Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The weekend of July 30/31 has been designated as a
“Diocesan Day of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood and Annual Burse Club Membership Sunday”.
That weekend Burse Club Directors will be available in
parishes and missions to invite new membership and
renew current members in the Burse Club.

Membership in the Burse Club involves no meetings. It
does, however, involve offering your prayers and financial support for our seminarians. Dues are only $1.00
monthly or $12.00 annually. This year the Burse Club
raised over $167,000.00 to support the education of our
seminarians. We are blessed to have thirteen seminarians studying for the diocese, with a number of others in
the discernment process. Praise be to God!

I am deeply grateful to the Burse Club Directors of our
Diocesan Council of Catholic Women in each of our
parishes and missions and to all Burse Club members
for their prayers and continued generosity. I assure you
of my prayers and ask that you please pray daily that
more young men will hear the Lord’s call to serve our
diocese as priests.

I’m going to begin this year’s RCIA sessions early, in a month
or two - soooooo...if you are interested in participating in these
“classes” call Pat in the parish office. We’ll have an interview
and then...off we go. RCIA is the process of becoming
Catholic...it’s for those who are interested in joining the
Catholic Faith, those who want to know more, those who have
been away from practicing, those just seeking a faith-home.
Pray for discernment—now may be your time. Just call us.

Why I serve in the music ministry? I serve in the Music Ministry because of the love I have for my
instrument and the love I have for God. Being able to continue to play and being able to worship God all
at once is great!

This week is certainly one we have been looking forward to for the last two months. It’s Vacation Bible
School week. There an announcement on the Family and Youth page with details which you will need.
Hopefully you will engage your family and your children into spending the evenings of this week here at
Nativity. We’re looking forward to having you with us.
+
Next week I hope you can set aside some time for the Sacrament of Confession. While we are quite busy
on Saturdays, I realize that this is not always a good time for many people soooooo …. look in next week’s
bulletin (on this page and elsewhere) for some added and odd times for you to receive the Sacrament of
Penance. Don’t keep putting this off.
+
This is the final week for your college bound student to apply for a scholarship from our parish centered
Knights of Columbus. Requirements are on our website. We certainly thank our brother Knights of
Columbus for this opportunity for our young adults.
+
One more announcement regarding our formation of this year’s RCIA program. If you or someone you
know may be interested please call the Parish Office and let us know.
+
I thought you might enjoy these two pictures of two of our younger parishioners and how much the love
fishing. Sheridan and Aiden Baker, two of our newest altar servers as well, we’re very proud of their catch.
What do you think? (the fish were returned to the waters of the Gulf).
