THE PRODUCTS
Made from high-quality thermoplastic resin, Canplast PVC and ABS Edgebanding adds a smooth,
finished look to furniture. Canplast Edgebanding is used on cabinets, shelves, store fixtures, deskand countertops outperforming a host of other materials in edge protection. Canplast Edgebanding
is ideal for all types of institutional, office and residential furniture, store fixtures, millwork as well as
kitchen and bathroom cabinetry.

SOLIDS
Canplast solid color Edgebanding can be used in an unlimited range of applications. The computermatched color throughout the thickness allows the Edgebanding to blend in perfectly and makes the
joint between the Edgebanding and the board surface virtually invisible.

WOODGRAINS
Canplast library of more than 600 print cylinders allows exact matches to the most sophisticated
woodgrain surfaces including stained doors. The company’s experienced staff, computer-aided
matching processes and state-of-the-art printing allow for exact matches to different shades of maple,
walnut, oak, beech, birch and other wood species including different woodgrain embossing options.

GRAINTHRU™ WOODGRAINS
Canplast has developed a unique means of injecting a realistic woodgrain effect throughout the
thickness of the 3mm PVC woodgrain Edgebanding. A variety of different Grainthru™ woodgrains
are immediately available via the Canplast TopEdge™ stock program. The Grainthru™ effect
eliminates ‘picture framing’ sometimes associated with Thick PVC Edgebanding. The base color is
specifically blended to unify the Edgebanding with the panel pattern.

KLEARVU™ EDGEBANDING
Canplast KLEAR-VU™ Edgebanding provides the highest Edgebanding quality available in the
marketplace. KLEAR-VU™ Edgebanding is made from transparent acrylic and is printed from the
reverse providing a three dimensional ‘look’ and a solid protection against scratches.
The KLEAR-VU™ advantages:

Scratching and marring of the Edgebanding surface can be easily polished away. The color
remains protected.
•
The printing on the back of the Edgebanding remains intact even on the milled radius providing
a continuous transition from the Edgebanding to the board surface.
•
KLEAR-VU™ Edgebanding can be applied with standard Edgebander equipments. Glues
that contain solvents like some contact adhesives may not be used. Please refer to the
KLEAR-VU™ Processing Information. (Page 75)

KLEAR-VU™ is available from the Canplast TopEdge™ stock program and includes an attractive
color range of woodgrains, stainless steel and brushed aluminum patterns.

Canplast TopMelt™ premium, high-performance
Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) hotmelt Adhesives
are specially formulated for various types
of Edgebanding materials and edgebanders
used by makers of kitchen and bathroom
cabinets, residential and RTA furniture, office
furniture, store fixture and other woodworking
applications.
TopMelt™ advantages:

PROCESSING INFORMATION
PVC EDGEBANDING
Poly Vinyl Chloride is the most commonly known and widely
used polymer for Edgebanding worldwide. Canplast has gained
extensive knowledge and experience with this polymer over
the years.
MACHINE PROCESSING
Canplast PVC Edgebanding
can be applied by using any automatic edgebander. It is also
recommended for contour edgebanders and automatic
workcenters, (BAZ, BIMA, BIESSE Millenium). Cutting,
bonding, trimming and scraping, as well as the subsequent
application of buffing wheels are possible.
PROCESSING CONDITIONS Substrate, adhesive and
Edgebanding should be applied at room temperature. The
three components should be warmed up for 24 hours before
processing, if they are stored in a colder environment. Cold
panels or Edgebanding can result in a pre-mature adhesive setup. Evidence of premature set-up would be adhesive bonding
well to the substrate but not to the Edgebanding. The optimum
wood moisture content of the substrate should be between
7% and 10%. All panel edges should be cut square and clean.
RUNNING SPEED For all running speeds, a hotmelt adhesive
with an appropriate open time should be selected. Tests should
be performed to determine the best overall temperature
based on the line speed being run.
TYPES OF HOTMELT Commonly available hotmelt Adhesives
(EVA, PA, PUR) can be used with Canplast PVC Edgebanding.
To achieve a minimal glue line all Canplast Edgebandings
are produced with a slight concavity. We recommend the
high-quality TOPMELT ™ Adhesives.
HOTMELT APPLICATION The Adhesive should be applied
evenly and in such quantity that no beads are squeezed out
at the edges so that the hollow space between the particles
is properly filled. The quantity of glue applied depends on
the type and density of the particleboard: the lower the
particleboard density the higher the required amount of
hotmelt. During bonding, it is important to ensure that there
is always an adequate amount of Adhesive in the container,
so that only minimum temperature changes occur during
Adhesive application.

