Winpower was founded in 1925 and produced devices for generating electricity
using the wind to power them. Through the years Winpower has continually
diversified product lines and marketing channels. In World War II Winpower
produced thousands of 1.5 kW DC and 5 kW AC generators for the Corps of
Engineers. At the beginning of the Cold War, Winpower supplied thousands of 15
kW Civil Defense generators. Many are still going strong today providing backup
power for the government, municipalities, and standby for community wells & lift
stations. In the 1950s, Winpower introduced its most successful and enduring line,
the tractor-driven power take-off (PTO) generator. Farmers found that having reliable
backup for frequent power outages was a wise investment. Winpower is a thriving
generator manufacturer based in Minnesota. Our core lines are tractor-driven PTO
generators and standy power gensets marketed through dealers nationwide.
The primary users of our PTO line of generators are agricultural markets such as dairy,
swine, and poultry confinements. Today Winpower is finding another niche market—
the small acreage landowner with a 20–40 hp tractor who needs dependable backup
power in a compact PTO-driven generator.
Winpower offers 10–600 kW skid- or trailer-mounted generators powered by diesel,
propane, and natural gas engines. The end users for these units range from industrial
commercial buildings and agricultural confinement operations to remote prime power
applications. We are large enough to handle any size of order, yet small enough to
consider your individual requirements. Our excellent responsiveness to our customers
sets us apart from other manufacturers. We maintain a nonautomated phone system

Design & Quality
Winpower has been in the generator business since 1925. That makes us one of the oldest
generator manufacturers in the business. This experience has helped us design and build
some of the best generators in the market today. Our years of experience translate into
cost-effective designs and features found only on Winpower products. We look at all aspects
of our designs to ensure that we offer a balance of price, features, aesthetics, performance,
service and reliability. We use first class products such as GM, Iveco, Cummins, Deutz,
DuPont Newage, Asco, Zenith and Square-D in the manufacturing of our generators.
Each unit is tested to perform to specifications. All generators are reactive load bank tested
and will accept name plate rating in one step. Each unit receives a forty-one-point inspection
to ensure the unit is ready for our customers.

Power Take-Off Generators 10 kW–165 kW
PTO generators have offered a great low-cost alternative power solution to tractor
owners for over forty years. Winpower sets the standard for PTO generator systems.
Our time-proven designs offer durability and performance at a reasonable price.
Winpower PTO generators have logged millions of hours of operation while saving
millions of dollars of lost revenue due to power outages. With family farms being
replaced by large corporate operations we have adjusted our product offering to
include PTO generators up to 165 kW. Winpower also
offers a complete line of smaller compact tractor PTO
generators for the hobby farm enthusiasts. Today’s compact
tractor owners now have an economical source for remote
power and backup power for their homes.
Winpower Standard Series 27 kW–75 kW
Recently Winpower added our SS line of home and business generators. This
standard package offers minimal options and includes almost everything required for
a home or business. These units include noise reduction
enclosures, float battery chargers and block heaters as
standard equipment. You will find that our competitors will
charge extra for the installation of these options. With this
package you can expect minimal lead time. UL2200 is
available on the Standard Series.
Industrial and Commercial 10 kW–600 kW
Rooftops of apartments in downtown Chicago to aggregate applications in the dirty
dusty rock quarries—Winpower holds up to our motto “Built Stronger to Last Longer.”
Our industrial generator line is our most popular and flexible generator line. These
units can be configured to your specific requirements. Open POWR-PAK units can be
purchased for indoor application where the customer will finish routing the exhaust
and air flow. Our WEATHR-PAK enclosure protects your investment from the harsh
elements and vandals while providing some reduction in noise levels. SOUND-PAK is
our full feature enclosure with a sound-absorbing foam liner and baffles for minimal
noise emissions. We offer NFPA Level 1 packages for use on emergency power
systems where failure of the generator can result in loss of life. If you require an
option that is not listed, we have a skilled engineering staff
that is talented and loves the challenge of custom projects.

