1. Place pattern on the fold of fabric and cut two mittens. Make sure the stretch of the fabric
goes across the width of the mitten. See pdf file for actual size pattern.
2. Open up mitten with flat side at the top.
3. Cut ribbing 2 ½ inch wide ribbing. You need a piece about as long as the top of the
mitten but you don't have to cut it to size before you sew it on.
4. Fold ribbing in half lengthwise and match open end to the top of the mitten. Make sure
you hold on to the threads when you start sewing as knit fabric will bunch up as you sew.
After sewing a stitch or two, I like to reverse for a stitch or two to help secure the top of the
mitten. As you sew, stretch out the ribbing a little so that the mitten will have a snug fit when
finished. Lightly press ribbing upward away from the body of the mitten.
5. Fold mitten in half with right sides together matching up the top of the ribbing and the
edges of the mitten. Pin if needed to keep fabric from slipping as you sew. Using 1/4” seam
allowance, sew around the mitten starting at the ribbing and continuing up to the ribbing on
the folded side. Trim off excess ribbing and edges of the mitten as needed.
6. This is how mitten should look after it is sewn and trimmed.
7. Turn mitten right side out. Repeat for second mitten.
