Local Content The All New Fortuner Reaches 75%
Karawang - The seriousness of Toyota to continue to be part of the development of the Indonesian
automotive industry is return to be implemented in the series project of Innovative International
Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) , the latest in Indonesia. This time PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing
Indonesia (TMMIN) as one of the IMV production and export base in the Asia Pacific region, increase
the local content products on Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), which was launched last week (22/1), The All
New Fortuner to 75% .The production activity of the All New Fortuner located in TMMIN factory at
Industrial Area Karawang International Industrial City (KIIC) Karawang 1, West Java. The development of
the All New Fortuner is part of the IMV project investment, including the All New Kijang Innova,
amounting to 4.9 trillion rupiah. The project also contributed to the increase in the number of first-tier
local suppliers from 107 companies to 123 companies.
"Production of the all-new Fortuner is a continuation of our commitment to provide global quality
automotive products which can meet customer satisfaction," said TMMIN Vice President, Warih Andang
Tjahjono.

TMMIN dedicate a special function that assigned to share TMMIN knowledge and experience to local
suppliers. In the initial stage, the focus is given on the first tier of local suppliers. Not only on the
issue of production, TMMIN also share the management issues of employment, safety procedure, and
transfer of expertise. A total of 90 experts of Toyota Production System (Toyota Production System TPS) and 18 Master Trainers, in the first tier of local suppliers were developed together that in the
future they will pass on the gained knowledge to their suppliers.
"The increasing local content in the All New Fortuner from 60% to 75% is the part of our relentless
efforts to participate in the development of Indonesia's automotive industry. For that, we run a close
partnership with supplier partners in order to jointly grow and improve the quality to meet customer
needs. We also asked for the first-tier suppliers to share their experiences and give assistance for tier
2 and 3 suppliers, that will cause domino effect, "added Warih.
Fortuner first produced by TMMIN in late 2006 in response to high demand for such products from
domestic and global markets. Fortuner production locally in Indonesia emphasized TMMIN position as
one of the production bases and export of the IMV series vehicles. Previously, TMMIN has been trusted
to produce Kijang Innova in 2004.
Within 5 (five) years, Fortuner become the backbone of the export of whole Toyota Indonesia vehicle,
leading the export of other products with achieving a volume of more than 174,000 units during the
period from 2001 to 2015, or an average of 34 800 units per year. Fortuner is currently has been
exported to countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East. (*)
