TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
REQUESTING A SPONSORSHIP LETTER AND THE
IMPORTANCE OF USING YOUR WEEKLY ENVELOPES
The sponsorship letter requires the pastor to attest to the fact
that the sponsor fulfills their fundamental obligation as a Catholic
by participation in the sacramental life of the Church, which
includes our Sunday Mass obligation. After all, if someone desires
to be a Godparent and/or sponsor for one of our children, it should
be an individual who practices their faith since they are to be an
example for the child. It is precisely for this reason we request
individuals to utilize their envelopes whether or not they choose or
able to donate since we can verify regular participation should they
not be familiar to us. If you should have any questions, or if you
are a registered parishioner and would like to receive envelopes,
please call the parish office Mon.-Fri., 9:30-5:30 pm at 735-7319.

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on Sundays at 1:15 pm.
A Preparation Session for the parents (Godparents invited) takes
place prior to Baptism and is held on the First Friday of each
month at 7:30 pm. A Catholic Godparent must be a practicing
Catholic, i.e. one who is free to receive the Sacraments in the
Catholic Church, who has been Confirmed and can receive a
“Letter of Good Standing” from their parish. If one of the
Godparents is a baptized Christian, they will be noted in the record
as a Christian Witness. A Christian Witness cannot be a
Godparent, if they were baptized in the Catholic Church. Contact
the Parish Office at 735-7319 for all arrangements and before the
selection of Godparents.
DEVOTIONS
The Rosary is prayed daily following Mass and Sunday
evenings at 6:00 pm. Novena to Our Lady of the Miraculous
Medal is prayed every Saturday following the 9:00 am Mass. Our
Living Faith II Charismatic Prayer Group meets at 7:00 pm on the
first and third Thursday of each month. For information, please
call Gerry at 735-7804. The Scripture Sharing Group meets each
Thursday after the 9:00 am Mass to pray and to reflect on the
readings for the upcoming Sunday. All are invited.
PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICK
Arrangements for pastoral visitation and Holy Communion to
the sick and infirmed at home can be made by contacting the
Parish Office. Catholic Chaplains are assigned by the Diocese of
Metuchen for patients in our area hospitals. Our Parish is
responsible for two area nursing care facilities. Emergency sick
calls at any time.
THE SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE
The Common Policy for the Diocese of New Jersey requires a
period of preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage, which
includes sessions with the parish priest or deacon and participation
in either the Pre-Cana Conference or the Engaged Encounter
Weekend. Therefore, arrangements with the Parish Office should
be made up to one year in advance, and before any social plans are
finalized.
BOX TOPS FUNDRAISER
This is a school fundraiser program started by General Mills in
1996. The Box Tops for Education Program offers school
supporters three easy ways to earn cash for schools through
everyday activities such as buying groceries, shopping online and
purchasing books. In addition, Campbell’s and Tyson Foods also
offer similar fundraising activities in which our school can benefit.
If you would like to help the students at Immaculate
Conception School, there are several easy ways to get involved:
Clip Box Tops/Campbell’s UPC Labels, and Tyson Project A+
Labels for hundreds of participating products. Place them into a
Ziploc bag or envelope. Please place bag/envelope in the
designated collection box in either the Immaculate Conception
Church vestibule or the school lobby. Sign up to support our
school on the Box Tops website at www.btfe.com.
Shop online once you have signed up, our school will earn a
percentage of your purchases made through The Box Tops Market
Place. There are a multitude of participating online stores
including Lands End, Gap, Old Navy, and Pottery Barn to name
just a few.
