COLD FLUIDS
Cold fluid can cause failures to your machine, it does not have the lubricating properties that it has at operating temperature. The hydraulic system and automatic transmission are very sensitive to cold fluid.
Cold oil is a major cause of hydraulic pump and automatic transmission failure. Tucker Sno-Cat® vehicles are primarily used in cold environments so it is important to warm up the machine before using any
functions. This means starting up the machine and letting the engine warm up to operating temperature
before using any hydraulic functions and/or transmission functions. The Transmission and hydraulic system will warm up as the machine is idling. Tucker Sno-Cat® Corporation recommends that you start the
machine and turn on the high idle switch. The high idle switch will bring the engine RPM’s to 1100 allowing the machine to warm up faster than at a low idle speed. It is always a good idea to plug in the machine whenever possible.

EARLY SEASON PREPARATION
Aside from having your Tucker Sno-Cat® vehicles serviced and ready to go for the upcoming
snow season we recommend you pay some attention to some other necessities. Here at the
factory our Sales Team takes a serious look at all the pieces of the puzzle to be sure we will
not have any down time.
First, we always check over the Sno-Cat® vehicle to be sure it is fully serviced and all preventative maintenance has been performed.
Second, we want to be sure our transport vehicles are ready for winter travel. This means good winter tires,
windshield wipers, washer fluid, tire chains (that fit), brakes, 4wd operation, etc.
Third, we check over our transport trailers to be sure they are ready for winter travel. Again we want to be
sure the tires are in good shape, we have tire chains (that fit), light operation, trailer brakes are adjusted, lug
nuts are tight, wheel bearings are serviced, etc.
Fourth, we check to be sure we have all the tools & supplies needed for any unforeseen issue. This includes a
chainsaw, shovel, blanket, Spot Messenger, etc. Also be sure the chainsaw is in good operating condition
along with having all the chainsaw safety gear.
Heavy snow will be here before too long and it is always good to
be prepared for an outing at anytime.

STERLING SAYS…..
This month Sterling says “ It seems a lot of people wait until it starts snowing before they think about servicing, if so at least print off the below basic list and take some time to check off each line. Also be aware that if
you just purchased a machine from a different climate that the lubrication may be different then what you will
require. Your coolant system should have new anti freeze every two years.”

MEET JASON BIEGHLER
Jason has been working for Tucker Sno-Cat® Corporation since May of
1999. He was first hired to help with a re-work project and soon after promoted to the Machine Shop Department where he has been ever since.
Jason’s first love was bowling and he pursued that professionally after graduating from school, he earned a PBA Card and entered several of the national
tournaments. He came to a cross road in May of 1999 and decided that a
steady income was important and since his father already worked for and
liked Tucker Sno-Cat®, that he should try to get hired.
Jason loves working in the Machine Shop with his father (Doug) turning
steel and aluminum into precision parts. He describes his job as anything
but mundane, every new project comes with new challenges. In Jason’s 14 years he has seen a lot of changes
in the variety and complexity of parts that they turn out.
Jason is a native of Southern Oregon and stays busy helping to raise his young daughter. When not doing that
Jason likes to play golf, wake board, relax by the swimming pool, and even finds some time to bowl.