GLUE POT TEMPERATURE AND MAINTENANCE
Please note that the thermostats in the glue pot may be
inaccurate and can display values which deviate sometimes
substantially from the actual hot melt temperature. Canplast
recommends the glue pot temperature be turned down to
approximately 150°C if the edgebander is not going to be used
for an extended period of time. This temperature will keep
the adhesive molten, allow for a fast heat up, and also prevent
unnecessary adhesive breakdown and oxidation. It is also
recommended that if the molten adhesive sits in the pot for
an extended time, it should be stirred or agitated. Excessive
heat will cause the adhesive to break down, creating charring
and odors.
PRESSURE ROLLERS Ensure that the pressure roller set
and the individual rollers are aligned properly to achieve a
consistent pressure distribution onto the Edgebanding. Follow
the machine manufacturer recommendation regarding supply
air pressure.
GUILLOTINE CUTTING The guillotine cutting blades should
be sharp to ensure a clean cut.
END CUTTING
The Edgebanding overhang at the ends
should be minimal to simplify the subsequent end trimming.
The cutting blades should also be sharp to ensure a clean cut.
FLUSH OR RADIUS TRIMMING Multi-blade trimmers with
4 - 6 blades and rpm of 12,000 to 18,000 are recommended.
SCRAPING The scraper depth should be 0.10 to 0.15mm
to avoid excessive stress whitening. Scraper blades must be
sharp.
POLISHING Lastly, clean buffing wheels should be applied to
totally eliminate remaining stress whitening and achieve a clean
and polished edge finish.
CLEANING It is recommended that Canplast PVC
Edgebanding is cleaned with special citrus based cleaners.
Environmentally unfriendly substances such as acetones
and lacquer thinners containing high concentrations of
solvents or alcohol are not recommended and may damage
the product.

ABS EDGEBANDING
WHAT IS ABS? ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) is
an environmentally responsible, chlorine-free high-quality
polymer. It may be recycled or incinerated with general waste.
MACHINE PROCESSING Canplast ABS edgebanding can
be applied by using any automatic edgebander. It is also
recommended for contour edgebanders and automatic
workcenters (BAZ, BIMA, BIESSE Millennium). The set-up of
the edgebander for ABS Edgebanding is the same as for PVC
Edgebanding. Cutting, bonding, trimming and scraping, as well
as subsequent application of buffing wheels are possible.

KLEAR-VU™ EDGEBANDING

WHAT IS KLEAR-VU ? Canplast KLEAR-VU Edgebandings
are made of highly transparent acrylic. The special three
dimensional effect is achieved by applying the finish to the
back of the Edgebanding. It has a higher transparency than
glass and may be recycled or incinerated with general waste.

STRAIGHTLINE MACHINE PROCESSING Canplast
KLEAR-VU™ Edgebanding can be processed on any straightline
edgebander. Attention has to be paid to the Edgebanding
rollers that feed the Edgebanding to the substrate. These
rollers need to be rubber coated to avoid damage to the print.
CLEANING It is recommended that Canplast KLEAR-VU™
Edgebandings are cleaned with special citrus based cleaners.
and lacquer thinners containing high concentrations of
solvents or alcohol are not recommended and may damage
the product.
MANUAL PROCESSING Canplast KLEAR-VU™ Edgebanding
can also be applied manually. If the Edgebanding is applied
without assistance of machinery, the following adhesives are
recommended:
APPLICATION ON CONTOUR EDGEBANDER AND
AUTOMATIC WORKCENTER Canplast recommends
to apply KLEAR-VU™ Edgebanding on curved panels
manufactured on contour edgebanders or automatic workcenters with an outside radius of at least 200mm (8”) and an
inside radius of at least 100mm (4”).

