Message from the General Manager
Welcome to Lahontan Golf Club’s Eighteenth Golf Season!
As you pass through the gatehouse, following an enthusiastic “hello”
from Director of Security, Gordy Kjer and his crew, and heed their
friendly reminder of 25 m.p.h. while in Lahontan, let us welcome you
home.
You’ll note that we have been busy over the off-season preparing for another great summer at Lahontan. We have completed the Camp Lahontan project that includes larger, more accommodating bathroom/locker
facilities, a family hot tub located next to the recreation pool, energy
efficient pool filter and heating appliances, a beautiful paver walkway
and a welcome/reception office next to the pool area. Coupled with the
various improvements we accomplished last year, Camp Lahontan will
continue to present as a premier family activity center for years to come.
Upon arrival to the Lodge, you’ll note that the entire interior of the
Main Lodge has been refreshed, reinvigorated and repurposed. The new
furnishings, paint, carpets and decorative pieces are complementary to
the time tested architectural design and intimate setting. From a more

open, better lit bar area to a casual dining room overlooking the 18th green; families, couples and their guests will
enjoy the flexibility in dining options this re-decor project will offer. And Chef JD is excited to present menus that
will enhance the atmosphere this Lodge refresh project has addressed.
Over the years, the ubiquitous plastic water bottle has been a part of the Lahontan experience…to the point that
many don’t even give it a thought. While Lahontan has maintained a comprehensive recycling program regarding our
use of plastic, particularly the plastic water bottles provided around the Club, we know there is more that we can do
to reduce our impact on the environment.
Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. This year, we are looking to extend the opportunity to refill personal water bottles on the
golf course. Fear not my plastic water bottle lovers…the plastic water bottles are not going away. Although, you
may find that the ease at which clean, filtered water is available, you will reduce or eliminate your use of plastic water
bottle. Refill stations will be available at the Starter Pavilion, the rest station at hole #4, and the Turn. Plastic bottles
will be available at the cart staging area, hole #1, the Turn, and between holes #12 & #13. Water will no longer be
available at hole #16. Merchandiser, Zach Alling, has logoed stainless steel personal water bottles, which fit in golf
cart cup holders, for purchase in the Pro Shop, Camp Lahontan and the Spa.
The calendar is set, the events are planned, a few surprise improvements await and the season ahead is going to be
our best yet. Welcome home.
Kind regards,
Jeffrey T. Cobain

What’s New at Lahontan..
Online Tee Times
w We are adding an online tee time application for the
convenience of our members. This program is scheduled
to be up and running by May 1, 2015. As always, you will
be able to schedule Tee times over the phone with the
Golf Shop. See the Golf page for more information.
Camp Lahontan Renovation
w The Camp remodel is complete and the Lap Pool and
Locker Rooms are open! The Recreation pool area and
Snack Bar will open May 22nd. With the addition of
the new family hot tub the Lap pool area will now be
designated for Adults and Lap swimmers only. Lap swimmers under the age of 16 will have to get permission for
the Camp Director.
Lodge Re-Fresh
w
The Lodge is getting a new interior! The project will
begin April 6th and the new Lodge will be unveiled May
8th. The project will include expanding the bar area,
creating a new casual dining atmosphere and a re-vamp of
the dining room furniture.
Meet Taylor!
I would like to formally introduce
myself as the new Executive Assistant to the General Manager.
Many of you may already know
me from my 3 years as Recreation
Supervisor at Camp Lahontan.
I am beyond excited to start my
first summer in this new position.
I grew up in Holliston, Massachusetts on a 32 acre horse
farm, during which time I was a competitive show jumper.
My winters were spent skiing in Maine, where I gained
a love for the sport and an obsession with the mountain
lifestyle.
I moved to Truckee shortly after graduating from the University of Vermont where I studied Environmental Science
and Wildlife Biology. Like most Tahoe transplants I moved
here for the skiing, but it was the beautiful Tahoe summers
that have kept me here for the last 5 years.
I am delighted to be a part of Lahontan, and look forward
to meeting all of you around the club!

Superintendent’s Corner
Summer is right around the corner and I am looking forward
to starting our 2015 golf season with all of you. We have been
experiencing some great spring weather here at Lahontan. The
shortage of snowfall has given opportunity to the golf course
maintenance department to begin working outside on each of
the courses. The vole damage has been minor over the past
winter. We feel confident that the golf courses will be in great
shape when opening day arrives. You can expect to see the
maintenance crew working diligently towards preparing for
opening day. Keep up to date with what is going on by checking the Lahontan website. We will be updating monthly with
news on course conditions and projects.
We look forward to seeing you out there.
New This Season
Online Tee Time System
Enjoy our new online tee time system through the Lahontan
website and mobile application. This system is projected to be
up and running by May 1, 2015. We will provide instruction
on how to use the system when we get closer to that date. Tee
times will still be available by calling the golf shop at 530-5502424 as well. The same rule is in effect that Lahontan has always
had in that each membership may have up to three tee times on
the books at any one time. Once a tee time is used you can then
make another. Tee times will be available seven days a week.
Free 15 Minute Video Lessons
Take a quick look at your swing! On May 23 the pros will be
offering free 15 minute video lessons on the driving range from
9 to 3. This brief session will allow you to walk away with a
simple thought to work on. Please email Head Golf Professional Scott Bolen at [email protected] to sign up.

and I are ready, as well. Back by popular demand are brands such as Polo, Jo Fit, Tail, Peter Millar, Straight Down, Martin,
and Cutter & Buck, but there will be a number of changes, as well. Our sunglasses and accessories offering will continue
to expand in an effort to provide more depth of souvenir and gift options. New wall panels will be added, allowing better

- Summer Skin Care Tips -
As you prepare to show more skin, get ready to face the
sun’s rays with our top 6 summer skin tips!
j Exfoliate for clearer, smoother skin
What it does: Exfoliation removes dead, dulling skin debris to prevent congestion and improve hydration from toners and moisturizers.
When: Perform in the mornings prior to toner, moisturizer, SPF and make-up
application. Tip: Make-up will last longer on an exfoliated skin!
Don’t forget: After you exfoliate, follow with a hydrating body cream to seal in
moisture, and always shield freshly exfoliated skin with an SPF.
Recommended: Daily Microfoliant, Exfoliating Body Scrub, Hydrating Cream.
