Each year brings excitement for all of the great things happening for Girl
Scouts! 2014 was an especially exciting year as we celebrated our 102nd year
of Girl Scouting and attended the National Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah!
Our Girl Scouts—Dakota Horizons Council was proudly represented by our
delegation of girls, volunteers and board members. We even had additional
Girl Scouts who attended the Girl Scout Leadership Institute. What better way
for our girls to discover more about themselves and the world around them,
connect with their peers and take action to make the world a better place.
Girl Scouts—Dakota Horizons is committed to providing the core programs of
the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to our girls and create the opportunity
for them to transform themselves into the leaders of tomorrow. This
experience is made possible through the leadership, energy, passion and
dedication of our volunteers. We could not do this work without those who
give selflessly of their time.
It is truly with great pride that our service to girls is moving forward into the
21st Century, just as our founder Juliette Gordon Low envisioned when she
founded Girl Scouting in 1912. It is an honor that our passion for the mission
keeps us mindful of what we are called to do. Building girls of courage,
confidence and character who make the world a better place is what our
volunteers, staff and board of directors commit themselves to every day.
Our mission is clear, our responsibility is great and our impact for girls is
immeasurable. Thank you for all you do to make a difference in the life of a girl.

On my honor, I will try:
To serve God* and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.
* The word “God” can be interpreted in a number
of ways, depending on one’s spiritual beliefs.
When reciting the Girl Scout Promise, it is okay to
replace the word “God” with whatever word your
spiritual beliefs dictate.
