Experience in the industry
Industrial construction holds an important position
in a wide range of services offered by Skanska.
For many years, we have successfully executed
production plants, logistics centers and warehouse
facilities all over the country. Our great contracting
capacity, years of experience and highly qualified staff
enable the execution of the most complex projects, also
at operating facilities without disrupting their operation.
Successful executions of construction works at
operating production plants make us an expert in this
field. If a client is not able to suspend the operations
of an extended plant, we do our best to ensure the
construction works do not disrupt the production
process of the plant. It requires high flexibility and
precise planning of the entire execution, from materials
delivery to the execution of all scopes of work.
The execution of modern logistics and warehouse
centers is an important part of industrial construction.
We can be proud of our great experience in this field
also. We constructed one of the largest furniture and
home appliances distribution warehouses in Central
and Eastern Europe - JYSK in Radomsko. We have also
built distribution centers for our key client, Lidl Polska,
distribution centers for Jeronimo Martins Polska and
the largest, in the history for UPS, handling center
for Central and Eastern Europe.
We execute construction investments for the
production needs of the largest global companies
in the automotive, pharmaceutical, furniture, food,
home appliances and metal industries. Investments
worth mentioning include, among others: Electrolux
dishwasher factories in Żarów, Siewierz and Świdnica,
Toyota factories in Jelcz Laskowice and Wałbrzych,
Bosch and Siemens factories in Łódź as well as
executions for Łabędy Steelworks in Gliwice,
“Balcerzak i Spółka” and Unilever Polska S.A.
During works on industry investments for our clients,
we employ not only Polish engineers, but also engineers
from our sister company - Skanska Czech Republic as a result of which, we gain more access to specialist
knowledge and equipment. The outcome has been
the establishment of a joint team having competence
related to concrete pavements used in the construction
of concrete surfaces in parking lots and warehouses
in logistics centers built, e.g. for Jeronimo Martins
Polska. Together we also executed an extension
and reconstruction of a container terminal within
the premises of the Northern Port in Gdańsk as well as
an extension of a container terminal for the largest
rail freight carrier in the country, PKP CARGO
in Poznań Franowo.

Lidl Distribution Center
in Bydgoszcz
Within a mere nine months, we constructed an immense Distribution
Center in Bydgoszcz, with a hall surface area of 45,000 sqm.
On the initiative of the investor (Lidl), the facility was awarded with
LEED certificate at gold level (LEED Gold) and it has numerous green
solutions to boast of. These include: the recovery of heat from the
cooling installation, connected to the floor heating system in the hall;
the application of natural agents - ammonia - in the cooling system;
LED light fittings with a DALI intelligent control system enabling
considerable savings in electricity consumption; a rainwater recovery
system for toilet flushing and the watering of plants.
Lidl Distribution Center in Bydgoszcz is our first
warehouse project to undergo the LEED
multi-criteria building assessment.
2015, Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship

Handling center and a branch
of UPS in Stryków
We were the contractor of the largest handling center in Central
and Eastern Europe in the history of UPS. During execution of the
investment, we used equipment with a 3D control system, working
with a spatial model. With the use of the equipment, we executed
earthworks and structure layers under the roadway, parking lots
and the hall. Within a mere six months, we executed the project
and constructed both the facility and its external infrastructure.
The works were conducted in the winter season. The center has been
equipped with state-of-the-art technology enabling the sorting of
15,000 packages an hour.

Extension of a warehouse
in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki
For La Lorraine Polska - manufacturer of bakery products we extended a plant by providing fully-automatized, high-storage
cold stores for deep-frozen products. It is one of the largest and most
modern facilities of this type in the country. The highest building within
the plant premises - the high cold store - reaches a height of almost
41 m. Its structure consists of self-supported racks with a capacity
of up to 16,000 palettes loaded and stored in a fully-automatized
manner. The racks are used to store frozen bakery products at
a temperature of -25°C. Within the framework of the investment,
a low-temperature cold store with docks, pasteurization and delivery
building were also constructed.
The investment has been executed at an operating
plant. Thanks to our experience, the production
process in the factory was not interrupted.

Did you know that...
During the execution of industrial, logistics and warehouse
facilities, we apply state-of-the-art construction technology by
using integrated BIM processes (a process of smart information
management during the facility lifetime). The application of this
technology increases the effectiveness of the use of resources
in an investment and it ensures more efficient preparation and
coordination of works during the execution of a contract.
We are the leader in the field of green construction, which has
been confirmed by LEED certificates (Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design - a system for certification of sustainable
buildings) awarded to, amongst others, offices that we construct.
The Lidl Distribution Center in Bydgoszcz executed by us is the first
warehouse project that was awarded a LEED certificate at gold level
(LEED Gold).
Our offer includes services in the scope of design, production
and the assembly of steel structures. We execute contracts for
the needs of large logistics and distribution centers, in addition to
smaller industrial plants. We hold the Certificate of Steel Structure
Manufacturer issued by the Polish Chamber of Steelworks.
We are experienced in executing projects at operating production
plants. We are flexible and precise both when it comes to planning
and the execution of a project. This means that the client can be
certain that works conducted by us will not interrupt the production
process at the plant.
We consider issues of health and safety at work as important
as keeping deadlines and budgets. We work in observance
of safety at work standards that are binding for all Skanska
constructions throughout the world. Human health and safety
is the top priority for us.
We have our own design office, which ensures the proper execution
of investment, including industrial facilities, in the Design & Build
(D&B) formula.
MPK bus depot in Głogów
Thanks to the project executed by us, Głogów gained a modern public
transport bus depot with professional workshop facilities. Under the
contract, we executed, amongst others: a bus depot hall used mainly
for vehicle servicing, equipped with five repair stations and a bus
ozone wash, a fuel station with a fuel system including a tank with
a capacity of 50 m3 and distributors as well as a dispatch building.
Furthermore, the depot station has been equipped with mechanic’s
kits and lifts for vehicles. The investment has increased the standard
of services rendered within the framework of public transport
in Głogów.

The depot has been equipped with wireless self-propelled
pole lifts, exhaust extractors and entry gateways
to the depot station to minimize heat loss.
Board Packaging Production Plant
in Bochnia
In the Bochnia Economic Activity Zone, we designed and executed
a modern Board Packaging Production Plant with a high degree
of cleanliness. It is another investment for the leading Polish producer
of corrugated board and packaging, apart from the plants in Krzycko
Wielkie, At the plant, we installed a 1.6 MW transformer - able to cover
electricity consumption of 260 households and installations - 6.5 km
of ventilation ducts and 25 km of installation pipes. The facility
was awarded with a BRC IOP certificate confirming the highest
production standards.
Construction of the roof consumed almost 600 tons
of steel manufactured and mounted by our Steel
Structure Manufacturing Plant.

educational campaign for children “Safety near
a construction site”.
Annually, we execute ca. 1,300 investments in Poland. In our projects, we employ people of various predispositions who complement
the skills of the whole team. For example, if the project manager is an engineer, his team includes people who contribute
