expanded to accommodate this revived interest in musical work.

Once again we begin a new school year, some of us for the
last time, and some of us for the first time.
Those of us who are completing our school life realize what
a great deal the past three years have meant to us. That old
lump sticks in our throat when we look forward to commencement exercises and final departure from school days.
For those to whom college is novel, the year is clouded with
an atmosphere of glamour and excitement. The frosh anticipate those advertised assignments sweetened with fun galore.
But to all of us, this school year means one more year of
preparation for life. And in the midst of hardships and deprivations, we appreciate the opportunity to attend school.

fall. For the past f o u r years Vander Werf has been engaged in
special research at Ohio S t a t e university where he worked under Dr.
William Lloyd Evans, one of A m e r ica's best known chemists and
president of the American Chemical society. Vander Werf recentlyreceived his Ph. I), degree in chemistry at Ohio State.
