2 Teaching Description
Approach/position - pre contact phase -
Ballcontact - contact phase -
Follow through - post contact phase -

The setter has moved into the 4 position of the court to back set a ‘Pipe’ to the 6-position attacker.
The attacker has initiated movement with the left foot, which creates the initial ‘direction’ to the ball.

Weight is transferred from the left foot to the right foot, which brings the shoulder of the attacker to
the ball.

There is separation of the right and left foot on landing which causes forward drifting to occur.

The attacker has some back bend but is fairly straight and the ball is in line with the right shoulder,
the right hip and the right leg.

Just as contact is about to be made the attacker has a very high
reach with the straight right arm, still drifting forward.

The ball is contacted on the hitting shoulder and the follow
through begins to occur coming from the mid line of the body.

After contact the body bends forward from the
hips as the attacker follows through after contact
and prepares to land.
 Landing on two feet, with bent knees, helps
to cushion the landing of the attacker. After
landing, the attacker prepares for the next action
depending if the ball is dug, blocked or scores.
