NEW PARISHIONERS
We welcome all new parishioners to make an appointment to register at the Parish
Office and share their gifts within the community.
Dear Parishioner:
Now that both I and my weekly article
are back in real time, and I am writing
after Christmas and New Year’s, I am
able to comment on what “our eyes
have seen, and our ears have heard” to
quote line from a letter of John in the
New Testament. In that letter he is
referring to Jesus Christ, the Son of
God come in the flesh as a human
being whom the apostles and many of
the early disciples met. So too, we in the early part of a New Year can
now talk about what we have seen and heard during the Advent and
Christmas celebrations.
While we did not see or hear Jesus the human being, we did see and
hear the Body of Christ in action, which is the Church and our parish.

And hopefully you feel the same way as I do about
it, that what we saw and heard was beautiful and was
a manifestation of Christ’s presence among us. It
takes various forms, the seeing and the hearing that
is. The seeing can take the form of the church so
beautifully decorated by a committee and their
assistants who very much wanted to do “something
beautiful for God” as Mother Teresa like to say.
Thank you to them for all their planning and hard
work. The majority of the decorations will come
down this weekend as we enter a short stint of
Ordinary Time before an early Lent. Thanks also to
the Chapel Maids, under the direction of Mary
Maltry, who put in extra hours cleaning the church
before Christmas. We also saw the new outdoor
manger scene in front of the Church; this was the
product of a few parishioners’ idea and generosity,
as well as the faithful, skilled carpentry of our
maintenance crew.
We also saw crowds of people coming to celebrate
Christmas, as we started the Eve celebrations with
the annual children’s Christmas pageant. The
children played their parts very well and let us all
experience both the seeing the children and their
costumes, and the hearing of their music for the
pageant. Thank you to Mary Noga for her direction
of the youth ensemble. And thank you to our
pageant directors for their guidance and preparing of
the children for the pageant. It was truly beautiful.
Then at 11:00 PM Midnight Mass we were treated to
a beautiful concert by our Traditional Choir along
with the Bell Choir. The music for the concert and
the Mass was very inspiring and helped us all to
sense Christ’s presence among us. Then at our
10:00 AM Mass on Christmas day the
Contemporary Choir and another Bell Choir
(including teens and young adults) also gave a
beautiful concert before Mass and played and sang
with inspiration during Mass. So on behalf of the
parish I would like to thank Marjorie and all the
members of each of the choirs for their time
commitment necessary to make our celebrations so
wonderful. Thank you as well to the additional
vocalists and instrumentalists that contributed to
Christmas.
January 10, 2016
And last, but most important of all, thanks be to God
for the ways He has blessed our parish.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Tim Plavac