THERMOFORMING THE RADII
(MANUAL PROCESSING)
Outside radii tighter than 200mm (8”) and inside radii 100mm
(4”) can be achieved by heating up KLEAR-VU™ Edgebanding
to 100° C to 120° C (212° F to 248° F). While still soft, the
Edgebanding is adapted to the substrate shape and held in
place. It is necessary to ensure that the material is not drawn.
The Edgebanding must be held in shape until it has cooled
down. The excess length of the Edgebanding can be trimmed
off with a handheld trimmer. If any smear effects occur, it is
necessary to adjust the rpm or the direction of the trimmer.
Best results are achieved with reverse rotation. Any chatter
marks that remain after trimming can be removed with an
abrasive paper of 240 to 400 grain. It is recommended to
buff the material subsequently with a polishing wheel and
a polishing compound for acrylates to achieve the required
gloss level.

1.
Purchases Controlled By These Terms and Conditions. All sales to Buyer by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada
Ltd. as applicable (Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.), shall be made by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada
Ltd. and accepted by Buyer on the provisions of these Terms and Conditions.
2. No Duty To Do Business. Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.reserves the right to not do business with Buyer
at any time, and for any reason, and assumes no duty to sell to Buyer.
3. Right to Sell or Use Products. Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. reserves the right to make, sell and/or
compete with Buyer with products similar to, or the same as, products sold to Buyer.
4. Acceptance of Orders. All orders are subject to acceptance and approval by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.
5. Processing of Orders. Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.reserves the right to charge Buyer costs incurred
from order cancellations or changes, and to consider additions as separate orders.
6. Back-Orders. When Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. is unable for any reasons to make a complete
shipment of any order, Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. reserves the right to make partial shipments and
to submit invoices for such partial shipments. Back orders will be filled at prices and terms governing the complete
original order.
7. Price Changes. All prices quoted from time to time by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.are subject to change
by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.without notice up to time of shipment.
8. Prices Exclude Taxes. Buyer agrees to pay any such taxes applicable to the sale or use of the products or, in lieu thereof, Buyer shall provide Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. with a tax exemption certificate acceptable to
the relevant taxing authorities. Buyer shall promptly reimburse Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. for any tax
advanced or paid by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.with respect to such products.
9. Title to Goods. Title to goods passes to Buyer when Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. receives full payment,
however, risk of loss passes to Buyer at the time of shipment.
10. Shipping. All shipments are FOB (Incoterms 2000) Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. Separate charges for
shipping and handling will be shown on invoices.
11. Credit Terms. Credit terms are, at the option of Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd., either COD or net 30,
unless otherwise stated in writing by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. Buyer agrees that all invoices unpaid,
in whole or in part, within terms will be subject to a service charge of the lesser of 1.5% per month (19.56% per year)
or the maximum rate permitted by applicable law.
12. Product Specifications. Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.makes and sells products ordered by Buyer subject
to reasonable tolerances set by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. from time to time. Surteco USA Inc.
and Surteco Canada Ltd.is not in any way liable for reasonable commercial variations in finish, weight and color. No
condition, warranty or stipulation is made in respect of color stability of plastics due to solar effects from weather
or other atmospheric conditions. Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.reserves the right to exceed/miss order
quantities for custom production items by plus/minus 10 per cent.
13. Limited Warranty. Products manufactured by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.are warranted to the Buyer
to be free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of six (6) months from date of purchase from Surteco
USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. sole responsibility and liability and
Buyer’s sole and exclusive remedy for any breach of the foregoing limited warranty shall be the repair or replacement
of the defective Product or refund of the purchase price at Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. option.
Products, which are sold by, but not manufactured by, Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd., are subject to the
warranty provided by the manufacturer of said products and are not warranted by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco
Canada Ltd.

