on your doorstep.

What is Comission?
Commission is an international family of churches
led by Guy Miller and his team. Grown out of
Newfrontiers, we have churches in the UK, India,
Nepal, Portugal and Spain, as well as connections
with churches in other nations.
What do we do?
We work together to make disciples, reach the
nations and transform communities. To do this we
have four key areas that we are focussing on. Find out
more over the following pages…
44
45
STARTING CHURCHES
Start
We know that new churches
often grow faster and are more
effective in evangelism and we
want to continue to start lots
of new churches across the
nations.
Restart
Restart is all about helping
bring fresh life and vision to
an existing church through
partnering with more
traditional churches and
denominations or working
with a recently established
church.
Multiply
Multiply is all about helping
churches and their leaders
work through the practicalities
of reaching more people by
multiplying meetings, locations
or even styles of meeting.

ADVANCING THE GOSPEL
The Gospel is for everyone, every day and in every
moment. The Gospel is at the heart of all we do, and
we have a commission from Jesus to proclaim its good
news to all the nations.
“The gospel is not only the ‘news’ that causes a person
to cross the line of faith, but also the ‘news’ that needs
to be steadily applied to every single aspect of our lives”
-Justin Holcomb
Come along to the ‘Gospel Advance’ seminars on Friday
& Saturday 16:00 - 17.30 to find out more and to be