Welded Steel Base Construction
Our generator set is mounted on a durable welded steel base. The
base is designed to provide a solid means of bolting the entire genset
to its mounting pad, while ensuring engine generator alignment. The
base also includes rugged lifting points on all corners to ensure safe
lifting of the unit during installation. Each unit is fitted with an oil
drain extension that is terminated at the steel base. This provides a
simple clean way to service the engine oil.
Vibration Isolators
Each unit comes standard with engine generator-mounted
vibration isolators. This feature helps eliminate enclosure
stress and battery deterioration due to vibration stresses.
This feature also aids in reducing sound levels.
Safety
All units are labeled, placarded, bonded and tested to
Underwriters Laboratory specifications.
Custom Engineering
Winpower has a dedicated staff of trained engineers who are
ready to meet your custom power solution needs.
Testing
Each unit is 100% single-step load pickup tested on both
resistive and reactive load bank to ensure proper operation
under all electrical conditions. Each unit passes our forty-onepoint inspection prior to shipment.

DIESEL & GASEOUS

NFPA110 Level 1 Package
This package offers a higher state of readiness in accordance
with NFPA110.
This option includes a dual rate battery
maintenance charger with battery system
failure indication, sixteen-light remote
annunciator to be mounted in the building,
low coolant level indication, block heater
upgrade that maintains 100°–120°F and
enhanced genset controller prealarm settings.
Fuel Tanks
Diesel sets have an option for double-walled base fuel tanks in 3 standard sizes for each model. Tanks are designed with a
secondary fuel containment system with alarm. Fuel level indication is displayed electronically on genset controller. They are
constructed, tested and listed to UL142 specifications. Tanks also include a removable stub-up end plate for ease of
installation. Custom-sized tanks and day tanks with fuel transfer systems are available as well.
Control Panel
All units come standard with a microprocessor genset controller. The DGC-2020
by Baslor Electric monitors engine and generator parameters to ensure proper
operation. In the event of a system failure, this controller will protect the generator
and engine from damaging itself. The large lighted LCD
display gives the user a digital look into the operation of
the generator and allows for some adjustments to
prealarm settings. The genset control station allows for
multiple controller height settings, and includes emergency
stop slap switch, voltage adjust rheostat and DC fuse buss.
Battery Maintenance Float Charger
Each generator set comes standard with a battery charger. Twelve-volt
genset packages come with a Battery Tender. This
0.75 charger maintains a fully charged battery
without overcharging.
Twenty-four-volt systems
include standard 3.5 Amperes dual rate charger
with analog voltage meter. Options for 6 and 10
Amperes are available with dual meters and failure
indications. All chargers are float type and adjust
for temperature.
Electric Generator
Winpower uses Newage electrical generators in our
designs. Our generator systems are designed to be enginelimited, protecting the generator from excessive heating.
Generators are wound at 2/3 pitch with a skewed rotor
design to provide smooth and clean sine wave. Permanent
Magnet Excitation with 0.5% regulation is available and is
standard on units larger than 200 kW.
Diesel Engines
We have teamed up with world-renowned Fiat Powertrain Technology to supply Iveco Motors. Iveco
is a leader in the European truck market along with great presence in the marine industry. You may
be familiar with other Fiat brands powered by Iveco such as Case IH and New Holland or automobile
manufacturers such as Mazaratti and Ferrari. Fiat manufactures 2.5 million engines yearly. Iveco has
a complete service network across the U.S. and is EPA and CARB compliant.
Gaseous Engines
General Motors Vortex industrial engines power the Winpower Standard Series and gaseous fueled gensets up to 120 kW.
These engines from GM have been proven in the automobile industry and have earned the stamp of “Industrial.” We also
offer gasified diesel engines manufactured by Cummins on units up to 350 kW.