OR IMPLIED, OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
14. Claims. If Buyer believes there is a defect with products sold by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. to Buyer,
Buyer must (i) immediately notify Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.of such defect, (ii) cooperate fully with
the investigation of the alleged defect, and (iii) comply in full with all shipping and return policies established by Surteco
USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.from time to time.
15. Returns. No merchandise will be accepted by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. as a return unless such return
is authorized in writing by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd..
16. Limited Liability. If there exists a defect with any Product sold by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. to
Buyer covered by the above limited warranty, Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.’s liability shall be limited to
repairing or replacing at Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.’s option, F.O.B. Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco
Canada Ltd.’s factory/warehouses or authorized service station, the defective product in question or at Surteco USA
Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.’s option refund of the purchase price. Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. will
not be liable for any costs of removal, installation, transportation, or any other charges, which may arise in connection
with a warranty claim. Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. will not be liable for damage or wear to products
caused by abnormal operating conditions, accident, abuse, misuse, unauthorized alteration or repair, or if the product
was not installed in accordance with Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.’s printed installation and operating
instructions. Buyer’s sole and exclusive remedy pursuant to any claim of any kind, including but not limited to any
warranty obligations, express or implied, or a claim in contract, negligence or strict, liability, against Surteco USA
Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.or any of Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.’s affiliates, shall be limited to the
limited liability of Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.to repair, replace or refund the purchase price described
in this section. Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.shall not be held responsible for damage to person or
property, any consequential loss, special damage, loss of profit, losses on goods in store or the like, irrespective of the
cause, including causes which arise out of or connected with these terms and conditions or from the performance or
breach of the terms hereof, or from the design, manufacture, sales, delivery, resale, installation, technical direction of
installation, inspection, repair, operation or use of any product or part thereof covered by these terms and conditions
or sold to Buyer by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.
17. Indemnity. Buyer agrees to indemnify Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. (including without limitation its
directors, officers, employees, agents and contractors) from liability for damage to persons or property resulting
from the use of product in manufacturing processes, or in combination with other substances, or otherwise. Buyer
represents to Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. that it has used its own independent skill and expertise in
connection with the selection and use of the product, and that it possesses skill and expertise in handling, storage,
transportation, treatment, use and disposal of the product.
18. Time Frame for Bringing Action. Any action for breach of warranty, condition or defect must be commenced within
one (1) year of date of delivery.
19. Intellectual Property. Buyer agrees not to appropriate, copy, use or disclose to third parties any of Surteco USA
Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.’s proprietary trade secrets, such as plans, specifications, drawings, samples, tools, dies,
models or manuals. Buyer shall not file for patent, trademark, service mark or copyright protection for any of Surteco
USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.’s products.
20. Future Documents. These terms and conditions contain the entire provisions governing the purchase of products by
Buyer from Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. Any additional, different, or inconsistent term or condition
contained in any form of purchase order, notice, acceptance, or confirmation used by Buyer or submitted by Buyer
to Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. in connection with the purchase of any materials from Surteco USA
Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. will be of no force or effect whatsoever and these terms and conditions shall govern
the sale of goods sold to buyer notwithstanding that a purchase order or a document used in a sale contains terms
in contradiction of these terms and conditions. These terms and conditions may be amended or modified only by a

written instrument separately signed by Buyer and Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. No agent, salesman,
or distributor has any authority to obligate Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. by any terms, stipulations or
conditions not herein expressed.
21. Binding Upon Successors and Assigns. These Terms and Conditions shall be binding upon any successor or assign, by
merger, acquisition or otherwise, of Buyer.
22. Governing Law. With respect to Surteco USA Inc. these Terms and Conditions must be governed by and construed in
accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina (without regard to conflicts of law principals). Any suit relating
hereto, with respect to Surteco USA Inc. must be filed in the courts in the State of North Carolina, USA. With respect
to Surteco Canada Ltd. these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of
the Province of Ontario. Any suit relating hereto, with respect to Surteco Canada Ltd. shall be filed in the courts in the
Province of Ontario, Canada.
23. Waiver. If, on any occasion, Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.waives any term or condition, this waiver is
not to be construed as a continuing waiver and any waiver by Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd. must be in
writing, signed by an authorized officer of Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd.
24. Force Majeure. All orders are accepted subject to delays in delivery caused by fires, floods, accidents, embargoes,
labor disputes, failure of suppliers to deliver goods, material shortages or any other contingencies beyond the control
of Surteco USA Inc. and Surteco Canada Ltd..
25. Severability. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions or the application thereof to any person or circumstance
is held invalid to any extent, then the remainder of the Terms and Conditions or the application of such provision to
persons or circumstances other than those as to which it is held invalid shall not be affected thereby, and each provision
of these Terms and Conditions shall be valid and enforced to the fullest extent permitted by law.
26. Headings. The headings for each paragraph are for convenience of reference only and shall not be deemed a part of
these Terms and Conditions.
27. Attorney Fees. In the event of any controversy or claim with respect hereto, the prevailing party will be entitled to
recover its reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs, whether suit or other proceeding is commenced or not, and whether
in mediation, arbitration, at trial, on appeal, in administrative proceedings or in bankruptcy (including without limitation
any adversary proceeding or contested matter in any bankruptcy case).
