ź Žudioska ulica (Jewish street) – The street in which the Synagogue is located is called Žudioska (Jewish) Street. A door
that once stood at the beginning of the street from Stradun formed the quarter reserved for Jews only. In 1546, a Jewish
ghetto was established here.
ź Sephardic Synagogue – This is the second oldest Synagogue and one of the most cherished sites of Sephardic culture in
the world. The synagogue was established in 1408 by the Jews who came to Dubrovnik from Spain and houses ceremonial
objects from the 16th – 18th centuries.

Your first destination is the ancient Mediterranean town of Cavtat. Like many Dalmatian towns, Cavtat began as a Greek
settlement, called Epidaurus, and later became a Roman colony. At the beginning of the 7th century, Avars and Slavs invaded Cavtat
and destroyed the town. Refugees from the town formed another settlement - Dubrovnik. Since those times, Cavtat has always
been inseparably bounded with the history of Dubrovnik. Your guide will take you for a stroll through this picturesque little town –
its cobbled streets with traditional red-roofed houses, narrow stairways and charming promenade along the shore. Your walk will
take you to the top of the hill, where you will discover the extraordinary Mausoleum of Račić Family, a work of Ivan Meštrović, the
most prominent Croatian sculptor. After the walk, you will continue your exploration of the countryside of Konavle. In the village
of Čilipi, the local family Novaković will welcome you at their humble estate that has a small ethno museum presenting Konavle
region history, a tavern with a wine cellar and a variety of agricultural structures. You will enjoy their hospitality in a unique

Then, in the village of Čilipi, you will be welcomed by a local family on their humble rural estate. Your hosts will take you

Europe. The walls protected the precious salt pans that contributed to Dubrovnik Republic's wealth. The history of the salt works
in Stone lasts for more than 4,000 years. It is the oldest salt mine in Europe, and among the working ones, also the oldest in the

Your first destination is the old town of Perast, a sleepy baroque place on the seashore. The strong merchant navy
tradition represents the best preserved baroque entity in the Adriatic. In the 17th and 18th centuries seafaring was growing and
captains built magnificent villas that even today capture you with their beauty. Perast also abounds in sacred monuments, such as
the Church Sveti Nikola and Our Lady of the rocks, built on the artificial island just opposite of Perast. Following your visit to
Perast, your guide and driver will take you to Kotor, home-town of the famous sailors and traders of Boka Bay. Your guide will take
you to the Cathedral of St. Trifun, a monument of Roman culture and one of the most recognizable symbols of the town. You will

Crossroads of Religion and Culture

before Herzegovina fell to the Ottomans, the settlement of Mostar had only 19 houses with a small suspension bridge that united
both banks. The men that guarded this bridge were called „mostari“ (the bridge keepers) and it is presumed that the town is named
after them.
Upon arrival, you will meet your local guide for a walking tour of the Old Town of Mostar. If there is any city in Europe
that effortlessly straddles east and west, it is Mostar. You will walk along the Old Bridge and to Mostar's cobbled Ottoman Quarter,
which houses the city's artists and craftsmen, as well as beautiful 16th century mosques, museums and cafes. This oriental part of
the city still preserves its old tradition of highly skilled craftsmen in metal engraving, painting and rug-weaving. During your tour,
you will visit the Koski Mehmed pasa Mosque from 1671 and the Turkish House – one of the most representative monuments of the
Ottoman residential architecture.
On your way back to Dubrovnik you may decide to stop at either Medjugorje or Pocitelj. Međugorje is one of the most
important catholic shrines in Europe. It was in this small village that six local teenagers claimed that the Holy Virgin appeared to
them in 1981. Since then, the village has become a significant pilgrimage site for pilgrims from all over the world. Alternatively, you
may visit Počitelj, a tiny mediaeval town reminiscent of the glorious Ottoman Empire. Today it is a charming mix of
Mediterranean and Turkish architecture, whose most important landmark is the Hadžić-Alijana Mosque. Later this afternoon,
your guide and driver will take you back to Dubrovnik.

Museum's Curator. Museum of Naïve Arts is located in the 18th century Raffay Palace in the Upper Town and it is considered the
first museum of naïve art in the world. The museum keeps works of 1500 works of art - paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints,
mainly by Croatian artists. Then you will continue by funicular or walk to the Lower Town, dominated by the impressive building of

wondrous Blue Cave, a unique whim of nature that will enchant you with its play of light and shadow. On Lopud Island you will
discover the beautiful sandy beach of Sunj, a hidden gem of Dubrovnik archipelago. Further away, on the island of Šipan you may
enjoy a walk in the small fisherman village of Sudjuradj. During the 15th and 16th centuries, many aristocratic Dubrovnik families
built their summer manors on Šipan. One of them is the Skočibuha Castle from the 16th century, once belonging to the rich noble

A Greek settlement of Melita (honey) got its “sweet” name after the bees that lived in the vast forests of the island when
the ancient Greeks first discovered it. Mljet is believed to be the island of Ogygia mentioned in the famous epic poem 'Odyssey' as
the paradise island where the Calypso nymph detained Odysseus for seven years. True or not, this legend celebrates the luxurious
beauty of Mljet which you will get a chance to discover.
Upon arrival to the port of Polače, you will first come across an ancient Roman palace, built probably in the 5st century,
which dominates the village. Then you will head out towards the area of national park of Mljet (self tour). The untouched nature
and the beauty of the Great and Small Lakes connected with the open sea by a narrow channel. In the heart of the Great Lake stands
the Isle of St Mary with the sleepy 12th century Benedictine Monastery that can easily be reached by a small boat. Do not miss the
walks along the lovely wooded paths by the lake, along the ancient pine forest.

Through the narrow cobblestone streets you will come to the Cathedral of St. Marko, an architectural masterpiece in
Gothic and Renaissance style. Its construction is an admirable testimony of the artistry of the local stone masons and the excellent
adamant stone of the island. The Cathedral's abbatial collection abounds with exhibits from Greek and Roman period, as well as
with peculiar artifacts of the recent history. You will visit also the Museum of Icons with the unique collection of Byzantine Icons
and ceremonial pieces. The exhibits are primarily collected by 17th and 18th century Korcula sailors on their journeys around the
world. Your stroll will finally take you to Marko Polo's childhood home – a modest mediaeval house from which originates this
great Venetian merchant, writer and traveler.
