The Lady Bulldogs (8-1-1)

the road was a 2-2 tie with

Bulldogs win Bells track meet

“I am the vine, you are the branches.
If you truly abide in Me, and I in
you, you will bear much fruit; for
without Me you can do nothing,”
John 15:5.
When we first moved into our 96year-old home there was a pear tree
that was about 2 feet in diameter and
35 feet tall. It was so old and dead
looking that we almost cut it
down….until it bloomed and
produced the most pears we had ever
seen on one tree! The value of a
fruit tree is not measured by its age
or height but the amount and quality
of its fruit. The same is true for
Christians. The Bible often uses the
metaphor of fruit to describe what
our lives produce. Fruit can be
either good or bad as stated in
Matthew 7:8 and Luke 6:43. A
fruitful Christian will produce better
results: “The fruit of the righteous is
a tree of life,” Proverbs 11:30.
When you ask Jesus to be Lord of
your life, He came to live and make
a difference in you, through Him.

That’s you abiding in Him and
Him in you. The harvest of that
relationship is sure to be abundant.
Separated from Him, you can’t
produce a thing of value to the
Kingdom of God. Anyone who
separates from Jesus is like
deadwood, gathered up and thrown
on the bonfire. But if you make
yourselves at home with God’s
word and allow His words to
change you, you can be sure that
you will show yourself to be His
child and produce good fruit.
Fruit is a metaphor for God
showing who He is through the
changes in your actions as you
mature as His disciples. The
motives of your heart need to be
continually renewed and
transformed in to the heart of God.
Your thinking will be more Christ
like as your heart changes to want
what God wants. This can only be
done by abiding in God’s word.
Spend time reading, studying, and
prayerfully meditating on the
teachings of Jesus and allow your
heart to change…your actions will
follow. As you step out in faith
and believe the promises that
Christ has given and obey His
commands, you will begin to bear
much fruit in your life and
influence those that you spend time
with to bear much fruit in their
life.
“You did not choose Me, but I
chose you and appointed you to go
and bear fruit…fruit that will last,”

Of the 74,599 registered voters,
only 24,782 made the trip to the
polls to cast their right to gripe for
the next few years. Republican
voters totaled 21,064 to the
Democrats 3,718. Grayson
Country voter turnout was 33
percent.
1996. The position doesn't
officially start until January of
2017.
Jeff Whitmire, Commissioner of
Precinct 1 was re-elected over local
Howe man Scott Renfro by a total
of 2,251 to 1,689 (57.13 percent to
42.87 percent).
Whitmire was elected
Commissioner of this area back in
2013 and quickly had to remove
several employees due to
questionable county practices. He
overcame being short-handed by
investing that surplus of payroll
back to the county budget for roads
and bridges. His opponent, Renfro,
who has been a Howe ISD school
board member, threw his hat in the
ring last year to give a voice to the
rural land owners with the
upcoming growth headed to South
Grayson County.
Brown, who was originally elected
back in 2000 in a hot contested race
with Bob Jarvis which even drew
national attention. This race was
nothing like Brown's first race as

Cate had stated that she didn't have
the most were the races for Grayson major complaints with the District
County Commissioner, Precint 1,

Grayson County Sheriff and

Tom Watt won the three-man race
for Sheriff with 12,056 total votes

Bobbie Peterson Cate for the office
of Grayson County District
Attorney. Brown totalled 12,382
(65.03 percent) votes to Cates'
6,658 (34.97 percent).
Watt will replace retiring Sheriff
Gary who has been in that position
since his first election win back in
Not much changes for Brown and
Whitmire, but Watt has virtually
nine months to be fully job-ready.
His experience will shave that time.
Grayson County voted highly for
Ted Cruz with 41 percent with
Donald Trump second with 29

Keep Howe Beautiful preps town for spring
The Keep Howe Beautiful
organization picked up trash along
Collins Freeway Saturday in front
of Sonic in preparation for the soon
to be passerbys stopping to take
pictures in Howe's famous
bluebonnet patches along US
Highway 75.
As well as picking up trash, they
planted daffodils all around the
downtown area and have made a
flower garden in the free parking
area.
in the 1930s which landed Howe as
the "Prettiest Little Town in Texas"
and made news of it in the Readers
Digest and Life Magazine as well
as the Dallas Morning News.
Keep Howe Beautiful is keeping
Miss Roberts tradition of
beautifying Howe. They are led by
Executive Director Donn
Wormsbaker and President Curt
Beckemeyer.
Howe has a long history when it
comes to beautification projects.
One of the most famous people in
that area called Howe home. Miss
Mame Roberts traveled all over the
State of Texas giving speeches and
demonstrations on how to beautify

220 pound division with a total of

Someone this weekend thought it was a great idea to throw their old
mattresses on the grounds of the Howe Youth Baseball fields by the
dumpster. Anyone with information regarding the violaters are asked to
