Home Care
Home care agencies provide care wherever a person
calls home: the home they own, an apartment, a
relative’s home, independent living, group home or
DVVLVWHG OLYLQJ +RPH &DUH 6HUYLFHV FDQ EH DUUDQJHG
for as little as a few hours a week to as much as 24-hour
care. Live-in caregivers are also an option.

These services can consist of physical therapy, speech
pathology, skilled nursing, occupational therapy, home

The purpose of Medicare-covered services is to teach
and train the patient and/or their caregiver(s) on
activities that will allow them to live independently in
their home. The activities focused on usually relate to:
living with a new diagnosis, assessing for home safety,
teaching exercises to improve strength due to illness

the home all the way through end-of-life care at home.
Services can include help with activities such as: preparing

supervision for memory care and companionship.
A home care provider is any entity that regularly
engages in the delivery of home care services for a

A home care provider must have a current license to
operate in the state.
Minnesota has two types of home care licenses. The
