The predominant climate is classified as “warm sub-humid,” with an average
annual temperature of 77˚ Fahrenheit.
The Riviera Nayarit currently offers approximately 15 thousand hotel
accommodations. There is an ample variety to choose from at different price
levels, including Categoría Especial and Gran Turismo properties (with four
AAA 4-Diamond and three AAA 3-Diamond resorts per the American
Automobile Association), an exclusive property rated by Relais & Chateaux
(the connoisseur of boutique hotels) plus charming seaside bungalows and
villas.
NATURE
The Riviera Nayarit is in a privileged location, with several protected areas to
its name including the Islas Marietas, a Protected Area categorized as a
National Park since 2005 and declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in
2008. These islands are located in the Banderas Bay (Pacific Ocean) about 5
miles southwest of Punta de Mita, Nayarit.
In 1980, Isla Isabel, located north of San Blas, was also declared a National
Park and Protected Natural Area, in response to its serving as home to an
astounding population of birds.
Whales, sea turtles, dolphins, giant mantas and all types of tropical fish live
and/or visit the waters of the Pacific, depending on the season. On dry land,
the region serves as habitat to a unique variety of endemic and migratory
birds, including seagulls, pelicans, frigate birds, eagles and falcons, as well as
crocodiles, turtles, jaguars, wild boars, white-tailed deer and raccoons, just to
mention a few of the many animals that live in the area.

AERIAL ACTIVITIES
Thanks to the steady breeze that blows in from the open Pacific
Ocean across Banderas Bay, Vallarta-Nayarit is the perfect setting
for our visitors to practice wind-driven sports such as sailing,
parachuting, paragliding, kitesurfing or windsurfing. Adrenaline
lovers can also try their hand at skydiving.
LAND ACTIVITIES
For nature lovers and extreme sports enthusiasts, Vallarta-Nayarit
offers the best land activities year round including zip-lining tours,
mountain biking, ATV tours, dune buggies, rappelling, bird
watching and nature treks.
AQUATIC ACTIVITIES
Here you can enjoy whale watching during the winter and sea turtle
release programs during the summer and fall; as well as year round
scuba diving, deep sea fishing, and dolphin and sea lion
encounters, among others.
GASTRONOMY
The rich sea life of Banderas Bay is impressive. These fresh
ingredients blend with our culture and traditions and are
transformed into a world-class gourmet cuisine you can savor at
the most sophisticated restaurants or the most casual beach
palapas.
MARINAS
The Riviera Nayarit has four excellent marinas, all of which are
equipped with cutting edge technology and are capable of
welcoming vessels from 26 to 400 feet in length. The Marina
Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz is the largest on the Mexican Pacific and
has played host to multiple nautical events on an international level.
The others include the Marina Nuevo Vallarta, the Marina Paradise
Village (certified as the cleanest in the country) and the Marina San
Blas.
GOLF
The Riviera Nayarit is the best golfing destination in Mexico, with
six world-class courses (El Nayar Vidanta, El Tigre Golf & Country
Club, Flamingos, Punta Mita Pacífico, Punta Mita Bahía and the
Litibú Golf Course) with another three on the drafting table; it has
also hosted myriad important tournaments both domestic and
international. The combination of the landscapes and natural
beauty, plus the masterful designs of big names such as Jack
Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Jim Lipe, Robert Von Hagge & Baril and
Percy Clifford are an inescapable draw for any top-notch player.
SPAS
Don’t miss the opportunity to indulge in a treatment at any of the
over 15 spas in the area. The techniques are wonderfully varied:
just imagine the sweet aroma of wood and citrus coaxing you into
the ultimate state of relaxation, helping you find the balance
between your body and mind as you receive a massage with a view
of the many gorgeous vistas offered by the Pacific.
PESCA
The regional diversity of fish has brought in fishermen from around
the world to try their luck in these Pacific waters. There are many
opportunities to break out the reel, whether you choose to do so
aboard a luxury yacht or a simple boat. The Riviera Nayarit has also
hosted the International Tuna and Marlin Tournament for three years
in a row.
There’s no doubt the Riviera Nayarit offers wonderful variety of
options—you’d fall short of time to experience them all and enjoy
them to the fullest. This is where many top international events
happen, including the Mexico Cup Regatta, the International Beach
Polo Cup, the 7th Annual Punta Mita Cocktail and Golf Tournament,