Lockable Service Doors
All enclosures come with lockable service doors that are
keyed alike. The latch is an over-center design which
preloads the doors in the closed position. This method of
latching prevents rattling of the service doors.
Maintenance
The Winpower design allows for easy access to all maintenance
items. Access doors swing away from each other to allow for
free movement to service points. The genset control is capable
of indication of service time intervals. Rubber door stops prevent
damage of enclosure while doors are open. SOUND-PAK
models have the convenience of the air deflector cleanout to
remove compacted debris not blown out during normal
operation. Service parts are nonproprietary and can be found
at local sources.

years to come. Each enclosure component is individually cleaned with a three-part
phosphate solution and then electrostatically painted and cured in an oven to a
resilient three-mil finish. This process ensures that no edge or seam will go
unprotected.
Galvannealed Steel
Enclosures are made from zinc-treated 14-gauge galvannealed steel. This
feature adds to the durability of our enclosures. In the event that an object
penetrates the DuPont paint system, galvannealed steel will contain any
corrosion and prevent it from spreading.
Wind Loading
One-piece structural corner post design will ensure housing integrity in
winds exceeding 100 mph.
Pitched Roof with Drip Edge
Pitched roof design eliminates water pooling on top of the housing
to prevent prolonged exposure to moisture and collection of dirt
and mildew. The roof drip edge helps prevent dust and dirt
streaking on the side housing and limits water exposure to door
locks and hinges located exterior to the housing.
Stainless Steel Hardware
External structural fasteners and hinges are constructed of 188 stainless steel and are installed with flange nuts to prevent
backing out.
Aesthetics
Enclosures are designed to be compact, functional, long-lasting and appealing. The Winpower
color Postal Gray is neutral and will look great following the installation. Our exclusive zig-zag
louvers are painted black to indicate air inlets and allow obstructions such as paper or plastic to be
seen easily.

We carry the entire line of ASCO transfer switches from 30–
3000 amps, including automatic and manual switch series 165,

ZENITH
The ZTX series of automatic transfer switches offers an alternative
switch. These switches include in-phase monitoring, adjustable
exerciser and exercise under load features. Not for use with
NFPA Level 1 applications.
WEATHR-PAK
A lower cost solution to protecting your genset investment.
Designed to protect and prevent deterioration due to exposure
to the elements. This option provides little sound attenuation.
Recommended uses are industrial and agricultural applications.
SOUND-PAK

ASCO SERIES 300-386

With a SERIES 300 Transfer Switch, you get a product backed by
ASCO Power Technologies, the industry leader responsible for virtually
every major technological advance in the Transfer Switch industry. The
ASCO SERIES 300 was designed for one purpose—to automatically
transfer critical loads in the event of a power outage. Each and every
standard component was designed by ASCO engineers for this
purpose. The rugged construction and proven performance of the
ASCO SERIES 300 assure the user of many years of complete reliability.
The SERIES 300 is even designed to handle the extraordinary demands
placed on the switch when starting or restarting stalled motors and
switching high inrush loads. ASCO’s SERIES 300 modular, compact
design makes it easy to install, inspect and maintain. All parts are
accessible from the front so switch contacts can be easily inspected.
ASCO 386 non-automatic transfer switches are generally used in
applications where operating personnel are available and the load is
not an emergency type requiring automatic transfer of power. The
power-switching mechanism and controller is the same hardware used
on the highly reliable ASCO SERIES 300 transfer switches. ASCO 386s
are furnished as standard with a momentary-type selector switch to
initiate transfer and retransfer. They can also be arranged for remote
control via ASCO’s communications products.
ASCO SERIES 7000
ASCO Power Transfer Switches are the standard of the industry. Highspeed transfer of loads between alternate sources of power, regardless
of ampacity size, is achieved by a reliable, field-proven solenoid
operating mechanism. When combined with a programmable
microprocessor controller with keypad and LCD display, they offer the
most advanced method of transferring all types of loads, such as motors,
electronic drives, UPSs and microprocessor-based systems. 7000
SERIES Power Transfer Switches are available open or enclosed, in
