The Jones Act
US cabotage or the “Jones Act”, reserves 100% of
cargos carried between points in the United States for
ships that are owned by US citizens, built in the US, and
manned by US citizens.

• The world’s first LNG-powered containerships were delivered in 2015 to Tote
Maritime by the National Steel and Shipbuilding Company in San Diego.
• These vessels are among the most environmentally-friendly ships in the world,
reducing particulate matter by 98 percent and carbon dioxide emissions by 72
percent.

Ro/Ro Ramp Aft
Crowley’s newest Commitment Class ConRo ships will be among the first
LNG-powered, combination container and Roll-On/Roll-Off (ConRo) ships in
the world.
• El Coquí and Taíno, will burn clean LNG as their primary fuel and emit 38%
less reduction in CO2 per container compared with existing fossil fuels.
• Expected delivery: 2Q17 and 4Q17.
• VT Halter Marine, Pascagoula, MS is the builder.
