Industrial chic is one of the hottest trends in design today and so it made
the perfect backdrop for our cover shoot with three of the women who
are at the forefront of Philippine design. We are privileged to be featuring
not one but three of the leading female designers in the industry in
this issue of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls Magazine – Jessica Kienle
in furniture, Girlie Benitez in jewelry and Amina Aranaz-Alunan for
bags.
It was delightful chatting with them during the shoot, where they shared
their design inspirations, style tips and holiday plans. We’ve got a lot to
look forward to from these ladies in the coming year. And dressed in
the rich reds of the season, their beauty and elegance definitely set the
stage for the spectrum of holiday attractions one can enjoy at Megaworld
Lifestyle Malls.

For 15 years, Amina Aranaz-Alanun has been one of the
champions of Philippine design. Her contributions to the industry
are legion – from elegant bag designs that have won her a loyal
following not only locally but abroad to co-founding one of the
country’s premier fashion and art schools, the School of Fashion and
the Arts (SOFA). She is also an ardent supporter of Rags2Riches, a
social enterprise that help artisans in poor communities to create
eco-ethical fashion and home accessories.
Aside from her work with SOFA, Amina is also busy with
the launch of her Spring-Summer collection, which she said seeks to
look at nature from a different perspective – mainly behind the lens
of a camera.
“My inspirations were these close-up images of nature,
