La Resdencia is dedicated to the pioneers of the
Congregacion de las Religiosas de Nuestra Señora de la
Consolacion (formerly known as Congregacion de las
Religiosas Agustinas Terciarias de Filipinas) from
Barcelona, Spain . They arrived in the port of Manila on
April 6, 1883 in response to the invitation of Fr. Salvador Font , OSA to serve the needs of children orphaned
by the cholera epidemic in 1882
