Auditions: Ghost Stories In The Park…
In The Dark!
Summer Place Theatre will hold auditions for the Ghosts Stories event that’s held in
October. Performances are held outdoors at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion. Auditions
will be held Saturday, August 22 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk
Community Center Room 206, 305 W. Jackson Avenue. Eight to ten adult and
young adult actors are needed to present stories and scenes to a varied audience.
Performances will be presented on October 2, 3, 4 and October 9, 10, 11.
Those interested in auditioning should bring a prepared Halloween story or monologue that they would perform for Ghost Stories. Please be prepared to work on them
with the director during the audition. Storytelling experience is not required.

The Banks family, a family fraught with frustrations, is touched by the cool and confident
Mary Poppins. Together they traverse adversity and adventures to rediscover the magic of
their love for one another. Rich with images of this magical and mysterious nanny, Mary
Poppins, our story joins the 1910 Edwardian Era of societal priorities with the fanciful adventures only she can create. London and its parks come alive, day and night, from bankers to
birds, our story touches a note of familiarity for all ages.

Magical Starlight Theatre
Magical Starlight Theatre will hold auditions for Mary Poppins on Saturday, October 24 and
Sunday, October 25 at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, 305 West Jackson
Avenue, at the northwest corner of Eagle Street and Jackson Avenue in Naperville (enter from
upper level). Auditions for actors under age 16 will be held from 1:00-2:30 p.m. and auditions
for actors 16 and older will be held from 2:30-4:00 p.m. both days. Actors must be in fourth
grade or higher. Callbacks, if necessary will be held on Monday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m.
Youth and adult actors are asked to prepare an up-tempo song highlighting their vocal range.
All auditioning should bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. There also will be
a tap dance audition; please come prepared. There will be a general movement audition and
cold reading from the script. British accents requested for speaking roles.
All performances are mandatory. If auditioning for Mary, Bert, Jane, or Michael,
there are mandatory rehearsals January 8 and 9, 2016.
Eight performances will be presented: January 15-17 and January 22-24, 2016. Performances
are at Naperville Central High School Auditorium, 440 West Aurora Avenue. Rehearsals will
generally be scheduled for Sunday afternoons, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Please bring
all conflicts for rehearsals and performances to auditions. For additional information, e-mail

Hayrides: Group
Group rental includes use of the park, 20-minute hayrides and a
campfire. You may bring your own food to cook over the bonfire.
We provide hot chocolate and apple cider. No alcohol allowed.
Picnic tables are provided. Bring your own chairs, blankets, flashlights and insect repellent. Youth groups must provide adult supervision on a 1:10 ratio. You must be at least 21 to rent the hayride
rack. For groups with over 30 people, there is an additional charge
of $5 per participant over the 30 attendees. This additional fee will
be collected by the hayride coordinator. For rainout information,

Royal Ball
Skating with Santa
All little princesses and princes of Naperville are cordially
invited to the Royal Ball. Come dressed in your formal attire to
sing and dance with all your princess friends. Music and activities
are led by a DJ. Crafts and dancing with the princesses will create a
magical night that will not soon be forgotten. A buffet lunch/dinner will be served. Everyone attending must register. (sc)
Celebrate the season and skate with Santa at Rocket Ice Arena in
Bolingbrook. Naperville Park District registered participants enjoy
private ice time, photo opportunities with Santa, holiday music,
and hot chocolate. A skating “trainer” is available for children

A
t the base of the Riverwalk’s Rotary Hill stands the majestic Millennium Carillon in Moser
Tower, a unique, 16-story structure with a 72-bell instrument. This gift, given to the Naperville
community to commemorate the dawn of the New Millennium, was built through community
support and donations and is now maintained through a partnership between the Park District,
Millennium Carillon Foundation and the City of Naperville.
The Carillon and adjacent Visitor Center is open for tours from May-November. Admission is $3
for ages 5 and older; children 4 and under are free. Visitors under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Carillon Visitor Center
At the Visitor Center, formerly the historic Netzley House, guests will learn about the Carillon
and area history through displays and interactive exhibits and view the carillonneur practice
area. Visitors also will watch a six-minute video
that highlights nearby attractions. Guests may
access the Visitor Center free of charge. Small,
private events also can be hosted at the Visitor
Center.
Carillon Weddings
Imagine hosting your once-in-a-lifetime event
with the unique Millennium Carillon and
the beautiful Naperville Riverwalk as your
backdrop. We offer two different wedding

2015 Summer Recital Series
On Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m., from June 2August 18, talented carillonneurs from across
the country and all over the world, will delight
concert-goers with an evening of music. These
free performances are held rain or shine (unless
there is lightning), and picnicking on the lawns
surrounding the tower is welcomed. Post-recital Moonlight Carillon Tours are available
from 8:00-9:00 p.m. Cost is $3/person. In addition to the Tuesday evening summer series,
weekly recitals by local carillonneurs will take
place on Saturdays at noon. Weekly Carillon
pops concerts will be held on Saturday evenings
at 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday afternoons at 4:00
p.m. beginning in June and continuing through
mid-November.

Guests will work with clay at Studio One to create
a festive take-home project to commemorate the

Nature Parties:
Does your child love nature and animals? Choose
from one of six nature-themed birthday parties
held at Knoch Knolls Nature Center. Your two hour
party begins with a 90-minute guided program
with the remaining 30 minutes reserved for cake
and presents. Cupcakes from DeEtta’s Bakery are
included in addition to invitations and a themed

Make your child’s Princess Tea Party even more magical! A “princess” will
