TWENTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
DID YOU KNOW?
It is recommended to make sure your children’s school is a safe place
Every teacher, coach, and volunteer who works with children in the Archdiocese’s parishes and schools
must have a background check before he or she is permitted to work in any school or parish related job or
activity that involves contact with children. But what about the children who attend non-Catholic private
or public schools? Talk with school administrators and find out what steps they take to protect children
from harm. Suggest that they review other abuse prevention programs to ensure that their policies and
practices are up to date. And demand that all employees and volunteers who work in the school be properly screened, including background checks, before they are allowed to be near your children.

Learn Natural Family Planning
Discover a safe, healthy and effective way to plan your family. Encouraged by the Church, Natural Family
Planning is based on modern scientific research and can help married couples to avoid, postpone or achieve
pregnancy. It can be used by all women throughout their fertile years, regardless of cycle regularity. Among
couples who use NFP, many find that it brings a new dimension to their relationship, making an already good
marriage even better. A course will be offered at St. Charles Borromeo starting September 20, 2014. For
more information call (818) 994-2110 or to register for a class go to www.ccli.org.
