June 13—17: “Deep Sea Discovery” VBS Week
Dear Families,
to all who voted in the recent Best of Bluffton contest.
Happily Cross Preschool won for the 7th time.
The teachers are busy putting the final touches on their summer plans. We make some changes during
June and July and implement more camp like themes. We do include a daily academic component to
maintain the skill level they have developed this year.
Although we do not hold formal chapels during the summer months we do have a summer Bible
program led by Ms. Elisabeth. As a year-end treat for the children Ms. Elisabeth has planned a special
movie day for their last regular chapel on May 24th. Elisabeth has provided a wonderful year of faith
and fun for the children. She has the special gift of relating to even the youngest of our students and is
instrumental in helping to lay a strong Christian foundation for our little ones. This year’s Vacation
Bible School sponsored by The Church of the Cross is the week of June 13th through the 17th and all of
the children enrolled in Cross Preschool and Summer Camp will participate. As the date draws closer
you will receive more information.
Last week we honored our staff for their loyalty and dedication to our school and your children. Special
meals were planned and so many of you went an extra mile to show your child’s teacher how much they
mean to you. We are so fortunate to have these wonderful ladies guiding and teaching our children.
Thank you for helping us honor them.
As much as we love summer we are always sad to say goodbye
to families moving on in the fall. This has been another fantastic year and we look forward to the next one.
We are grateful to each of our families for their loyalty and
support of our school. May God bless all of you and we send
wishes for a safe and happy summer.
Continued blessings,
“Little Life Lessons”
Cross Schools’
Summer Bible Program
June & July 2016
We are excited to announce this summer’s Bible Program for all enrolled Cross
Preschool and Camp students. Beginning in June, students will participate in
The Church of the Cross’ morning Vacation Bible School, which will bring
together Cross kids AND kids from the community.
Following VBS, there will be a series of weekly “Movie Mornings” where
students will come together in the Gym on Tuesday to watch a Veggie Tales
story about a important life lesson and Biblical value.
There are NO chapels over the summer … our regular Chapel and Bible Time
Program will begin again in September 2016.
Don’t miss these special days beginning at
9:00am in the Gym!

Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that we have less than 2 weeks left of the 2015-16 school year! The Lord
continues to bless Cross Schools in many ways.
Our last Flagpole Friday is this week and is hosted by Ms.
White’s Kindergarten class. Please join us at the flagpole at 8:30
am.
Gregg and Lindy Russell will be here on Monday, May 23, at 8:30 am, to accept the gift cards for
Hilton Head Heroes. We collected over $1400 in gift cards. Thank you for your contributions! Gregg
will perform a few songs for the students and speak about the Hero House in Sea Pines. Please feel
free to join us.
Yearbooks are here! We will unveil the yearbook and have a signing ceremony on Tuesday, May
24, at 2:00 pm. If you have not purchased your child’s yearbook, it is not too late. Please call or
email Kristi Wheat today to purchase.
Our Eighth Grade Graduation Celebration will be on Thursday, May 26, at 10 am at the Church
of the Cross on Calhoun Street. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Our last day of school for the lower school is Friday, May 27. We are dismissed at 11:30 am right
after field day. Look for information coming home next week regarding field day.
Report cards will be placed in the parent portal on June 2nd to families whose fees have been paid
in full. We will not release report cards or records until your account has been satisfied. Thank you
for your help in this matter.
I hope each of you has a wonderful summer. Keep the children reading, writing, and practicing
math facts on a regular basis. Look for back to school information in mid-July. Class lists will be
released the week before school starts.
Have a safe and happy summer!
Blessings,
Students were thrilled to have award
winning author
visit our 1st through 5th grade classes on
Friday, May 13. She read to each class,
spent time answering questions, and
discussed both the writing
and the publishing process.
It was such an honor to have
her visit Cross Schools!
