Why did tuition go up when we had $5 million in
committed donations for the new school?
That’s a very good question. We are blessed that several donors have generously given towards our new elementary
and transitional kindergarten school site (an $8 million project), which is scheduled to open sometime in the Fall. The
property is on track to close escrow in March and then complete renovation of our new school will begin.
This still leaves a $3 million balance, which we will be making in monthly payments, minus any additional donations
we receive. The $5 million in donations will be used exclusively for the property sale and remodel, as the donors gifts
were specifically intended.
Tuition specifically goes to pay for educational and operational expenses, which have gone up, as high as +40%, for
liability, workers’ compensation, and health insurance. Many other expenses, such as printing, safety, emergency
preparation, supplies and facilities have also increased substantially. This year we also made a substantial commitment to our dedicated faculty, through increasing salaries, in order to make our salaries more competitive.
We also made it a priority to invest in a lot of new curriculum, extensive advanced technology throughout the campuses, and overall educational programs including, fine arts, and athletics. Constituents have requested we continue
to make strides in developing and improving our school programs and co-curricular opportunities, in order to help
our students reach their God-given full potential, in all their gifts and talents. TC is known for excellence in Christian
education and that is what we want to deliver.
We are thankful for each gift, big or small, because together we are making a difference in our kids’ for all eternity.
Most importantly, we are thankful for and value each child and young person that his entrusted into our hands to
pave the way for an amazing future and destiny. We thank you for the honor and privilege to partner with you to

Annual Auction
Support our kids by attending our Annual Auction & Dinner on March 5. This is one of the greatest events of the
year. We will have great fun, food, and fellowship. ALL of the proceeds go to support programs for our kids. Dinner
is catered – and will be absolutely delicious! We have fantastic silent and live auction items, including one of a kind
class projects, home baked food and desserts, jewelry, decorative items for your home, trips, housewares, and much
more. There are items as low as $5, or come just to enjoy a wonderful dinner, entertainment and fellowship. This will
be a night you will not forget! To purchase your tickets (or to sponsor a table), contact the school office at (209) 6322337.
K-12 Enrollment, Refer a Friend
Refer a friend to TCS and earn $400 tuition credit for the 2016/17 school year. (See Tuition Referral Credit Policy in

The 2nd Annual Turlock Christian FFA Trap Shoot fundraiser
was a huge success! Many supporters came to join us in a
day of shooting! It was GREAT to see many new faces out
on the range and to get to know some of the community
that has supported TC FFA. The event was hosted at the
Waterford Sportsmen’s Club. We send a “thank you” to
everyone who helped make this event a success, including
Jody and Steve Handle. Over $1,700 was raised which will
greatly enhance our

“Made for Excellence and Advanced
Leadership Academy”

Turlock Christian FFA was well represented at the “Made for Excellence and Advanced Leadership Academy” taking 18 students to further their leadership skills. The two-day conference was
held in the beautiful Monterey Bay Embassy Suites! Students had opportunity to learn new
techniques for success and came home with a plan of action for TC’s FFA chapter. They had an
amazing time at the conference and want to thank Coach von Scherrer and Mrs. Myers for driving

Hailey Kellstrom — Next Generation Entrepreneur
Turlock Christian's Hailey
Kellstrom, was highlighted
in the January 30, 2016
edition of the Turlock
Journal. Haliey began
making soap three years
ago. Her first batch of soap,
cucumber melon, (in her
own words) “turned out
horrible .” Despite her failed
first attempt at making soap,
the young entrepreneur
refused to give up. Now
nearly 1,000 artisanal soap
creations and over 70
different scents later, she
has cultivated a successful
business bubbling with soap
bars, body scrubs, balms
and bath teas: “Soaps by
Hailey.”
Kellstrom said that she
has hopes to add lotion to
her product offerings in the
near future as she said that
she recently signed up to
take a lotion-making class at
Modesto Junior College.
She also plans to explore
the possibility of creating
her own body oils and face
mists when she has more
time.
During Turlock’s
Farmers’ Market off-season,
customers can find
Kellstrom’s products at
Emporium located at 228 E.
Main St. in Turlock.
Additionally, the young soap
-maker attends a number of
different craft fairs throughout the year, including the
upcoming California Women
for AG event on Feb. 6 at
the Stanislaus County
Fairgrounds.

Turlock Christian is looking for motivated, globally-minded students to join next summer’s 2016 Global
Youth Forum and Global Academic Olympiad in Seoul, South Korea. Two days of sightseeing are
included in the June 10th-16th itinerary, and the approximate cost per student is $1,500. Teams will
compete academically in math, science, world history, and literature. It is a great opportunity to meet and
interact with students from many countries! If you’re interested but have questions, please email
Mrs. Harmon at [email protected]. 5-7 students are needed to form a team. It would be super
to have a couple of our Korean exchange students join our team. Please prayerfully consider going!
