“XITIJ – 2013”
The 2nd Interzonal Youth Festival – XITIJ 2013 - for the diploma
colleges affiliated to Gujarat Technological University was hosted by Tolani
Foundation Gandhidham Polytechnic (Adipur-Kutch) from 17 to 19 October
2013. 386 participants from 15 colleges participated in 23 competitions
held under five heads (Music, Dance, Drama, Literature and Fine Arts) held
during the event.
It was a privilege for the host institute – a pioneer of technical
education in Kutch that celebrated its golden jubilee last year and has been
the recipient of ISTE Best Student Chapter Award a number of times - to be
the host yet again for the interzonal state-level event.
Carrying forward GTU’s goal to create awareness and involve the
youth in creative activities, TFGP had called a pre-event press conference
on 24.09.2013.
Organizing Chairman and Principal N. G. Hiranandani briefed the
press about the event and expressed that it is a matter of pride for the
institute to host such a grand event and that he looks forward to setting a
precedent.
Prof. K. Venkateshwarlu (Organizing Secretary and Head of Applied
Mechanics at the host institute) informed the press representatives that the
theme of “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” will be launched during the
festival and there will be theme-based activities in the colleges throughout
the year.
He also informed that there will be 23 competitions in 5
categories and the participation has been encouraging.
The conference was attended by renowned news agencies like
Gujarat Samachar, Sandesh, Divya Bhaskar, Jansatta, Kutchmitra, Aaj Kaal
etc.
While planning the schedule of competitions, the organizing team
was cautious to avoid time-clashes. (Schedule in Annexure 2).
It was
fortunate to have expert and renowned judges for all the events. (List of
Judges in Annexure 3).
Confidentiality of the results was strictly maintained. No competition
results were declared before the valedictory session. The competitions
were held at three different venues.
Day–1 : 17th October 2013
“ XITIJ 2013 Inaugurated at Tolani F. G. Polytechnic, Adipur ”
The 2nd Inter zonal three-day (17-19 October 2013) youth fest for
the diploma colleges affiliated to Gujarat Technological University was
inaugurated
at
host
institute
Tolani
Foundation
Gandhidham
Polytechnic – Adipur (Kutch) today.
Many participants had
arrived on the previous day.
After
the
registration
and
breakfast (8:30-9:30 AM) on
the inaugural day, all the
participants proceeded for the
inaugural ceremony scheduled
at 9:45 AM. After the prayer
and lighting the lamps, dignitaries were escorted on the stage.

XITIJ 2013 and linked it with creativity.

Gandhidham Collegiate Board) formally declared the event open.
Campus Director Mr. L .H. Daryani and GCB Administrator Mr. H.K.
Kripalani graced the occasion by their presence on the stage. Mr. J. K.
Rathod proposed the vote of thanks. Miss Namrata Gianchandani was
the host. Local press and media representatives covered the function.
The participants were given certain tips about
navigating among various venues.
After the
inaugural ceremony, the competitions for the day
started
at
their
respective
venues.
The
competitions scheduled for the first day were: Skit
(6 participants), Mime (8 participants) and
Mimicry (7 participants) in the Theatre section,
Classical (Indian) (9 participants) and
Folk/Tribal Dance (8
participants) in the Dance
section,
Elocution

participants) and Debate
(13 participants) in the
Literature
section,
Folk
Orchestra (4 participants),
Classical Instrumental Solo
(Percussion)

participants) in the Music section

Day-2 : 18th October 2013
Competitions for the 2nd day started at their respective venues.
The competitions scheduled of the day were : Collage (10 participants),
Clay Modeling (8 participants) in the Fine
Arts section.
In the Literature section
there was a screening for Quiz completion
out of 15 participants. In Theater section
there was One Act Play (8 participants)
before the lunch.
In the Music Section there were

Day-3 : 19 October 2013
The third day marked the conclusion of XITIJ 2013. The competitions
on the third day were Quiz (Final Rounds), Rangoli and Cartooning. The
Quiz was held at the Prabhudarshan Auditorium while the two
competitions of the fine arts section were held at the CACD & DM building.
The Valedictory Function followed the competitions at 1:00 PM.

the Chief Guest for the function. Mrs.

Collegiate Board), Mr. L. H. Daryani

guest on the stage.

share their feedback about the
event.
There were many who shared their views and

All the participants showed a great zeal and
enthusiasm during this phase of the function

Based on the overall participation and total winning entries, a category
winner was announced in each category. These were institutional prizes.

As was reflected in the feedback from participants, the event was
a success. Accommodation was arranged by the host institute on
payment basis.
All the participants were asked to show their
willingness for accommodation. Most of the participants were offered
accommodation on the campus. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were
served on the venue during the days of the festival.
