Sonja Botha (21) from Rustenburg Meat World’s winner
Rustenburg – On the morning of Saturday 2 April 2016,
Rustenburg’s Sonja Botha (21) became the fourth lucky contender to win a brand-new vehicle in the Meat World Win-aCar promotion.
All you had to do to was spend R100 or more at Meat World
Rustenburg, Magaliesview, and drop your receipt into the
competition box Magaliesview. The contest was extremely
successful with over 75 000 entries from community members
showing their support while buying their braaivleis and other
meat products at Meat World.
Of the 75000 entrants, 30 finalists were randomly selected ,
one at a time over the past four months, and our lucky winner,
Sonja’s name was already selected on the January 26.
The 30 finalists, friends’ families and Jakkie Louw fans filled
the tent from early Saturday morning and enjoyed great entertainment. As with every Meat World family fun day, there
were massive jumping castles for the kids to enjoy while the
audience clapped along to Jakkie Louw.
While the children were drawing, jumping or having their faces painted, the adults enjoyed a nice ice cold cold-drink and
feasted on a delicious boerewors roll. The entire community
was welcome at the family fun-day and as Lance Smith told
the Platinum Weekly; “This is simply our way to thank the community for their continued support!”
At the struck of twelve, Lance and Jakkie Louw drew twenty
names from a bucket at random, and from those twenty names,
ten names were again selected to join Lance on stage. Each of
the top ten finalists could choose a small blue box containing a
key. Lance jokingly offered to buy the keys for R5000 a key –
but every contestant was ádamant that they had the lucky key!
And only óne key could open the Ford Figo! One-by-one the
contestants made their way to the Figo and tried to unlock the
Sporty hatchback. After the third contestant tried and failed,
Lance mentioned an interesting piece of trivia; “During the
past three car give-away contests, the lucky winner had always been the tenth contestant…”
Upon hearing that, nó one wanted to be next to try! Finally
(after what felt like 5 minutes) Sonja Botha stepped up to the
Ford Figo, turned the key and the door opened! Cheer filled
the air as Sonja laughed and shrieked (and cried) with joy simultaneously. She had won a brand new Ford Figo valued at
R148 000 thanks to Meat World.
“This sort of thing has never happened to me,” an elated Sonja
told the Platinum Weekly while she tried to hold back the tears
of joy! Sonja is 21 years old and works at the local recruitment
offices of Info Personnel. Sonja thanked the guys from Meat
World for this great prize.
