WHITE-STORK COLONY IN GERMANY
Welcome to the
National Natural Landscapes
The real Rolling Stones
Where the storks bring the babies
Venerable old castles, small mountains, lush and
vibrant pasture land, and vast forests lend the High
Fläming Nature Park its unique character. Holidays in
the nature park revolve around the theme of “rock and
stone”. Explore huge boulders and fieldstone churches along the hiking trail, relax at the SteinTherme
thermal bath, and enjoy “hot stone” specialties …
Rühstädt – in no other village in Germany will you
find as many white storks as here! Every year, the
European Stork Village Rühstädt is host to more than
30 breeding pairs. Located between Berlin and Hamburg, Rühstädt is a perfect destination for day trips or
for a “Nature along the Iron Curtain” adventure day.
Brandenburg, the state that surrounds Berlin, has it all:
pine and beech forests, moors, vast river valleys with
rolling meadows and pasture land, and over 3,000 lakes.
The state has many protected areas of unspoiled natural
beauty and offers a wide range of attractions that
make it a first-class region for ecotourism.
Brandenburg is home to a variety of rare animals, including
white-tailed eagles, ospreys, beavers, and kingfishers, and
it also provides ideal habitats for white storks and cranes.
Our multi-day-tours present the biosphere reserves Schorfheide Chorin (~ 65 km from Berlin) and Elbe-Brandenburg
River Landscape (~ 150 km), as well as the High Fläming
Nature Park (~ 75 km).
The visitor centres are the gateways to the various large
conservation areas. Not only are they ideal starting
points for walks, cycling tours, and boat trips in Brandenburg, they are also fun places for recreation and education.
